Chapter 12: Apart

Apart

Master Roshi, Mr. Popo, Khami, and Korin were gathered at Korin's tower, following the battle unfold on Raditz's scouter. The tension was high, but the serene surroundings of the tower did little to calm their nerves.

Master Roshi, with his scouter pressed to his eye, was providing live commentary. "Tien's power level is skyrocketing. He must be using the Tri-Beam!" he said, a mix of excitement and worry in his voice.

Korin, looking anxious, sighed. "I just hope Yajirobe gets there in time. We need his help."

Mr. Popo nodded in agreement. "Yes, Yajirobe has a knack for surprising us, but he needs to hurry."

Meanwhile...

Yajirobe was lounging at a table, happily eating a huge chicken leg. The reporters around him looked on in shock at his messy eating habits.

Between bites, Yajirobe mumbled with a smirk, "My students are wearing out the Saiyans in Round One so I can come in and finish them off in Round Two!" He laughed, sauce smeared across his face.

One reporter, trying to stay calm, asked, "Aren't you worried about the fight? It's getting serious out there!"

Yajirobe waved his hand, barely pausing his eating. "Worried? I'm just making sure I have enough energy. Can't fight on an empty stomach, right?"

The reporters exchanged looks of disbelief as Yajirobe continued to eat.

Back at the battlefield...

A huge cloud of smoke billowed from the spot where Nappa had been moments before, swirling ominously in the air. The aftermath of Tien's attack created a chaotic, smoky haze that obscured the battlefield.

Tien panted heavily, his breath coming in ragged gasps. Floating was becoming increasingly difficult as the energy drain from the powerful technique took its toll. The once formidable fighter struggled to maintain his position in the air.

Yamcha and Gohan erupted in relieved laughter, their voices echoing across the desolate landscape. They were buoyed by the sight of the smoke and the apparent devastation.

"Way to go!" Gohan yelled.

"Alright!" exclaimed Yamcha. "There's no way anyone's surviving that!"

Meanwhile, Krillin emerged from the debris, his body covered in dust and grime. A triumphant grin spread across his face as he reached into his pocket, pulling out the bag of Senzu beans. He examined the last remaining bean with a sense of urgency. The decision of whom to help weighed heavily on him, and Tien, who was clearly in need, seemed like the right choice.

As the smoke began to clear, Tien's gaze was fixed downward. The large crater left in the ground was devoid of Nappa, creating an unsettling silence. Tien's eyes darted around, desperately trying to locate the Saiyan. The sense of foreboding grew as he detected a menacing energy behind him.

A chilling voice cut through the air. "Gotcha!" Nappa declared, his grip vice-like as he seized Tien from behind. The Saiyan's sinister grin was palpable even through the smoke.

The Earth's fighters gasped in collective horror. The reality of their situation was dawning on them—despite their best efforts, Nappa had survived. The sight of Nappa's intact and menacing form after the combined attacks filled them with terror.

A fierce, crackling aura surrounded Nappa and Tien as the Saiyan flipped Tien upside-down. With a burst of speed, Nappa hurtled towards the ground, his descent creating a powerful vortex that whipped up dust and debris.

Tien, trapped and disoriented, shook his head desperately, his silent pleas for help lost in the chaos. The pressure of Nappa's grip was unrelenting, and his ability to fight back was rapidly diminishing.

With a cruel chuckle, Nappa released Tien just above the ground and veered off to the side. Tien's body hurtled towards the Earth, crashing into the ground with a resounding thud. The impact sent a massive cloud of dust and debris into the air, partially obscuring the scene.

Chiaotzu's eyes widened in horror as he watched Tien's fall. "No, Tien!" he cried out.

Yamcha and Gohan stood with clenched fists, their faces twisted in a mix of anger and despair.

Tien lay crumpled in his own crater, blood trickling from his mouth and nose. His body was battered and broken, his strength waning with every passing second. Nappa landed with a smug grin, clearly relishing his opponent's suffering.

Tien, barely conscious, tried to grip the dirt beneath him, but his strength was failing. He lay helpless, unable to stand or defend himself. Nappa's continued chuckling was a cruel reminder of his desperate situation.

Chiaotzu could barely watch as Nappa raised his leg and delivered a brutal kick to Tien's already wounded body. Tien tumbled across the crater, his eyes shut tight against the pain, more blood spilling from his mouth.

Krillin's face contorted with frustration and concern as he watched the gruesome scene unfold. He clutched the Senzu bean tightly, his mind racing. The urgency of the situation was clear—Tien needed help, but Krillin knew the fighter was in no condition to catch the bean or react swiftly.

Nappa's rage reached a boiling point . He clenched his fist and bellowed into the air. "You insolent piece of trash! I will no more stand for this!"

The intensity of his anger was palpable, his aura flaring like a storm about to break. As Yamcha and Gohan surged forward, trying to take advantage of Nappa's moment of distraction, their attacks were swiftly met with a brutal counter.

BAM!

Nappa's elbows lashed out, striking both Gohan and Yamcha with bone-jarring force. They staggered back, clutching their injured faces. The fight was far from over, but the odds were becoming increasingly grim.

Nappa turned his focus back to Tien, a murderous glint in his eyes. "Get ready to die!" he roared, his voice dripping with menace. He opened his mouth, gathering a ball of energy between his jaws as he prepared to unleash a devastating attack.

Tien's heart raced as he closed his eyes, overwhelmed by a wave of despair. "Oh God. Forgive all my sins," he whispered to himself, sensing the immense energy building up behind him. It felt as if time had slowed, and the weight of his impending doom was unbearable.

"DODON RAY!"

A sudden beam of energy shot from Chiaotzu's outstretched finger, hitting Nappa square in the chin. The impact caused Nappa to misfire his attack, sending a fiery blast into the sky. The Saiyan's expression twisted into one of shock and agony as some of his teeth were shattered, and his gums erupted in searing pain. This was an unexpected turn of events that left him momentarily disoriented.

Nappa's rage intensified as he turned to face Chiaotzu. His eyes burned with uncontainable fury. Without a word, he vanished from sight and reappeared right in front of the small fighter.

Chiaotzu's eyes widened with sheer terror. "OWW!" he cried out as Nappa's fist connected with his torso, the force of the blow causing several ribs to crack and puncturing his breath. His body trembled under the weight of the Saiyan's wrath.

In a horrifying and unexpected twist, Nappa grabbed Chiaotzu by the head and, with a savage motion, tore it clean off. The grotesque act left the battlefield in stunned silence.

Gohan, Krillin, and Yamcha turned pale, their faces draining of color as they witnessed the unthinkable.

Tien's eyes widened in disbelief and horror as he felt Chiaotzu's ki vanish completely. His heart sank as the realization hit him—their friend was gone.

Nappa tossed Chiaotzu's lifeless body aside, the ground beneath him stained with a horrific pool of blood. The grotesque scene left the rest of the Earth's fighters paralyzed with shock and grief.

Gohan's face turned a sickly shade of blue. The shock of Chiaotzu's death had rendered him momentarily speechless. It was a reality he couldn't process, the cruel twist of fate shaking him to his core.

Vegeta watched with a smirk, clearly enjoying the suffering he had wrought.

In the midst of the devastation, Tien's despair erupted into a visceral scream of agony and rage. He slammed his fists into the ground, his emotions raw and unrestrained. Tears streamed down his face as he sobbed uncontrollably, his heart breaking with the weight of his loss. The pain he felt was more intense than any physical injury. "Why, Chiaotzu?! Why did you have to sacrifice yourself to save me?!" he wailed, the rawness of his sorrow echoing through the desolate battlefield.

Nappa, still seething with rage, turned his attention to the remaining fighters. "Now who's next?" he taunted, his voice a harsh reminder of the relentless threat he posed.

Krillin's resolve hardened. He clutched the Senzu bean tightly, determined to help Tien despite the overwhelming danger. With a determined dash, he headed towards his fallen friend.

BAM!

A punch from Nappa collided with Krillin's head, sending him crashing to the ground with a groan. The blow had been brutal, and Krillin lay sprawled, dazed.

Yamcha and Gohan shook with anger and frustration, their helplessness a bitter pill to swallow. Their friends were being decimated before their eyes, and they were powerless to stop it.

Suddenly, a roar of defiance shattered the battlefield's gloom. Tien stood, his aura flaring with a dangerous intensity. His eyes were pure white, devoid of iris and pupil, a sign of his overwhelming rage and newfound strength.

Vegeta's smile widened as he saw the power readings on his scouter spike dramatically.

Tien's scream was a primal, earth-shattering cry. He surged forward with renewed fury, his attacks a relentless storm of punches and kicks aimed at Nappa. Each strike was fueled by his grief and anger, a desperate attempt to avenge Chiaotzu and reclaim some semblance of hope.

Gohan and Yamcha watched in astonishment as Tien's strength seemed to surge beyond his previous limits. Yet, despite the ferocity of his attacks, Nappa managed to block and dodge with relative ease. The Saiyan's grin remained, unshaken by Tien's onslaught.

With a roar of anger, Nappa delivered a crushing punch to Tien's chest. The force of the blow sent Tien crashing to the ground, blood spilling from him. This time, he wasn't getting up, his rage-filled onslaught having drained him completely.

Tien lay defeated, the memory of Chiaotzu's sacrifice burning fiercely in his mind.

Nappa loomed over the fallen Tien, his cruel smile growing wider. "It's time for you to meet your doll friend, three-eyes."

He began charging a massive sphere of energy in his hand, its glow casting eerie shadows over the battlefield. His gaze shifted to Yamcha and Gohan, a chilling threat in his voice. "If any of you try to interfere, I will make it a point to kill you first."

Yamcha, his face set in grim determination, began to gather energy for his attack, ignoring Nappa's threat. "Kame... hame..." he intoned, focusing intently.

Gohan, similarly resolute, raised his hands to his forehead, channeling energy into them with unwavering concentration.

Krillin, battered and bruised, struggled to his feet. His eye was swollen shut from Nappa's last assault, but he remained steadfast. He glanced at the last Senzu bean. For a moment, he considered taking one for himself. The thought of the fight's toll weighed heavily on him.

Nappa's smirk broadened as he finished charging his attack. The energy in his hand crackled menacingly, his eyes fixed on Tien. "Now, say goodbye—"

DISHOO!

A blinding blast of ki erupted from nowhere, slamming into Nappa's back and sending him sprawling face-first into the ground. The force of the attack created a shockwave, scattering debris and dust across the battlefield.

Vegeta's eyes widened in disbelief. "What the?!"

The unexpected turn of events left everyone stunned. Yamcha and Gohan halted their attacks, their expressions frozen in shock. Their mouths hung open as they watched the scene unfold.

Krillin's face turned a ghastly shade of pale, his eyes wide with disbelief.

Gohan's despair transformed into a radiant smile as he saw a familiar figure emerging from the smoke. Panting and with a determined look in his eyes, stood none other than Piccolo.

"Krillin... give me the Senzu bean..." Piccolo called out, his voice firm and commanding.
