39: Chatting with King Kai.

"You see, you've only been here a few days, but your strength has grown quite a bit, and you are worthy of being my student," King Kai said with a touch of pride in his voice as he saw 'Shen', as the Namekian called himself, staying before him.

"Master... is it necessary for me, as a mage, to capture Bubbles without using spells?" asked Shen, sweating and lying on his back on the lawn of King Kai's micro planet.

"If you hadn't mutilated yourself by splitting, you wouldn't need that. Besides, a real mage should know how to fight and move, or do you just want to be a turret? No one is stupid enough to ignore a mage who doesn't move," King Kai pointed out, his hands behind his back, saying these words with a serious air worthy of a god.

"That reminds me of a joke, what did the mage tell his ex-wife when she asked for alimony? I don't have any fireballs for you..... HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA" King Kai started to laugh at a 'joke', causing Shen, or Kami-Sama, to slap his face awkwardly.

'What a terrible joke, why do all the master's jokes about mages have to do with fireballs? Not such an impressive spell,' Kami-Sama thought in despair, in just a few days, he had been bombarded by the same jokes.

"You were able to adapt to ten times the gravity of Earth very quickly, but you still haven't adapted 100%, for that, my friend Gregory can help you with that aspect, unless you want to rest for a while," after quieting his laughter, King Kai continued to chat with Shen about his training.

"I want to rest for a while, believe it or not, I'm very old..." When Kami-Sama said that, King Kai materialized a bamboo stick and, not caring about the height difference, he hit Kami-Sama's head with an exasperated expression on his face.

"Because you crippled your body by splitting! Namekians can live for thousands of years if they set their minds to it! There's a famous one, even nicknamed Legendary, who's over 1,000 years old.

You're only what, 500 years old? And you already look decrepit! Besides, you have divine ki, which is supposed to improve the lives of its possessors because it is essentially very different from normal ki.

Your divine heritage is broken? It didn't teach you how to use the divine Ki to prolong your life," King Kai complained, unable to imagine that a planet god could be as sad as his disciple.

But seeing Kami-Sama's embarrassed and somewhat sad expression, King Kai paused for a moment before something occurred to him. Could it be that Earth's divine heritage was in trouble?

"So many legendary heroes have come from your world, someone from the outside might think that's a great thing about your world, but if great legends arise, it's because there were dangers on their level. Young man, what the hell happened to your divine heritage?" King Kai finally asked, and Shen hesitated for a moment before finally answering.

"When I was about to inherit the position, I trained with someone named Garlic. Although his nature was that of a demon, he was not judged or discriminated against by the previous god. Demon is just a race, it doesn't mean they're evil, right?

But Garlic was evil, regardless of his race. When he saw that he would not get the position of Earth God, he unleashed an attack against the current god at that time. I had no choice, if I had additional years of meditation, I would have purified my heart and eliminated the evil in me.

My master needed help! So, without waiting any longer, I separated the evil in my heart into one being, and according to my prejudices, it named itself 'Great Demon King Piccolo', mocking the fear I felt of Garlic.

Although Piccolo helped me in the fight, his chaotic nature only made the situation more chaotic, causing many records to be lost. My master could only pass on his position and his divine Ki to me in a desperate act, teaching me only the creation of this special energy, but not its applications.

Whatever I have been able to accomplish with my divine Ki is minuscule, I can barely produce anything..." Kami-Sama began to chat with his current master, King Kai, releasing all the pain that had built up in his heart.

Mr. Popo was a quiet person who usually went his way, so Kami-Sama was never able to talk to anyone about his problems, which accumulated a lot of stress and pressure. Maybe that, together with the splitting of his body, contributed to his premature old age.

King-Kai listened to his new disciple's complaints, his whole story, how the unfinished teachings limited him in his divine duties, and how he could only watch as his 'evil' side wreaked havoc on the world, creating a legend of terror that continues to this day.

"I see... then let me teach you, Shen, I will teach you to become a true god. Perhaps you won't need your other half, you still have a lot of untapped talent in you," King Kai mused, causing Kami-Sama to stand up before offering him a 90° bow.

"Thank you, Master!" Kami-Sama exclaimed, causing a small smile to appear on King Kai's face.

Stolen story; please report.

He will raise this Namekian to a legendary level with his teachings!

"By the way, maybe some people on Earth are worried about me, I left without warning. Could you talk to them and tell them about my stay here?" asked Kami-Sama with a little embarrassment in his voice.

"Don't worry, what do you think my beautiful antennae are for? I can contact anyone in the northern galaxy if I want to!" King Kai proudly pointed to his antennae.

"Come, put your hand on my back and think of the person you want to talk to," King Kai indicated and made Kami-Sama do as he asked.

"First, let's warn Mr. Popo, he should be worried about my absence," Kami-Sama said before he closed his eyes and thought about the clear image of the being that had spent several centuries with him.

...

"Bulma? Can you hear me?" Bulma heard in her head while she was meditating.

It had been a week since she had fought Goku, and although it hadn't been a fight to the death, the fight had given her many ideas that she had been thinking about ever since.

She was meditating, her body raised a few inches off the ground, a purple aura covering her body. Her blue hair was constantly fluttering, some of the strands of her blue hair were losing their color, becoming blonde, then black, then red.

Bulma was in the forest clearing where she had captured Monster Carrot, next to her was Chi-Chi, practicing her magic skills while holding that strange book.

Goku was doing push-ups, his mind had been in a high state of excitement since that day, plus he heard a loose comment from Midori Norimaki about The World Martial Arts Tournament that would be held in a few months.

The idea of competing against the best fighters in the world, combined with the reaffirmation of his motives to fight, pushed Goku to train his physique more and more.

To do this, Bulma and Doctor Norimaki designed a special device, especially because of the special information she found about the World Martial Arts Tournament. This was one of the differences from the original world.

The martial artists on Earth were much more powerful than in the canon! They were also more diverse, which is why Bulma doubted that joke fighters like 'Bacterian', a man who seems to have forgotten that there is such a thing as a toilet, would show up.

So the machine Bulma created with Doctor Norimaki was simple, a gravity duplicator. The machine was installed in this clearing, allowing Bulma's meditation, Chi-Chi's magic practice, and Goku's physical training to take place under double gravity.

Why not more? Because they were still young and growing, besides, the adaptation to gravity was not like in the anime, it had to be a gradual process to avoid organic damage or sequels.

Who knows? Maybe Goku's heart disease in the original universe was caused or accelerated by his uncontrolled use of a machine that increased gravity and put unnecessary stress on his body.

"Kami-Sama? What's wrong?" Bulma opened her eyes, her hair returning to its normal state, then sat up and looked at the sky.

"I'm not in the Lockout, I'm .... in the other world," Kami-Sama's voice could also be heard by Goku and Chi-Chi, who shared the same shocked expression as Bulma.

"God is dead!" shouted Goku, only to have the seriousness of the moment ruined by Bulma's laughter as she deactivated the machine that was increasing the gravity of the environment.

"No, Goku, I'm alive. I'm just here to train," Kami-Sama replied calmly, used to the young Saiyan's attitude, so he was not angered by his reaction.

"You train with ghosts?" asked Chi-Chi, making Goku's eyes sparkle with excitement.

"How cool! I want to fight ghosts," Goku made punching gestures in the air to show his excitement.

"No, I train with the North Kaio-Sama, or King Kai, the god in charge of our galaxy," Kami-Sama clarified quickly, wanting to avoid the strange ideas of the youngsters, but he never expected that even Bulma would join.

"A god training another god? Was King Kai trained by another god?" Bulma joked, making Kami-Sama sigh audibly.

"Young people have no respect anymore... I just wanted to tell you that I'll be gone for a while, okay? If you encounter any danger that threatens Earth or humanity, I hope you will call to the sky, King Kai will pay some attention to your adventures and respond when called," Kami-Sama indicated, causing the trio of youngsters to calm down.

"We understand, Kami-Sama, train and become strong! I'd like to fight you, it must be interesting to fight the gods," Goku waved to the sky, unaware that his words caused Bulma to give him a sideways glance.

'This wish of yours will come true sooner or later, Goku,' Bulma thought before answering the same as her younger brother and waving to the sky.

"I hope you'll be back soon, Kami-Sama, I'm sure Mother will prepare a feast when you return," Bulma said with a smile on her face.

"May your training go well, Kami-Sama!" Chi-Chi also waved her hand to the sky.

The farewell gesture of the young people made Kami-Sama feel warm in his heart. Although his interaction with Bulma and the others had been minimal, limited to mental dialogues, he had considered them to be his offspring.

After all, to God, all young people are his children.

"Take care, hope to see you soon," Kami-Sama finally said goodbye, making the atmosphere in the wooded clearing feel a bit desolate.

"It feels like it's been years since I've seen Grandpa Gohan," Goku murmured a little reluctantly, even his tail wagging with less energy than before.

"It hasn't even been a month," Bulma said, looking at Goku with a pout.

"That Goku, that means you're homesick," Chi-Chi said before flipping through the magic book in his hand and finding a spell that if practiced, could help Goku a lot in this situation.

"Also, you can chat with him via video call, it's not the same, but it's something. Looks like the Master is getting a second wind," Bulma said cryptically, and both Goku and Chi-Chi missed the double meaning of her words.

"Bulma," Goku called after a few moments of silence.

"Yes?" Bulma asked.

"Can you get something like Master Roshi's herb? I... I don't want Grandpa to leave us so soon," Goku said seriously, and perhaps it was the first time both Bulma and Chi-Chi had seen such seriousness in the young Saiyan.

"I don't know if I can, I know Master Gohan wouldn't let me wish for that, not that I want to. But... I'll try my best, Goku." With her words, Bulma's hair suddenly glowed a little and Bulma felt the vague idea she had been thinking about become clearer in her mind.

Bulma looked down at her index finger and watched as it formed into a claw, it was slow but much faster than a week ago. This made Bulma smile, it seemed her meditation was improving her control over her burgeoning body transformation ability.
