Chapter 27: Forced Execution

Chapter 27: Forced Execution

The fourth act is the finale, where everything returns to the beginning.

The overall plot of the fourth act is as follows: the group enters a massive building at the docks. After a fierce battle, and losing several companions, they finally confront Janet, along with Linda, who has been kidnapped by him.

Janet has grown stronger, and this place has become his palace, his throne...

He commands a horde of monsters to attack the group, resulting in many tragic deaths, leaving only a few to face him. However, none can withstand the might of Janet, who ultimately summons a powerful entity...

That unnamable pillar of an evil god—once it appears, everything concludes.

No one survives!!

All who witness the unknown deity perish in an instant.

It is an entity beyond human reach, and mere contact leads to the immediate collapse of the physical body.

“So, if Janet completes the summoning, it’s all over!” Alexander's heart was heavy with dread upon reading the script.

Looking at Jin Jianshu and the others, their expressions were equally grim. Alexander understood that their death flags had likely been raised. After all, this is the final act, and by this point, the script begins clearing the stage. Any remaining strategists not yet dead will face death flags to facilitate a smooth clearing.

“The plot will only become more difficult from here. Alexander, do you have any ideas?” asked Carmen, looking weary after recalling his shadow beast.

“To be honest, we can only take it one step at a time.”

Alexander replied slowly, “Janet has shifted from being the ‘protagonist’ to the ‘villain,’ and the key role has moved from Janet to Linda, meaning the protagonist spot is now vacant.”

“You mean to replace Janet as the main character? But even so, it doesn’t guarantee we’ll win!”

“No, with Janet as the antagonist, there must be a corresponding protagonist role, aligned with Linda. If we save Linda, we’ll be seen as the protagonists by the Ghost Space, thus shedding our supporting cast status…”

With the main plot at this stage, things had become clearer. Janet was their greatest survival threat because even if Alex and his group escaped, as long as Janet summoned the “Unnamable Evil God,” everything would be Game Over!

Stolen novel; please report.

Everyone present understood this; each step they took was a direct path to the reaper's domain.

Eric, the high school student, was trembling all over. The sewer was cold and damp, like the devil's cellar, with every dark corner seemingly hiding a dreadful monster.

From the script, he had received a death flag notice, indicating he would face a terrifying encounter and then die tragically.

“What do I do? I’m doomed. This damn script gives no clues, not even when I die, only mentioning a scene named ‘Interlude,’ and the subplot information marked in red cannot be disclosed to others; revealing it means death…”

At this moment, he noticed an iron ladder appearing to one side, leading up from the sewer.

It’s here!!

Eric’s anxiety peaked, knowing this was a critical marker within the scene, triggering his death flag as soon as he saw the ladder.

He now had to follow the script’s arrangement and recite his lines.

According to the script, the scene played out as follows—

Eric found the iron ladder leading up to the docks and exclaimed joyfully, “Here, I found the exit.”

Then, without waiting for his companions to join him, he climbed the ladder alone to scout ahead. He quickly ascended, entering a space like an air shaft, and through it, found himself in a dark building.

He had barely stepped out of the vent when shadows loomed over him from above.

In the next instant, Eric felt his head separate from his body, witnessing his blood-soaked torso with blood gushing from the neck, painting his vision red…

“No, I don’t want to go!” Eric’s voice caught everyone’s attention, but none immediately understood what was happening.

Eric had lost control, ordinarily collapsing in tears, yet suddenly, his movements were no longer his own, overtaken by some unseen force.

“Here, I found the exit!”

He turned his head slowly, speaking in a stiff voice, and then began to move, his body performing extraordinary feats as he climbed the ladder.

“This isn’t good; it’s the script’s ‘forced execution.’ Let’s catch up…” Alexander and Carmen exchanged glances and quickly climbed up the ladder.

...

Forced Execution!

This is a mechanism within the script world to forcibly progress a subplot when strategists become too passive to complete the script on their own.

It often manifests in death flags. When strategists break down due to encountering one and delay the “shooting,” the script forcibly progresses, pushing the strategist into the subplot.

“This makes things worse. Forced execution takes you directly to your death flag, where you lose control over your body and follow the script’s directive, even if it leads you to jump into a volcano…” Carmen explained as they climbed.

“Does this mean Eric is doomed?” Alexander asked.

“Not necessarily!”

Carmen replied decisively, “After all, I gave him a safety net!”

...

Eric was like most ordinary high school students, leading a normal life mainly revolving around the dorm, classroom, and cafeteria.

His grades were decent, though he didn’t consider himself particularly smart. In fact, he was slower than his peers, appearing more introverted and honest. He often learned a beat behind others.

His strength lay in recognizing his shortcomings, working diligently to improve. While he didn’t top the class, he was among the better students.

Perhaps because he invested most of his time in studying, he had little left for activities that interested his peers, such as socializing and gaming, resulting in limited social interaction and a more introverted personality.

He climbed the ladder, gradually regaining control of his body, standing confused and unsure of what to do next.

“I’m doomed, I’m totally doomed this time.”

He kept muttering to himself, completely out of courage to act.
