In a beautiful landscape, dotted with small gardens and rolling hills, four people suddenly materialized.
They seemed to fade into existence, until they were left, still slightly transparent and mostly confused.
The first thing that they did, collectively as a whole, was to look around and gain their bearings.
The four of them had never met each other before, having been from different worlds.
The first one to speak was a short girl with midnight black hair, wearing tattered robes that had once been expensive. Her eyes were a peculiar shade of violet, and she held a twisted looking staff in one hand. From the other dangled an orb wrapped around by a string.
(???) “What?! This isn’t a primary world plain! Who’s dared to interrupt the summoning of the great me!”
One of the others in the group, another girl looking to be around seventeen years old with plain brown hair and a tall stature spoke up. Curiously, her hands were chained up behind her back, with small runes preventing her the use of any mana.
(???) “Have you never been summoned like this before? My guess is that this world’s gods decided to have us pay them a visit.”
The other two people stayed silent. One was a haggard looking man, his hair hanging in front of his eyes in a tangle, and wearing a dark cloak. If you were able to see his black eyes, you would see that they burned like live coals.
The last one was a young boy, seemingly innocent and confused, his large blues eyes watching around him.
As soon as the chained up girl stopped talking, figures began appearing around them, around twenty in all.
(???) “Correct, Sarah Durst. We, the resident gods of this world, have decided that you four are worthy to receive some blessings of ours.”
(Sarah) “Last time, I was blessed by a goddess of war. Do I get to keep that blessing?”
(???) “Yes. The blessings become a part of you, and so they will follow you to our world. AS for the blessing you get here, that has already been decided.”
The indistinct figure pointed at the girl with the staff.
(???) “Selina Rochelle, you shall receive the blessing from the god of wisdom.”
A line of light emanated from one of the figures, pouring into Selina.
(???) “Harving Strump, you shall receive the blessing of the goddess of vengeance.”
Light reached out to the man with the tangled hair, this time in a red hue stinking of blood.
(???) “Sarah Durst, you shall receive the blessing from the god of death.”
A black line traveled from one to another this time.
(???) “And finally, Rust Gelben, you shall receive my own blessing, the god of fate.”
With that, their bodies began to fade again, the four of them leaving the realm of the gods. The gods, however, had a parting word with the new heroes.
(God of Fate) “One last thing to keep in mind—People tend to reincarnate into our realm. Perhaps one that you miss could be found here?”
----------------------------------------
The heroes appeared in the center of the circle, slightly disorientated. Four of them appeared calm, however, while the other three were looking around them in a panic.
There was a man in a resplendent suit of armor, carrying a plain looking sword marked with old looking runes. He was bleeding from several small cuts on his face and body, and his plain brown hair looked black from the blood caked into it.
There was a young looking schoolgirl, with black hair. She looked to be around sixteen years old, and frightened out of her mind.
The last was an old man, standing near the guy in the armor, like they had been pulled from the same place. He held a staff nearly as gnarled as the one held by Selina, and his white beard reached to his belly.
The four, who had left the god’s realm just a second ago, were relatively less fazed from the summoning.
In fact, the first to recover was Selina, who laughed loudly, throwing her head back as she did so.
(Selina) “Ha! ‘The one I miss’, eh? This world might be more interesting than I thought, if there’s a possibility of him existing here.”
Sarah overheard Selina’s comments, and smiled.
(Sarah) “I wouldn’t get your hopes up. The possibility is there, but it’s nearly non-existent.”
Her words seemed to mostly be directed at herself.
The people standing outside the circle recovered from the bright light that had indicated the arrival of the heroes, and the first to speak was naturally the king, who wrung his hands nervously for a second before reminding himself that he’s the king, and must appear in control at all times.
(King Rayleigh) “Welcome heroes! We have summoned you to plead for help….”
At that moment, he was interrupted by Sarah, who had taken a look at the remaining three heroes who had been summoned.
(Sarah) “Gaby! Is that you?!”
The schoolgirl, who was apparently named Gaby, looked at Sarah, eyes wide. She took in the tattered clothes worn by her, and the chains restraining her hands. She saw Sarah’s face, and her face scrunched in pain.
(Gaby) “What the?!”
Sarah immediately rushed to her side.
(Sarah) “Gaby! Are you okay?”
(Gaby) “Yeah, no. Not really. My god, are these memories real?”
Sarah looked sad for a moment.
(Sarah) “I thought so. After we disappeared, something partially wiped our existence from those who knew us, right?”
(Gaby) “But, how could I forget... ? That makes no sense, I had a brother? What the hell happened?”
Sarah told Gaby that she’d explain everything later, since it looked like those outside the circle got a little mad at her interrupting their king.
(King Rayleigh) “Like I was saying… We need your help. I’ll tell you in greater detail later, but for now, could you all allow us to see your stats?”
The man in the armor raised his hand.
(???) “Um, what are stats, and how am I supposed to show them?”
The archmage stepped forward, and gave each of the heroes a plate of metal, telling them about the guild cards, and how they display the holder’s strength. The heroes imprinted them, and showed their stats to the awe of everyone present.

The school was massive, and new looking.
It didn’t have that worn in look that most prestigious schools tend to have— After all, it had only been completely built thirty years ago. It hadn’t had enough time to built a comprehensive character yet.
It was still spectacular, though. The construction of the school had started some sixty years ago, and it was built out of granite and marble quarried on the other side of the continent, then shuttled here through the gates. Parts of the school had large towers spearing upwards, holding anything from residential quarters to practice rooms.
There were a few large halls in the school, as well as some less-well-known hallways.
We were walking down one such hallway, towards a set of double doors.
It had been interesting walking into the school, and seeing humans, elves, and even the odd demon wishing to attend. The school held a diversity not found elsewhere in the continents.
Reaching the double doors, Niten and I entered the study without knocking.
There was an old human in the study—almost as old looking as Niten.
(???) “Who dares to barge into my, The Headmaster’s, office?!”
The school headmaster, Flavius Rent, yelled with composure and authority.
He blanched upon seeing Niten’s face, though.
(Flavius) “Oh—Master. I wasn’t expecting you today. What can I do to help?”
(Niten) “Hello Flavius. I hope you’ve been well lately. You see, I have a small matter I need you to help with. This is my newest student, Katariah Silver.”
(Kai) “Please, just call me Kai.”
(Niten) “Anyway, I think you can guess her heritage through her last name and features.”
(Flavius) “Indeed. Demon elf, right? And one born of the imperial family, no less. Quite a sticky political situation, I would think?”
(Niten) “Not so much as you would think. She has the full support of her aunt, Empress Aspasia Silver.”
Flavius immediately looked shocked, realizing that my mother hadn't just been another member of the Silver family.
(Flavius) “Then what do you need me for? With her aunt’s support, she should have no problems getting into the school as a student. Though I can’t promise that she won’t be discriminated against. We both know that’s an impossible promise to keep.”
(Niten) “Actually, I want her to teach.”
If Flavius had been drinking anything, It would now be all over the walls from his spluttering.
(Flavius) “What?! She can’t be older than fifteen, master! She’s nowhere near experienced enough!”
(Kai) “What if I told you that this isn’t my first life?”
(Flavius) “....You’re reincarnated?”
(Niten) “Five times, apparently. She’s more than experienced enough for a basic teacher’s post. If you put her in as you would any other new-coming teacher, she should be able to prove her merits soon enough, right?”
(Flavius) “Hm. I just have to give her a position, right?”
(Niten) “Yes.”
(Flavius) “Fine then. I’ll have her teaching the first years. If she can prove that she actually can teach, then I’ll see what I can do.”
(Niten) “Thank you, Flavius.”
(Flavius) “Don’t thank me yet. All the other new teachers have to take some...exams. Kai here should be no different.”
(Niten) “Ah! That’s perfect! Yes, go ahead and have her go through that.”
(Flavius) “One last thing before you leave.”
He looked at both Niten and I with a questioning face.
(Flavius) “What are you trying to accomplish with this? People don’t do these things for the hell of it, you know.”
(Kai) “Well, I need to become recognized, and I don’t like the idea of being hated on two of the three available continents here.”
(Flavius) “Ah. I understand. You want to get the students to see you in a better light, no?”
(Kai) “Right. There are many sons and daughters of powerful figures going to this school now, and if I can get into contact with them, when the time comes that I wish to visit new places I won’t be totally unwelcome.”
(Flavius) “I feel like there’s more you aren’t saying... Ah, screw it. I wish you luck, Kai.”
(Kai) “Thank you, Headmaster.”
