For those who don't remember, this is continuing straight on from the last chapter. Basically Gareth and Alice had come up with a plan to deal with the parasites. This is continuing on from the last line of that chapter.

Gareth: EAT THIS!!!
Pointing his gun at the horde of parasites standing before him, Gareth felt extremely nervous. Thinking about his plan, Gareth's mind whirled through all the different possibilities. Though there was a high likelihood that it would succeed, there was always the chance it would fail. Deciding that it was too late to regret his decision now, Gareth steadied his nerves. Committing himself to his plan, Gareth Pulled the trigger of his gun. A jet black stream of mist suddenly erupted out of the gun's barrel. Taking shape in front of Gareth, the mist morphed into a small ball. As more and more mist kept pouring into the ball from the gun, it kept growing in size. When the energy in the gun had finally run out, the ball was several meters wide. Its surface was like a void, sucking in all the light around it. Having finished forming, the ball shot forwards. Turning into a blur, the ball disappeared from the Parasites sight. The speed with which it moved Suprised both Gareth and the Parasites. Even more terrifying was that it was still speeding up. By the time it had crossed the distance to the closest parasite, it had already broken the sound barrier. Sending out a visible shockwave, the ball let out a sonic boom.
Sonic Boom: FWUTUUUUUUM!!!
Hurtling forwards into the enemy horde, the ball smashed into the frontmost parasite. The dark mist reached out from the ball, engulfing the creatures small body almost instantly. Watching intently, Gareth noticed the ball grow visibly after it had "eaten" the parasite. Moving onto the next parasites in line, the ball quickly grew in size. Before long the small ball of mist had transformed into a gigantic boulder. But by this point, the parasites were beginning to dodge out of the balls way. Seeing the dark outline of the mist approaching them, the Parasites desperately scrambled out of its path. By the time the ball had made it a quarter of the way through the parasite horde, they had already evacuated the ball's path. But looking at the huge size of the boulder, Gareth wasn't the least bit disappointed. When he'd created the ball, it had cost him all of his remaining energy. In exchange for the huge cost, Gareth had managed to draw out a special trait of his demonic energy. The ability to absorb the enemies power and add it his own. So though the ball had originally only been as powerful half of his energy it was now several dozen times stronger than that.
Gareth: Now Alice!
Alice: Got it, Charge now!!!
Nodding to Gareth, Alice moved onto the next phase of their plan. Looking at the 30 remaining Goblies, she gave them her orders. Hearing her words, they reacted quickly. Without any hesitation, they all began sprinting forwards. Passing by Gareth almost instantly, the little minions pushed their high-speed capabilities to the limits. Quickly reaching 30-mph, the Goblies made their way to the parasites. Rushing into the gap left by Gareth's attack, they sped into the heart of the parasites army. Though the parasites tried to prevent them from going any further forwards, they were too busy recovering from the mist ball. They could only watch helplessly as the Goblies sank further into their midst. As the parasites watched the little men, they felt bitter about their inability to stop them. But the Goblies next actions thoroughly astonished them. Every 100 meters, two of the Goblies would randomly dive into the parasite horde. Before long, all 30 of them had bundled headfirst into their enemies midst. Though their actions momentarily stunned the parasites, it didn't take long for them to recover. Pouncing onto the isolated Goblies, the parasites began ripping them apart. Trying their best to fend off the unending waves of insects, the Goblies did all they could to prolong their survival. Some of them who had lost several limbs were resorting to biting their opponents. Others who were lucky enough to still have intact limbs were madly swinging them at the parasites. Unfortunately, no matter how hard they fought, the outcome would still be the same. Facing the unending horde would eventually lead to their death.
Gareth: come on.
keeping a close eye on the Goblies, Gareth felt uneasy. The next part of his plan needed the Goblies to be alive. But he also needed his mist ball to reach a certain location in the parasite horde. Nervously darting his eyes back and forth between the Goblies and the ball, he felt a cold sweat break out on his back. Luckily for him, the Goblies were extremely tenacious. Even when facing the parasites, they used all of their power to delay their deaths. Thanks to their effort, Gareth had more than enough time to get the mist ball into position. When it had reached 3 quarters of the way through the parasite horde, he called out to Alice.
Gareth: DO IT NOW!!!
Alice: Necro!!!
Necro: Got it!
Holding his hand out towards the Goblies, Necro activated his last resort. Having heard about it from Alice, Gareth knew that the Goblies had a self-destruction function built into them. Using the energy that went into creating them as well as Alice's own they could make themselves explode. According to Necro, the combined detonation of all 30 of them would be enough to wipe out half off the parasite horde. the only issue was getting them into position. But with Gareth's help, they had managed to pull it off. The 30 Goblies were interspersed between one-half of the parasite horde. As for the other half, it was up to Gareth's mist ball to deal with. But Gareth wasn't completely confident in being able to cause that much damage. Though he wasn't much weaker than Alice in terms of power, he wasn't anywhere near as good at wiping out lots of enemies. His speciality was for 1v1 fights, not army battles. Even so, he was sure the if he could kill two-thirds of the parasites then they could handle the rest. If he's lucky then the remaining parasites would retreat. If he wasn't then he still had the monster core in his pocket. Though he was really reluctant to use it, he wouldn't hesitate to if it could save his life.

Gareth; SPLIT!!!
Following after Necro, Gareth also activated his last resort attack. On one end of the battlefield, Gareth's mist ball suddenly Stopped flying forwards. Hovering in mid-air, the ball's shape began to change. The originally smooth ball began to ripple violently. After a few seconds, the mist had completely lost its shape. The mist floating around then began to reform into another shape. But unlike before, it wasn't forming into a single object. Splitting apart, the mist formed into several thousand singular strands. These little strands all began to smooth themselves out, forming into tiny spikes. looking at the floating spikes, all of the nearby parasites began to panic. Their natural instincts were screaming for them to run away, but it was too late now. Even if they tried to, they wouldn't be able to escape the spikes range. Giving up on their lives, the parasites stared helplessly at the massive bundle of spikes. Spectating that development from a huge distance away, Gareth was extremely surprised. Though he knew that his attack was by no means weak, he didn't expect it to have such a devastating effect on the parasites. As he continued to stare at the spikes, he noticed them begin to move. Swirling around in a huge circle, all of the spikes lined themselves up to face the parasites. Creating a doughnut shape, they remained perfectly still. At this point, it would only take one word for Gareth to send the deadly spikes flying towards the parasites.
At the other end of the horde. There was another crisis facing the parasites. All of the Goblies that were previously being ripped apart had started glowing a bright green colour. All of the nearby parasites that were caught in that light were instantly smashed into the ground. It was as if the light couldn't tolerate the very existence of those disgusting creatures and was quickly eradicating them. As the parasites desperately scrambled to get away from the Goblies, the intense light continued to grow brighter. After a few seconds, a good portion of the parasites had been covered by the green light. Luckily for them, the further they got from the Goblies, the weaker the light's effect would be. So although they felt the pressure weighing down on them, they weren't in immediate danger. When the light coming from the Goblies finally stabilised, a whole half of the parasite army was covered in the light. But other than the couple dozen parasites who were extremely close to the Goblies, none of the others had died.
Gareth: Hey Alice, you ready to do this?
Looking at the bright green light that was illuminating one-half of the parasite horde, then the bundle of darkness looming over the other half, Gareth felt a sudden wave of anxiety. He knew that these two attacks would decide their fate. Though everything had gone according to plan, he still wasn't certain that they would achieve their goal.
Alice: As much as I'll ever be, let's do it.
Looking at Gareth's expression, Alice could clearly see his concern. She herself was also feeling the same anxiety in her heart. As she also didn't know about the monster core that Gareth had, she truly thought that the next few seconds would decide their life and death. Nodding to Necro, Alice gave him the go ahead.
Gareth: haha, let's end this.
Letting out a nervous laugh, Gareth refocused his attention on his attack. With his eyes narrowing into slits, Gareth felt the thin connection of energy tying him to the floating spikes. Using the last sliver of power contained in his body, Gareth activated the attack.
Gareth: ERUPT!!!
To his side, Necro followed his lead and also activated his attack.
Necro: SELF DETONATION!!!
Responding to Gareth's will, The ring of black spikes all shot outwards. Travelling at an insane speed, they spread outwards to hit the nearby parasites. Within an instant, the little dagger sized darts had flown out to cover an entire half of the parasite horde. In terms of speed, they were easily 10x faster than their previous ball form. When the spikes sunk into the body of a parasite, they would begin to consume them. As the parasites had no energy to defend themselves, they would quickly be transformed. then when their bodies couldn't contain that energy, they would violently explode. As Gareth watched on in amazement, he saw the 1'500 parasites on his side quickly meet their end. Whether it was being absorbed by the spikes, or by being caught in the following explosions, all of them had died a horrid death.
On the other side of the horde, the parasites were meeting an even crueller end. When the command came from necro, all of the Goblies had transformed completely into large waves of bright green energy. Those waves quickly spread out to cover the nearby parasites. The energy violently smashed the weak parasites bodies in pulp as it passed over them. Continuing to spread, the 30 waves of green energy each spread out to take over an area of 100 meters each. All of the parasites in that range had died before they could so much as move. Like that the 2000 remaining parasites were mostly wiped out. Of the few that were still alive, none were in any shape to fight. Looking out at the mass of dead and disfigured corpses, Alice and Gareth were both amazed.
Breathing heavily, Alice fell down onto her knees. At her side, Necro was passed out on the ground. Having both used up their energy, they were feeling the after effects. As Necro was a being made up entirely of energy, he couldn't survive without it. Having used up almost all of his power to help Alice carry out the attack, he was now left with only a tiny bit of energy. it wouldn't be long before he reverted back into a card. As for Alice, though she was tired, her actual body was unharmed. So before long, she would recover. Looking at the outcome of their plan, Alice felt a mad sense of joy rush into her body. Though it had cost her almost all of her and Gareth's remaining energy, it was worth it to wipe out their enemy. Not only had they removed the huge danger that the parasites posed, They'd also earned a huge amount of points doing so. Looking to her side, Alice wanted to share her joy with her partner.
Gareth: haaaah. Looks like we did it, haah. sorry but, hah. I'll have to leave the rest to you.
Taking in huge gulps of air, Gareth was wavering back and forth unsteadily. When he'd finished his sentence, he slumped down onto the ground.
Alice: GARETH!!!
Worried by Gareth's sudden collapse, Alice rushed over to his side. Though it took all of her willpower to stop herself from falling over, she managed to make it to his side. Kneeling down, she quickly turned him over. Looking at his face, she was stunned. Even after all that had happened, he still had a huge grin plastered across his face. Just to confirm that he was okay, Alice placed her hand over his mouth. Feeling the warm stream of air coming out of his mouth, she felt relieved.
Alice: take a good rest, you've earned it.
Placing Gareth gently onto the ground, Alice looked towards the distant figures of Solomon, Pluvia and the Queen.
Alice: We've done our part, the rest is up to you now.
