Hailey reached into the bag of holding on her shoulder where she had tucked the spellbook away. At first, she felt nothing but as she thought of the book, she felt her fingers brush against its cover.
That is handy, The elf thought at the same time as she frantically pulled the book open and flipped through the pages. Backing away from the approaching monster
Healing spell,
Rejuvenating spell,
Illumination spell,
Dimming spell,
Darksight,
Etc.
These were all support magic! How was she supposed to kill a ten-foot-tall golem with SUPPORT MAGIC!? There wasn't even a self-heal in here!
Hailey wanted to cry…
Luckily, there was one spell that would be useful. It was in incantation which meant she’d have to form the sigil in her throat and speak the vocal activation.
Pulling the right type of mana from her core was difficult. Her holy mana was easy to access because she was so used to feeling it but the other two types felt like a jumbled mess of mixing swirls. It was like trying to get the clear water out of Koolaid, but at some level it was instinctual. The result didn't feel 100% pure, but it would work well enough, she hoped.

With the sigil shaped she spoke the incantation.
“Take sight from my foe, leave them in darkness!” She pointed sternly at the Golem “BLIND!”
Hailey felt her mana Drain, the majority of the white mana within her core gone with that single attack, and still draining as the effect was maintained. Well, not really an attack more of a debuff really. The creature was still whole and unhurt just, hopefully, blinded until her sight mana bottomed out.
There was a flash of light that wasn't supposed to be part of the spell, maybe some of her light mana had mixed into the sigil. The Golem paused midstep. Slowly turning its head as if to identify what was impairing its vision, when it discovered nothing it began stumbling about, trying to continue its attack on Hailey but unable to identify where she was. It tripped over an uneven section of the floor, falling backward and slamming into its counterpart approaching Kenn and knocking them both to the ground.
The Golems grappled there, the one Hailey blinded not seeming to be able to identify its enemy as one of its own and doing its best to kill the other.
Hailey remained silent through all of this, stifling the hisses and exclamations she wanted to make as her injuries were inflamed by her movements. She wasn't sure if this thing could hear her or not, but she’d rather be safe than the alternative.
Her body screaming at her the whole way Hailey stepped around the monster and then ran as fast as her injuries would let her to Kenn who was at least sitting up now.
“YOu loOk aWfuool, are youohkay?” he groaned his voice pained and slurred
“I’ll be fine. Let's just worry about you” She said her voice filled with the confidence that only came about when taking care of someone else, that confidence ebbed as she looked over his injuries.
The warrior groaned as Hailey poked and prodded his body, A broken leg, as well as an arm, and likely several fractures in other places. Like her, he had broken ribs, but on both sides. And based on the way he was slurring, a concussion, or worse. He was lucky not to be dead!
A bit of uncharacteristic rage flared in the elf’s heart that the Demon King had led them into such a dangerous place. The demon likely could have saved Kenn as well, he had LET her friend be hurt.
She cursed him under her breath, as she began the healing process focusing on the head first.
