Chapter 3: Another way to cultivate

After arriving home, Li Tian Tian went straight to her room and locked the door in order to avoid getting disturbed. Her parents thought that she was depressed by the results so they did not go to disturb her in order to give her some time to herself.

The reality of the matter was much different from what her parents thought. During the awakening ceremony where her body started glowing for a few seconds, something special had happened within her mind. A part of the second set of memories which she received suddenly became clear as soon as her martial soul was awakened. Even though it was good news, she chose to remain silent as her intuition told her not to say anything about it yet. Thus she waited until she got back home in order to make sense of those memories and to ponder on whether to tell the truth to her parents.

Slowly, dinner time arrived and the family gathered it. By this point, she had made up her mind to tell her parents the truth. After all, she did not want to keep the secret all to herself and telling the truth would lift of a lot of pressure from her shoulders.

As she sat down at the dining table along with her parents, she said with a bit of hesitation, “Dad, mom, I have something important to tell you.”

“What is it sweetie? If it’s about your awakening ceremony, you don’t have to worry. Your dad and I don’t mind your result.” Said her mother.

“Yes, it’s related to that but it’s not what you think. You see, I have two secrets that I want to tell you. Promise me that you won’t do anything.” She said with a bit of fear of how they will react with her confession.

“Don’t worry my princess, we promise you that whatever your secret is, we will not punish you, right love?” Her dad said while turning to her mother to which she approved, “Of course!”

Feeling a bit reassured, Li Tian Tian began to recount everything that happened to her. “Dad, mom, I’m not exactly your daughter.” When she said this, she looked up at her parents to see their reactions. Noticing that there was no change, she continued.

“I’m actually from another world. It is very different from this one as everyone over there does not have any martial souls or soul power.” When she said these, shocked expressions appeared on her parents’ faces. However, they did not say anything and let her continue.

“In that world, I used to be a teenage boy called Li Ming until I met with an accident where I met my end over there. Who would have thought that I would be lucky enough where I would wake up inside the body of your daughter? I’m really sorry uncle, auntie. I don’t really know what happened to you actual daughter, but I’m afraid I might have killed her when I woke inside her body last night as I seem to have inherited her memories.” At this point Li Tian Tian broke out into a sob.

Hearing this, the couple sighed. “Who would have thought that this is actually what happened. We actually noticed something was wrong with you in the morning, but since we could sense our daughter’s aura within you, we did not say anything. Everything makes sense now after you told this to us.”

“If my conjecture is correct, nothing has happened to our daughter. The reason why you feel as if you have taken over her body as well as her life is because your past life memories were so well preserved that it overpowered the memories of your time prior to your awakening. After all, you were more than twice your current age in your previous life.” Said her dad.

He added, “Although I must say, doesn’t this make our daughter special my love?”

“Yes, I’m so proud of her.” Said her mother while going to give Li Tian Tian a hug.

Hearing her parents’ words, Li Tian Tian felt comforted in her heart. Thus, she started crying even more she lay in the woman’s arms whom she started to truly accept as her mother in her heart. Tonight will be one of the most memorable nights for her as she had gained people whom she could call her parents because when she was Li Ming, her parents died when she was of a very young age.

After they died, her relatives who were well off took care of her. However, due to their busy schedule, they never really interacted much. This left her with a lot of free time to do many things without restrictions. Even though she had a lot of freedom, she always envied those kids who had parents to look after them. Although the independence had given her life skills in order to survive, a child still needs the love of their parents during their early phase of life.

As a result, at this moment, after confirming her new parents’ stance on this matter, she was filled with a lot of happiness which made her cry a lot more. Although she started crying due to guilt, she ended up crying tears of happiness in the end.

After a few more coaxing, her tears finally ended.

“Thanks mom, thanks dad.” She said after all the crying.

“Why are you thanking us? Isn’t it our job as your parents to make sure that our daughter is fine? However if you really want to thank us, you could tell us what the other secret of yours is.” Said her father. Her mother gave him a look after he said this.

“Oh I almost forgot.” Said Li Tian Tian noticing the awkward situation he was in.

“Remember I said that I am not from this world? After I woke up… err… after I awakened my memories last night, another set of memories were also imprinted into my mind. Although it’s a bit hazy, I’m sure with time they will become clear. Earlier today during the awakening ceremony, a part of that memory became clear when my martial soul was awakened. The part which became clear apparently teaches me a method to cultivate soul power. However, it required me to start cultivating it starting from zero soul power. That is why, during the awakening ceremony, using a method that I got from it, I dispersed my innate soul power without harming myself.”

“I chose to do that as according to the method, it will allow me to continue advancing without having the need to absorb soul rings from spirit beasts resulting in eliminating the need to find a suitable soul ring every time I reach a bottleneck.” Said Li Tian Tian.

“Interesting, but doesn’t this mean that you will be forgoing the benefits of absorbing those rings?” asked her father.

“I also had this doubt, but I had a feeling that dispersing my innate soul power would be a better option in the long run.” Replied Li Tian Tian.

“Alright, since it’s already done, there’s nothing we can do about it anymore. Let’s go back and rest. Today has been a long day, I need some time to digest all this information. Don’t misunderstand, I really don’t mind what has happened, it’s just a lot to take in during a short period of time. I believe we no longer need to teach you how to meditate.” Said her father.

“Okay dad. I just have one question for you and mom.” Said Li Tian Tian.

“Okay, what is it?” Replied her father.

“How come you were so sure that you could sense your daughter’s aura in me?” Asked Li Tian Tian.

Hearing this question, her father looked at her mother who gave him a nod. Seeing the look of approval from her, they both released their aura inside the room at the same time. Two yellow, two purple, four black, and one red soul rings appeared on both of them. The rings appeared only for one second before they vanished as the couple retracted their aura.

Li Tian Tian was in awe to discover that her parents were Titled Douluo, something that was very rare amongst the populace of the continent. These people can be considered the cornerstone of every kingdom as they can influence the tide of war in a very big way. She now understood that if her parents still could not do something like this, they would no longer be considered Titled Douluo.

Even the Li Tian Tian in the past did not know that her parents were Titled Douluo. They always kept it hidden from her until today when they felt it was time to reveal it to her.

The family exchanged ‘goodnights’ with each other before they went to sleep in order to digest the day’s events, especially for Li Tian Tian, taking into account the emotional rides she had during the day.

Tomorrow will mark another important day for Li Tian Tian as it would be the day where she begins her journey to cultivate into becoming an Immortal, something she had still kept from her parents as it still seemed to be absurd to her.
