The carriage I am currently in is quite luxurious, but I have come to expect that from anything my father owns. Looking out the window I could see the passing houses as we traveled through the city. The carriage was making a squeak every time one of the wheels hit a bump. After enduring this for the past thirty minutes I finally gave in and altered my barrier to block out sound, before I did this I made sure my brother and sister were not paying attention to me. For a moment it looks like I am surrounded by a thin purple aura, this only happens whenever I edit the settings on my barrier.
Over the past few years, I had finally managed to find a way to allow a percentage of certain vectors to pass through it. So now I can keep it active but still have a reasonable amount of outside stimuli pass through. Normally my passive reflection only comes in two “settings”, the first is a form of retro-reflection that redirects a vector back along its original path, the second form causes a vector to ricochet at the same angle it came from. I recently out of necessity created a third setting that just negates incoming vectors by zeroing them out, this would just stop incoming attacks without reflecting them. I figured this would be easier to BS my way out of if anyone ever noticed. Though my passive reflection is also set to allow slower speed objects to pass through because I am trying to toe the line between being protected and being inconspicuous. It would definitely raise some red flags if someone tried to hug me and ended up getting thrown through a wall.
The carriage we were currently in is on it's way to the Celestia School for Primary Education, the name’s a mouthful to be sure but apparently it's one of the best “elementary” schools in the region. This will be my first day going to this school. Eloise will be going into her fourth year and Jacob is also starting his third year.
While most children my age would be scared on their first day, I was feeling quite excited. This will be my chance to experience elementary school like a normal child, getting to have friends and play with other kids. That was something I missed on my first go around.
The narrative has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
I realized early on in my previous life that my only friend was power, and that I needed more of it. This mentality led me down some very dark paths. I had put all my focus into obtaining absolute power, that way no one would even dare to hurt me. Eventually, I got exactly what I wanted, but it cost many lives. Thinking back on it, I'm not proud of the choices I made. It's a miracle I got a second chance and not a ticket straight to hell, but now that I have this opportunity I am not going to waste it.
My reminiscing has come to a halt as the carriage did, we were finally here. The school is a rather large victorian like building. The whole campus was surrounded by a cobble wall with a large entrance gate. The main building was also surrounded by various types of trees and shrubbery. The campus even appeared to have some ponds with some type of magic-powered water features.
The driver opens the carriage door and motions us to exit. Eloise and then Jacob clamber out of the carriage, while they are doing that I return my barrier to the way it was so I can hear again. I move over to the door and jump out, I reduce my momentum just enough right before I hit the ground as to not injure myself. I then proceed to follow my siblings to the main building.
As we were walking the number of other students on the path had increased. They were all wearing the same uniform as we were, for the boys it was some shorts with a blue polo with the school logo embroidered on it. The girls were wearing a dress that reached to our knees, the dress was blue and also had the school logo on it. I hate the fact that I need to wear this thing, I had gotten so used to wearing jeans with a simple t-shirt in my previous life. Why wear this fancy crap when it only gets in the way.
Once we reached the building we were all funneled down a long hallway and into the auditorium. The auditorium was quite large and bore a resemblance to a church, the massive stained glass windows creating multi-colored rays of light that filled the room. We were directed to sit on the theater type seats based on our grade. That meant I’m going to be up near the front with the other new students.
The other students around me were what you'd expect of a typical first grader, obnoxious. They were making all manner of noises, I think one of them even started barking just now. I'm starting to question whether or not this a school or a zoo. Some of them are climbing around on the seats like spider monkeys, this really is a zoo. Here I am pretending to be one of these creatures, I may just lose what sanity I had gotten back.
Suddenly a booming voice washes over the auditorium, “Please be quiet”
