Chapter 10: Confession

Chapter 10: Confession

[Levia's 'pov']

1am

A week had passed after the event in the park, and I had continued to work on completing my mission, but it feels like nothing was working. I started to watch other devils go about their everyday work because I believed that I might be missing something, but in reality, I kept going back to everything that had happened in that park—about that little girl, that devil, and Yuan's childhood experiences.

I know I'm not smart. But I'm not stupid to think that his childhood friend is a human. It's definitely a devil.

She pouts as she thinks.

And here I thought I was his first devil.....Yuan, you slut!

She shouts, then sighs.

for someone like myself who was not taught how the world works. Although what that devil did was ethically wrong, I have a nagging feeling that he is not too far off. ah, I really am different from Yuan.

"it hurts"

Levia has a personality more akin to a human than a devil. However, she is a devil, so even given her nature, she does not feel like what that devil in the park did was inherently wrong, and at the same time, thinking that way hurts her heart.

She looks at the young man sleeping peacefully in his bed as she continues practicing.

Huff huff

She repeatedly hops, and each time she does, her time in the air extends.

Levia has been training these past few days while Yuan has been asleep, among other things. She keeps jumping in an attempt to float. At first, she thought that floating was a skill that she would eventually get as she completed her mission, but she started feeling that it was not the case.

Yuan even smirked every time I said that I was excited to get the skills once I completed my mission.

Yuan….

She suddenly felt gloomy thinking about him.

I feel like he is keeping his distance from me.

As she jumped back in, her eyes narrowed as she came to a realization.

Why am I thinking about this guy again? She ruffles her hair back and forth as she feels confused.

What's wrong with me? This past week, I felt like something was wrong, and this started after that event in the park. Something had changed between me and Yuan, and I don't like it. I can't seem to feel happy.

But one thing I'm sure of is that nothing will happen if I just think about it! Ok, I've made up my mind! she said

Early in the morning, while Yuan was just waking up, a particular devil took him by surprise.

"Hey Yuan, do you always help humans like that?" a direct question.

A case of content theft: this narrative is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.

Even though it has been a week since then, Yuan is aware of what Levia is saying. Having just woken up, he displays a brief expression of annoyance, but even so.

"Why do you want to know?" he asked.

"I just... "Ever since that happened, it suddenly feels different."

"different?" Yuan had a puzzled look on his face.

(that's right It feels different; it feels like there's a sudden wall between us. and I hated it. Do you have complaints with that? You really want me to say this?) She thought as she cried inside.

"E-Even though we don't fight or anything, It feels awkward a-and" She grabs her chest tightly and looks him in the eye.

"And I don't like it! I don't understand why, but it hurts." She closes her eyes as if she were afraid of the look on Yuan's face.

Yuan looks at her with his mouth slightly open, then gives a defeated sigh.

He bows down in front of her as Levia's eyes open widely when she saw him. Yuan closes his eyes this time and

"I'm sorry," Levia said, "eh," and as Yuan looked at her, getting confused, he smiled and continued.

"It's about what I told you last week."

Levia replies with a puzzled face, "Told me?" as she tries to remember.

**

[One week ago at the park]

The devil whispers

"run"

The small girl stands and kicks the ground, running towards the highway.

Before she can travel too far, two hands suddenly slide between her armpits, and she suddenly feels weightless. At that moment, her point of view became much wider.

Yuan gives her a ride by placing her on his shoulder. He smiles as warmly as he can.

"It's true that I lost everything because of what I did, and I regret it, and it made me lose hope. So you know what I did after that? ...I made a new friend!"

The young girl's eyes widened as she began to see the world from a different angle.

"Oii, blue-haired kid, take your friends and come over here for a moment." The kid shouts back, "IT'S BLAKE, YOU OLD FART!"

The kids that are searching for something look at him, they look at each other, and they decide to walk towards him.

"Mister, we haven't found the treasure, you know."

"It's fine, anyway; I said that I'd give you guys a reward, right? Here you can have this, a new comrade," he said, looking at the girl who was sitting on his shoulder.

The little girl went "eh" as the kids down below had a puzzled face reaction.

"You see, this girl is a loner and lame; she can't have friends on her own." "Someone needs to help her first before she can get back on her feet."

He puts her down in front of them as she blushes slightly.

"You guys are heroes, right?" "Can I entrust her to you guys?" he smiled.

They looked at each other as they nodded. "Sure! "We will take it from here!" Blake proudly said

Yuan's face lit up as he pointed his finger upward, explaining, "But this kid is really shy you know, she might read books instead of playing with you guys."

A girl next to him said, "It's fine. We have another comrade who is like that." A bunch of kids look in the direction from the back, and a girl with gray hair and long bangs holding a book can be seen.

She shyly walks forward and slowly offers her hand toward the little girl, saying, "I-I always want to talk to you, but I'm too shy to ask. I-I also read the book in your hand, I really love it...s-so.. C-Can we be friends?" Her face is red, and her hand is slightly shaking.

The girl beside Yuan is shocked and doesn't know what to do. He puts his hand on her back and pushes her slightly, saying, "Go on."

She swung back to reality and looked at the girl with gray hair as well as the other kids smiling in the background.

She grabs the girl's hand slowly as they shake hands.

The other children said, "YEY! a new comrade!" and "Come on, let's go back looking for treasure." The children all hurried away, but the girl with short black hair paused and turned around, saying

"Ah, uh, thank you so much, mister," She bows before running in the direction of her new friends.

"TCH!" the devil glared at Yuan in a distasteful way as he floated besides the girl. Yuan's gentle smile turned to a grin when he saw the devil's reaction.

He is about to go back home until he notices the other devil standing on his right side, staring at him.

"..."

She looks at him as if she were trying to say something, and Yuan looks at her with a trace of irritation on his face.

"What? .....are you going to tell me not to get involved and just let that little girl die or something?"

"No, that's not what—" Levia really tries to explain herself, but

"Haha, I'm just messing with you; I know that devils are just doing their job; forget what I said; this is just me being selfish."

Levia looks at him as he walks back home. She grabs her chest again as she feels pain in her heart.

I could not answer him. I feel like, for the first time in my life, I saw the sad truth about being a soul guide.

All of a sudden, Yuan stops walking and sighs heavily. Levia looked at him with a puzzled expression. He then looked back and opened his mouth. No sound came out, but she knew what he said.

"Let's go home."

She then puts away the things that are occupying her mind and runs towards him with a smile, saying, "Umh."

"....."

They were both unaware that the devil in blue was still staring at them and thinking dark thoughts.
