however, the thing that was the most terrifying was the cunning intelligence he could see in its eyes.

“wait, you know about the knights?” Steve asked feeling confused.
giving a snort the devil answered with a shrug “of course I know, I was created to test, new applicants and provide a challenge to the best ones.”
“and you have no problem just doing that?”
“my job is pretty easy, so why not my living condition and privileges are pretty good as well so I have nothing to complain about” he answered giving a dismissive shrug.
“o-ok, I guess that works to” Steve said looking just a confused about the situation, but chose to just accept it.
“well shall we begin” Emily suddenly said with a smile on her face.

stealing his resolve, he got in to position and activated fire slash.
His sword caught fire and he also activated split mind slowing down time, in the time he did that Emily had already flown at the devil at explosive speed, because of his level the devil was no slouch either meeting Emily mid-way with a powerful blow from an oversized war hammer, the impact created a shock wave blowing dust away all around them, rushing out of the dust cloud Steve came up beside the devil, slashing at him with an impressive speed, the devil however parried his sword slash with a flick, stopping it cold.
the devil was holding them back with ease, suddenly Emily activated a skill and speed up even faster, applying pressure to the devil, taking a step back under the barrage he stared at her with a raised brow and gave a chuckle before also speeding up and attacking with even more fervor.
she took a blow to the shoulder and gave a pained yell before glowing red and speeding up more.
“attack him with magic from a distance, I can only hold this skill for a short while” she yelled between grunts from impacts and slashes of her own.
giving a nod he attacked a few more times before backing of, charging his mana, ho looked for an opening, even with split mind, he barely kept up with the fight, he sheathed his sword and formed a fireball between his hands giving it more mana than normal it grew to the size of a bus before he compressed it down to the size of a fist.
the ground started melting around him, but with his increased stats, he took the brunt of the fire and continued to infuse mana and compress it.
seeing an opening he shot the ball against their opponent and prepared another one.
the blast that resulted from the impact threw the devil across the room smashing against the ground, even though the devil took the brunt of the damage the shock wave and heat forced Emily back a few steps.
grunting the devil got up from the ground with a grunt, but Emily was already there raining down blows on him, even though he was severely damaged he still defended against the barrage of attacks and speed up himself, scoring a couple hits on Emily, breaking something after one especially nasty hit.
Emily didn’t look much better than the devil, though even still with broken bones and bleeding all over she didn’t give an inch of ground and kept up the barrage of attacks.
Steve shot another compressed fire ball and watched the devil side step and avoiding it, but tacking a hit from Emily slashing up his side.
“shit” he said and prepared another fireball, there his previous ball hit the wall, it blew the wall to a million pieces and raining down debris creating a crater with melting rock in it.
Emily slashed him thugh the throat and avoided another swing, steve took the opening provided seing that it wasn’t enough to finish him off.
throwing the fireball at him with an insane speed, he watched Emily take a step back and prepairing for impact.
the devil only had time to twist his head and opening his eyes wide before it impacted blowing a giant hole in his chest and fldinging him back.
after he landed he looked down at his chest and gave a low chuckle, before looking up at them both, chocking on his blood he said thrugh gasps of air.
“welcome. “Hough” to the knights”
then he fell to his side, dead even before he landed.
a blast of light washed out from his corpse, healing them and teleporting them away.
then they arrived back in the loby to the dungon, he ran over to Emily checking her over and embracing her.
“I’m fine, upon completing a dungeon you get healed, thanks though” she said with a content smile on her face returning the embrace.
steping back he checed on his notificasions.
