Chapter 13: The Club

Chapter 13: The Club

The interior of the club was already empty; Madara was cunning and had left with his subordinates, and the police found that he was already nowhere to be found even when they went to the local town hospital.

"However, we've captured their accomplice, and it's only a matter of time before we find them. The key is whether Annan is here."

The group pinned their hopes on the latest findings. The police had discovered something in the club's basement, but upon entering, they were disappointed once again.

Inside the basement, they found yet another bloody slaughterhouse.

Large, hollowed-out skins hung from the ceiling, the organs tossed aside in piles, and the floor etched with blasphemous symbols and magic circles. Candles were placed around, with what seemed to be heart-like offerings.

... The first few police officers who entered couldn't bear it and quickly vomited.

Alexander and Xu Lin walked in, both beginning to inspect the surroundings, but they found no useful signs.

"Let's check upstairs. There’s probably nothing more to find here..."

Carmen realized that the newcomers who accompanied them were visibly shaken, likely overwhelmed by this horrific scene.

Bringing them along was meant as a form of training; after all, this was only the second act. Entering the third and fourth acts would likely present even bloodier scenes. If they couldn't adapt now, what would happen later?

However, considering the unique nature of this world, it's best not to let the newcomers experience too much mental disturbance, lest they lose their sanity.

Meanwhile, Alexander felt an unsettling emotion growing within him—a seed of unease had taken root in his mind.

The death flag was probably triggered, and he still didn't know from where it would come...

Upon reaching the second-floor corridor and encountering the first room, he noticed a window.

It was as if a flash of lightning struck his mind; a segment of the script containing red text raced through his thoughts.

It related to the main plot and the details of his death flag!

On the third day, Alexander (you) and Janet's group entered the club. When Alexander (you) approached a window, he suffered a fatal blow, instantly losing consciousness and dying.

Besides stating it was the third day, there was no date, no time, and no additional clues.

"Wait a minute, why does this script specifically emphasize the window? It could have been written more simply, like being attacked unexpectedly upon entering the club and dying on the spot..."

This narrative has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. If you see it on Amazon, please report it.

Could it be that this death flag inherently contains some informative aspect...

A window—why a window? Could my cause of death relate to the window? If this is a hint in the script, or perhaps a way out...

Mentioning the window might be a warning that the danger comes from outside. If it were from inside the room, there would be no need to emphasize the window, especially using the phrase "approach the window."

A sudden realization struck him—should he take a gamble? No, he no longer had the luxury of time; he must approach the window.

Alexander began to survey the surroundings and discovered other windows in the room, but they were all sealed shut, except for the one before him, which was open.

Meanwhile, a tense interrogation was underway in the next room.

They had captured one of Madara's accomplices and were interrogating him in an empty room nearby.

"You bastard, you'd better tell me quickly where Annan is!" yelled the hot-headed Roland, grabbing the collar of the bald man seated on the chair, but two policemen quickly pulled him back.

"This scumbag has a tight lip, no matter how we press him, he won’t speak. It's frustrating!" A policeman frowned. They had caught this bald man before, but he just sat there silently after capture.

He kept his head down, not saying a word. However, if Xu Lin and the others had observed more closely, they would have noticed the man's lips incessantly moving, as if he were reciting something.

Meanwhile, Alexander was preparing himself. He searched the room and quickly found what he was looking for—two large floor mirrors.

"I don’t know if this will work, but I must try." Following his thought process, he swiftly set up the arrangement.

The interrogation in the next room continued, but the bald man remained tight-lipped, seemingly muttering something to himself. Initially, his voice was soft, but then it grew as if possessed, rapidly reciting something with uncanny speed.

"Something's wrong. He's chanting something—a spell, or a summoning incantation..."

Xu Lin, who had been standing with his arms crossed, initially had no suspicions. The bald man and his accomplices were all restrained, with hands cuffed and tied to the chair. Though he was just a hybrid yet to transform, there were limits to his strength. But at that moment, Xu Lin felt a sharp, burning pain on his left hand where the dark realm contract was, warning of impending danger...

"The kingdom is coming, the hell is coming, the stars are coming, the world is coming, Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn!"

The bald man let out a howl—an incredibly piercing sound unimaginable to come from a human throat.

Not only did Xu Lin feel it, but so did Jin Jianshu, high schooler Eric, and Cheng's wife; their dark realm contracts emitted a red glow, the burning pain piercing their brains, transmitting through the nervous system and into the central pain processing cells.

"This is bad!"

The thought or premonition arose in everyone's mind.

Suddenly, the bald man’s throat convulsed, and he raised his hands to clutch his neck, his eyes rolling back.

"What's happening—is he having a seizure or muscle spasm? Why does he look like he's suffocating?" one policeman shouted in surprise, moving forward to check.

"Don't go near him, this man is dangerous!" Janet warned out of goodwill.

But tragedy struck—the bald man threw back his head and opened his mouth wide, dislocating his jaw with a cracking sound, twisting downwards. A pale hand reached out from his throat, grabbing the face of the policeman attempting to approach.

"Help, help!"

The policeman tried to cry out, but it was useless; his mouth was covered, and the pale hand tore away half of his face, yanking the skin and brain tissue into the bald man's throat. The next instant, the bald man's abdomen swelled as if pregnant with a child.

"Open fire!" Jin Jianshu, reacting swiftly, drew his gun and fired quickly.

The bullets tore into the bald man's abdomen, releasing a torrent of green liquid. But it was futile; the bald man forcibly stood, snapping his handcuffs, staggering forward with his swollen belly toward everyone.
