Chapter 6 - Next Plan

Chapter 6 - Next Plan

'Wow! What a backstory. I never knew that this was the reason why the village started! Her name also seems to be Grace. What a beautiful name for a beautiful woman ehehehe...' I start thinking to myself with a little smile grin on my face.

"So what do you think about it? About how this village was created. About my connection with Caz." Grace asked with a stern look.

"I don't know. I guess learning about each other is what matters in the end anyways!" I spoke with a grin.

"I guess you understand why I think you shouldn't start a fight against Caz." Grace responded.

'Sorry I don't. I wasn't paying attention the entire time. Maybe I should ask her. The Chief wouldn't get that mad about it. Right?'

"Sorry, I wasn't listening the entire time. So is it okay if you explain it to me once again?" I said as I brace before I receive a blow to my head.

Grace let out a brief sigh.

'A sigh. Well, at least it's better than a knockout to the head.'

"Why you shouldn't clash with Caz is because of not only his power, but his connections. He is currently being backed by The Kingdom of Romantis, he is also in control of a few other Kingdoms. To make things worse, years ago, there were rumors about him being affiliated with a few demons." Said Grace.

"EH??!!!" My face went from regular, to worse.

"So your saying they might've put a bounty on my head just because I went and loss to him??!!"

"Calm down. If we're lucky, none of his men might report this to others and the everybody won't have to worry about any dangers." Grace said in an ordinary tone.

'I attacked a public figure and now I have to depend on luck that I'm not on a wanted list, nor this village! That's not even fair! That entire situation was a complete loss!' I thought to myself while fuming with anger.

"Wait! I would've died If I haven't fought back! So isn't this a little better?"

"I think I would've preferred you dead than run the risk of killing us all." Said Grace

'That's the Chief for ya. Kill a few to save more. I can't complain though. A lot of people would probably do the same thing.'

"Now, I'd say since you're in the most danger, why don't you leave the village. Some of his men may only come back for you since you attacked their leader." Said Grace

'Wait really!? I guess it makes sense, but I can't just leave. I would basically be throwing away all my responsibilities and will be stuck on my own.'

"So should I return after a certain amount of time? Maybe a year or 2?" I say with a genuine response.

"I think you should return only when not only your appearance is completely different, but also when your Mana is completely unrecognizable." Said Grace

"Wait! Who knows how long it would take for that to happen!? I would be gone for more than decades! I could proba-"

"Silence. If you don't want to endanger us and yourself, you need to go through this route. Your Mana would probably be unrecognizable within 20 years. For your appearance, that would be a problem." Said Grace with a look of compassion.

'I guess there's no choice huh. I have to leave now before things get dangerous.'

"Well do you have any suggestions on where I should go? Maybe Tourk?"

"I doubt Tourk would try to protect you. They're a pretty strong Empire, but they would instantly be decimated by Romatis. If Romantis were to spread news of you, Tourk would probably be behind you just so they won't get attacked." Grace said while getting up from the couch.

'So I'll be a Traverler then. It means there's no safe place for me to hide and I'll have to always be on the move.'

"Fine then. I think I'll leave 2 days from now. I'll need some supplies if you're able to provide some." I said as I get up and start moving towards the door.

"Alright. I'll make sure to gather some basic survival materials for you." Grace responded with a delighted look on her face.

'Now that I notice it, the Chiefs been very kind during this entire meeting. Is something up?'

"Hey Chief." I said.

"Yeah something up?" Said Grace

"This is the nicest I've ever seen you been. Thanks!" I say openly

Her face then turns into a cherry. That cherry then burst out the words,

"What are you talking about!!?? Are you implying that I'm just cold and have no feelings too!!??" Hollered Grace as she runs down the hallway and enters into what seems to be her room.

'I never knew the Chief had this side of her. Teasing her would be fun.' I think to myself as I exit the house.

It looks to be late at night.

'I wonder how long did I stay there. It didn't feel that long at all. Maybe my sense of time is terrible.' I thought to myself as

I arrive Home. I see that the lights are still on and the doors are unlocked. I open and walk inside to find my Mom cooking dinner.

"I'm back."

"Welcome back Bermil!"

"You cooking something? What is it?"

"I'm cooking Yara Pasta. Turns out that we still had Yara herbs in our storage room."

"Sounds great. So where's Grain?"

"He said he was going on a walk 20 minutes ago. He should be back soon."

'Everything seems fine. I'm gonna miss moments like this when I live on my own.'

I walk upstairs and open my room door. I walk in then I ragdoll onto the bed. I close my eyes and then fall asleep. I then feel the bright sunshine of the sun beating on my skin and then I wake up.

The author's tale has been misappropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon.

"Uwaaaaahhh." I yawned.

"I fell asleep even though Mom cooked me dinner. I should probably apologize later on." I said to myself, still feeling drained.

I then proceed through my morning schedule. Waking up. Taking a shower. Brush my teeth. Eat breakfast. Everything was going normal until I check the clock to see that it's 1 PM.

'1 PM!!!??? If it's so late in the afternoon, why did no one bother to wake me up earlier!!??'

I put on my shoes. Then open up the front door and started searching for the others. I check around the area for about 5 minutes, only to find not even one candidate.

'Where is everyone? Oh no! What if they started training without me!' I panicked as I start to head to our usual meeting spot.

'I give up. I can't find anyone anywhere. This is the only time I've actually been late. I hope I don't get punished for it.' I say to myself as I start to worry.

I start turning towards home and start walking there in a gloomy way. Suddenly, a grey sword drops from out of the sky. I turn to see a child silhouette jump from building to building.

'A grey sword? Somehow, in a way, this feels like de ja vu.' I thought to myself with a strait face

I then start to follow that silhouette. Jumping from building to building. The closer I get, the more familiar it looks.

'Wait. Now that I get a closer look. Is that Reina?' I start speculating as I catch up to them

"Reina! Is that you!?" I hollered.

They then turn around and start to move even faster. It turns out it is Reina.

'Not again. Is something bad happening?'

"Reina! Wait!" I screamed as I move at full speed.

In that moment, I take a leap and land right on her. Leaving her with her face flat on the ground.

"Now, why don't you explain exactly what is going on." I said with a sincere face.

As she finally stops struggling to move, she goes on to say,

"Ugh fine! I give up! Just get off me already!"

'Well that was easier than expected.'

"Now. Answer my question. Where is everybody?"

"They're at the Chiefs meeting room." She said while looking away.

'Why the Chiefs house? Does she have anything important other than my leave coming up?'

"Now for my next question. Why are you not with them? Did the Chief only call everyone but you there?"

"That's not it at all. I stayed of my own will! I did that because! I did that because..." She replies while completely rotating her body away from me.

'Why did she come here of her own free will? Doing this could cause her to lose her spot as a Candidate. She would never do this unless she's loss something important to her on the same day. Wait! Don't tell me!'

"I forgot to tell you that I'm leaving the village. It's currently too dangerous for me to stay here." I said in an apathetic way.

She then quickly turns around and on her face is tears gushing out from her eyes.

"Don't say it like it doesn't matter dammit!" She said as she tries to wipe off the tears.

'I was right. They found out ever since. That means that Reina was sent here to distract me, and the others might be trying to convince the Chief either to come along with me, or keep me here.'

"Reina. Sorry. I'm leaving by tomorrow. There's no staying here. I also won't allow anyone to follow me."

"But-"

"No Buts. I won't allow it."

I then turn towards the Chiefs meeting room, and start sprinting. I'm on my way to the Chief, leaving behind a dismal Reina.

'Sorry guys. I can't allow you to do even just this.'

I arrive at the area to see The Village Guards standing at the entrance. They all turn towards me, give me a stare, and then turn back towards the entrance. I angle myself at opening, then enter.

Right after I enter, right off the bat, everybody starts to run into me, decorating me with tears.

"PLEASE DON'T GO!!! I NEED EVERYTHING WILL BE BORING WITHOUT YOU!!!" Rimwald screeched.

"Is it true!!?? Are you really gonna leave!!??" Sheya followed.

"Don't go!! Not Yet!! We still haven't had our eating competition rematch!!" Reacted Sars.

'I'm surprised he still remembered that match from 3 months ago. Obviously I was destroyed.'

"Guys..."

"Bermil. Is there really no other way." Grain said with sincere seriousness.

"Yeah." I replied.

"I guess there's really nothing we can do about it then."

"That's right."

'Thank god Grain's so understanding! It makes things at least a little easier.'

The Chief then walks up to me, covered in her usual mask attire.

"I have finished gathering your supplies early this morning. All that's left is your journey." Said Grace.

"Thanks. I really appreciate it." I responded.

"Now then. Why don't you spend the rest of your time with your friends and family before you leave. Make sure you tell everyone you know that your leaving, and the reason why, that way people don't start turning my way." Grace spoken.

"Alright. Everyone! I don't want you following me. I chose this option, and I'm riding with it. Also don't try to change my mind because I've strengthened my resolve!" I announced.

Everyone then protest and fret over my decision. It was a long day. We've been stuck there for almost 30 minutes of arguing. The Chief even had to step in a few times just to stop Rimwald from throwing a punch. Not much of a reason for him to. Though, I remembered I had to pay him back from way earlier, we ended up fighting anyways.

About 30 minutes later, the ruckus then calmed down. It was finally over. All the 1st year Candidates all accepted it. Emlia and Nazil came over to watch our fight. The mask may cover Grace's face but even with it on, everyone could tell she was drained.

"Now that it's over, why don't we have some alone time Bermil! I have some new tools I collected from our quest that I still haven't tried out!" Said Emelia.

"Hell no! Why the hell would I do tha-"

'God dammit. I fell for it.'

"This isn't a request! It's an order! Now follow me!" Emelia Spoke in an overjoyed tone.

"DAMMIT!!! SOMEBODY HELP ME!!! STOP HER BEFORE SHE DOES SOMETHING!!!" I screamed in despair.

They all look away in silence. Rinwald even started to whistle.

"There's no need for any helping anyways! It'll just be a short little playdate between us! Anyone object to that?" Said Emelia in a dark tone.

All aware of her skill, they all suddenly start whistling while turned the complete opposite way in a very cold sweat.

'It's over before my journey began.' I infer.

"Now lets begin! How about we start by going to the Trash sight!" Emelia said while laughing her heart out.

"NOOOOOOOOOO!!!"

'Crap. I forgot there's a second part to it. The more I respond in ways that doesn't satisfy her, the stronger the control gets.'

She then takes me out and starts walking.

'Wait a second. This is a complete opposite direction of the Trash disposal. What is going on?' I think to myself, shrouded in my confusion.

"Wait. This isn't the way towards the Trash disposal. Where are you taking m-"

My mouth quickly shuts.

"Like I said, alone time. You'll know the area when we get there." Answered Emelia.

'I know the area? Now that I think about it. This place is starting to look familiar.'

"We're here!" Emelia Announced.

"Wait, this is..."

'It was where I met the 2nd years when they were just 1st year candidates. So this is what she meant.'

"Yep, that's right! It's where I first met you. Ever since then, I've had good times. Picking on the wimpy kid, stealing his food, even sending you into the women's restroom to meet your doom. You made everything fun when I found you."

"It definitely wasn't the one having fun."

"Shut up! I should be the one mad! You're leaving all these good times for over 90 years. I'll be all alone."

"It wasn't really a good time for me. Plus what do you mean alone? You've got Nazif, Aaron, Laura, my friends, and even the 3rd Yea-"

She then gives off a gloomy look.

"I don't even talk to them. I only hang out with them, but I'm only really there to just be there. I was silent on the Entire Quest we were on. You're really the only one I talk to."

'W- WHAT!!!??? Emelia doesn't talk to anyone!? She seems to give off the most energy though.'

"Still though, it's beyond my help to stop you from leaving. Make a promise with me though."

"Uh yeah. What is it?"

"You'll be a full grown adult by then. Let's be even closer then than we are now. You'll be my BFF!" Emelia started smiling with little tears running down her cheeks."

'I never knew she felt this way about me. Makes me a little happier I guess. Well, now to undo this skill on my body.'

"Alright. I promise to be even closer friends then than we are now." I say as I put on a fake smile.

The skill comes undone and what's next is a warm embrace between me and her. We finish hugging, then I head back to the center of the town. We all walk around the place one more time, take pictures, and get small meals. It finally reaches night time and I head back home. I open the door to meet M0m running to the door to give me a bear hug.

"Welcome back, Bermil."

"I'm home. Mom."

"I set dinner on the Kitchen table if you ever feel like eating."

"Thanks! I'll make sure to enjoy it!"

As I'm walking over to the table, Grain suddenly runs through the hallway with a magic camera in his hand, into the Kitchen and says,

"Alright! Since everyone's here, why don't we all take a picture!"

Me and Mom nod in agreement and move up behind him. We all take the most beautiful picture I've seen. As we each get a copy of the photos, I head to my room and lay down on my bed.

"Tomorrows the big day huh? Since there's not really much places I could hide, I guess I should ask the Chief since she's been surviving on her own for many years."

I shut the lights out and fall asleep. I then wake up in a a good way. It is finally traveling day.
