Early in the morning, Li Tian Tian woke up feeling refreshed. Remembering last night’s events she quickly looked down to check her body. “So it was not a dream. I really have died in that accident” she said sighing. “I was looking forward to play Sword Art Online as well. I wonder how those two are dealing with my death.”
After lamenting about her death for a while, she decided to update herself on her situation. “According to the memories of the girl, my name is now Li Tian Tian and I live in a place called the Douluo Continent? It’s quite different from earth. Let’s see, the people living here seem to have an ability called martial souls which they awaken at the age of six, and if you get lucky, you might be one of the few who will have soul force. These people can cultivate to become soul masters. It reminds me a lot about the wuxia novels that I used to read back home.”
After going through the memories of the girl, she found a few more things. For instance, today is the day of her own awakening ceremony. She would be going with her parents to the town hall to have her martial soul awakened. Another more important thing she noticed is that there seems to be another set of memories in her mind as well which did not belong to the girl. However, even after she tried very hard, she could not make any sense out of it as it was too vague and blurry.
“I wonder whose memories are those. I just hope that it is nothing bad.” She mused.
At this point, a voice came from downstairs, “Breakfast is served! Come have it before it gets cold. We still have to go to the town hall after this as well!”
Hearing the voice, she quickly changed her clothes according to how the girl would always do in her memories and go downstairs to the kitchen. Once there, a beautiful woman of around twenty five could be seen standing in front of the stove preparing to serve breakfast on the table. Sitting on one side of the table, there is a man around the same age as the woman sipping a cup of coffee. He had a handsome face with a head full of blue hair, a contrast to the black hair of the woman.
The couple she saw are naturally her mother and father respectively. Her silky black hair were inherited from her mother.
“Good morning dad, mom.” She greeted and went to her usual seat, which is to the right of her father in accordance to her memories. “It’s a good thing I have inherited her memories else I wouldn’t know what to do in this situation.” She thought as she sat down.
“Good morning.” They both replied.
“So my little princess, are you nervous regarding your awakening ceremony? You don’t seem as cheerful as you usually are.” Said her father who seem to notice something was different with his daughter.
The tale has been illicitly lifted; should you spot it on Amazon, report the violation.
“Oh honey, you don’t need to worry. You will always be our beloved daughter no matter what martial soul you awaken and regardless of whether you have soul power or not.” Added her mother.
She nodded her head as a sign of saying “yes” to her parents and began to eat the breakfast which is served on the table. In truth, it’s not her fault that her parents noticed something different about her behaviour. Even though she had inherited the memories of the young girl, she found it embarrassing to act fully on the mannerisms that the girl had after having lived for sixteen years as a boy. Just thinking about being in a girl’s body would make her embarrassed a little even without the acting.
After having breakfast, the family waited for fifteen minutes before setting out for the town hall that was just a thirty minute walk away. While walking through the village, she looked all around her to take in the scenery. Even though all of these were within the memories of the girl, actually seeing it for herself was a whole new experience.
Occasionally, there would be some people who would greet her parents and wishing them good luck for the awakening ceremony of their daughter. In response to the greetings, her parents would always thank them politely for their well wishes.
When they reached the town hall, they saw that a few other families were already present. The families were waiting for their turn to go inside to awaken their child’s martial soul. People could be seen coming out with a variety of expressions. Some were happy, some were disappointed, while others were indifferent. Li Tian Tian’s father went to sign her up at the registration counter.
After waiting for some time, it was finally her turn. The family was led by a staff member to one of the rooms in the town hall. Inside the room sat an old man with a circular array in front of him. After getting instructed by the staff, Li Tian Tian walked up to the old man and held her arm up towards him.
Placing both his arms on her, he said, “Don’t be nervous. Stay relaxed as this will not hurt.” After saying some reassuring words, he spoke with a loud voice, “Martial Soul, Awaken!”
Immediately, her body started to glow brightly, blinding everyone within the room. After a few seconds, the glow slowly faded to reveal her silhouette. However, there appeared to be nothing different that happened to her.
Feeling perplexed, the old man asked, “Child, do you feel anything different?”
In response to his question, she answered, “Yeah, it feels like the world has suddenly become much clearer to me. It’s as if all my senses have become sharper.”
Hearing the answer, the old man exclaimed, “She’s got a very rare martial soul; her brain. Quick, let’s see what her innate soul power is.”
Sensing how the old man was agitated, the staff member quickly brought forward the soul testing orb to the old man. Receiving the orb, the old man quickly instructed Li Tian Tian to place her hands on it.
Complying to his instructions that bordered towards being an order, Li Tian Tian quickly placed her hands on it. However, even after waiting for a few seconds, nothing seemed to happen. The old man sighed in disappointment, “Haah, I got excited for no reason. She has no innate soul power at all making her just an ordinary person. What a waste, what a waste of such a martial soul.”
Upon hearing what the old man said, her parents also couldn’t help feeling disappointed in their hearts. No matter how much they told themselves that it didn’t matter what the results were, they could not help feeling that way. They tried their best not to show it in their expressions and went to console her.
“Don’t worry honey, it’s alright even if you have no soul power at all. With the help of your brain martial soul, you can still do many things.” Said her mother trying to comfort her.
Standing by the side, her father said, “Let’s go, there are other people waiting to get their martial souls awakened.”
The family was escorted by the staff member to the outside where he led another family back in.
Even though they tried to hide it, Li Tian Tian could still sense the disappointment in her parents’ emotions with the help of her newly awakened martial soul.
