Lysandre and Aelion strolled leisurely down the street, their arms laden with shopping bags after a successful day of retail therapy. Lysandre had insisted that Aelion try on a particular dress, and when she emerged from the fitting room, he whistled in appreciation. "Damn, you look stunning!" he exclaimed, his eyes sparkling with delight.
Aelion laughed, twirling gracefully to showcase the soft grey dress that hugged her hips and flowed elegantly around her. "I feel pretty in it," she admitted, a smile playing on her lips. “You should wear dresses more often," Lysandre teased, handing her a soft shawl that complemented the dress perfectly. "We have to buy this one." "I'll consider it," Aelion said, her voice warm with gratitude. "Let me change back into my regular outfit, and then we can get some lunch."
Lysandre took a seat on a nearby bench, patiently waiting for his friend to re-emerge. True to her word, Aelion soon returned, looking refreshed and comfortable in her previous attire. She handed the sales associate the dress, and after a brief transaction, they resumed their walk, the dress safely tucked away in one of their bags.
As they strolled, Aelion asked, "So, what are your plans while I'm away in Borealis? Any special activities or projects you want to tackle?" Lysandre pondered for a moment. "I thought I'd spend some time in the garden or maybe take a few days to relax on the beach. I'll be sure to message you with updates, of course." "Definitely," Aelion replied, her eyes scanning the street as they walked. "Oh, and I think I saw a shop I wanted to check out just ahead. Do you mind?"
"Not at all," Lysandre said, waving his hand dismissively. "Take your time. I'll be right outside. Feel free to take a little break." Lysandre chuckled and disappeared into the shop, leaving Aelion alone on the street. She took a deep breath, looking up at the gray clouds that veiled the sun, casting a subdued light over the city. Despite the mild temperature, she felt flushed and uncomfortable, the weight of the bags in her arms adding to her fatigue. "Maybe I should refuse that exploration potion next time I visit Aquara," she mused, recalling the unusual side effects she had experienced.
Just then, Lysandre reappeared, a few bags in his hands as well. He noticed her pallor and frowned, concern creasing his brow. "Hey, are you alright? You look a bit flushed." Aelion nodded, pinching the bridge of her nose. "Migraine. Everything's too bright, and I feel hot and nauseated." Lysandre flipped his wrist, revealing a smart watch, and nodded in understanding. "Well, let's get you to a cafe. Some water, caffeine, and a sandwich should help. And," he wagged his finger at her playfully, "a little birdie told me you were up all night typing away on your computer. Lack of eye rest will definitely give you a headache." "I know, I know," Aelion said, following Lysandre into the cafe. "You're not my mom." "No," Lysandre smiled warmly, "but I am your friend, and I worry. Now, eat and drink up."
A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.
Aelion smiled softly at his gentle rebuke and took a seat by the window, closing her eyes for a moment to block out the harsh light. Soon enough, Lysandre returned with their sandwiches and coffee, setting the mug down in front of her. "Here's your coffee. Eat up, and tell me more about this journal you mentioned earlier." Aelion took a sip of her coffee and bit into her sandwich, savoring the familiar comfort of the meal. "Mmm, that's better," she murmured, her eyes closed in contentment.
Lysandre unwrapped his own sandwich and took a bite before continuing. "So, about the journal... I found it in a thrift shop, and it's unlike anything I've ever read. It's a research journal, but it contains information about our moon, Lunaris, that I can't find anywhere else. It's almost like it was written by someone who actually visited Lunaris." Aelion tilted her head, her curiosity piqued. "That is intriguing. Maybe it was a scholar or a traveler of some sort. It's rare to find such unique information about Lunaris. We know so much more about Solara."
"Exactly!" Lysandre exclaimed, his eyes alight with excitement. "And get this, I think the journal might have belonged to a Drakyr. There were certain references and details that made me wonder. It even mentioned the people of Lunaris, which is something I've never come across in other texts." Aelion's eyes widened. "Really? Can I see the journal? I'd love to read it, especially if there's any mention of plants or other botanical curiosities." Lysandre nodded, taking a sip of his coffee. "Of course, it's back home in a box somewhere. Maybe we can even plan a trip to Lunaris ourselves one day. I'm sure they could use a botanist," he added with a chuckle. Aelion smiled at the idea, her mind already spinning with possibilities. "That would be incredible. It's always exciting to explore new places and discover unknown plants."
As they finished their meal, Aelzji's expression softened, and she reached out to squeeze Lysandre's hand. "Hey, thank you for today. For everything. I really appreciate it." Lysandre's eyes softened, and he gave her hand a gentle pat. "Anytime, Aelion. And remember, if you ever feel lonely or homesick while you're away, just call me, and I'll be there. Okay?" Aelion was touched by his words, feeling a warmth spread through her that had nothing to do with her migraine. She hugged him impulsively, grateful for his friendship and support. "Thank you," she murmured, her voice thick with emotion.
Lysandre returned the hug, patting her back gently. "Alright, now let's get you home. You look like you need a nice long nap." Aelion laughed softly, standing up and stretching her tired limbs. "Oh yes, thank you for pointing that out," she teased, her eyes sparkling with amusement.
And so, the two friends made their way back home, their arms linked together, their bags forgotten as they enjoyed the comfortable silence that comes with long-time companionship.
