As one of the nurses help me off the bed, I start to feel a little fatigued.

'Ugh. This feels a little troublesome, but through the use the nurses magic I guess I could recover within 3 days.'

As I take my time down the hallway, I take a look out the window and notice Village Chief talking to the 2nd year candidates.

'Now that I think about it, where was he the entire time of the Village Raid?' I thought to myself with a look of bewilderment on my face.

"Yo Bermil! How's your recovery?" He said in a normally cheerful way.

"I'm doing fine! What about you?"

"Everything's fine thanks to you!"

'Good job reminding me that when I recover, you will get your ass beat personally by me.'

"You saw the Village Chief out there right?" Rimwald said with a straight face.

I replied with a simple "Yeah."

"Then you must be thinking the same thing as me."

"Probably."

Rimwald showed his serious side. "Bermil. Be serious. Any thoughts on what the Chief was doing this entire time while we were fighting to survive?"

"I don't know. If I had an Idea, you'd be the first person I'd let know." I said as I look back out the window.

We follow up with a brief pause. Rimwald ends it.

"Well I'll be at my house if you need something. Later." He starts waving as he leaves the small hospital.

'What exactly happened to the Chief in that time period?'

3 days pass by since then, and I'm finally released from the hospital.

"It's been so long since I've been outside."

"Bermil! Bermil! Where are you!?"

'Way to ruin my moment. Was it coming from the hospital? It kinda sounded like Grain'

Grain burst out the hospital.

"Hey Grain how've you been?" I say in a nonchalant way.

"Bermil! The Chief summoned all 1st Year Candidates!"

"What!?"

'The only time we were called was when we were just given the role of Candidate. What is the Chief thinking?' As I brush off my thoughts, I quickly turn towards Grain and say "Let's go!"

We head to the Chiefs house and there they are, sitting on the chair.

'Why does he look so high and mighty. Even as a chief, I think this is too much.' I thought angrily.

The Chief starts us off.

"I am grateful you guys took time out of your day to discuss certain matters with me. It makes me happy to have loyal supporters. Now, as for what I called you here for. Rumors have spread throughout the village, that I was no where to be seen during the Invasion. For that I apologize."

Rimwald stepped up and ask "Chief. Is it possible for you to explain why you weren't there."

The Chief nods his head. Then says "I had to leave the village secretly because I received a request from the Kingdom of Tourk."

"!" The Chief had all of us in shock!

"W-What!?" Rimwald said with surprise completely showing on his face.

Reina continues the conversation. "Why would they request you to do it alone!?"

Sheya jumps in. "Why wouldn't they let us send at least a few body Guards?"

"Silence." One word from the Chief calmed down the entire room.

The Chief continues. "I cannot reveal the reason because it is a private reason."

"Fine then. It is what it is. What I would like to know if we would at least be compensated for our work against the Invaders. As we all know it is against the rules to deploy us during our Candidate period."

Everybody turned on me. Not surprised though, I technically did speak in a rude way to our leader. The one who got us this far.

"Keep quiet everyone. I planned to give you guys a reward within my power. Since you are the first to ask Bermil, why don't you make the first wish."

I start to think about it before I decided.

"Alright then. For my wish. Take off that mask of yours and reveal it to everyone."

"Are you sure that's your wish?" The Chief responded.

"Yes. If I'm serving someone, I wish to at least know the face of the one I'm serving."

The Others start chatting up with Rimwald going

"Will we actually see the Chiefs face?"

Grain responded "Leave my brother for a few days, and he'll come back with ideas completely new. As expected!"

The Chief listens to my wish and grabs their mask.

'Now that I think about it, we've always revered to the Chief as The Chief but not he/she. Since they have a deep voice, it must be a man.'

I was wrong to say that, cause as soon as they pulled of their mask. No. As soon as SHE pulled off her mask, I almost fell for her. Beautiful white hair, sparkly red eyes, with brown skin. This also caused us to shout the same thing at the same time.

"IT'S A GIRL!!??"

The Chief with her straight face responds to our question. "I am a girl by gender, but I don't concern myself with things as that, otherwise it will cause a lot of problems for me in the future. Please keep this to yourself."

"Y-Yeah." I said blushing as she puts her mask back on.

'I wonder how she was able to even make her voice sound deep? A Body Manipulation skill? Even then the Guards should've been able to find out easily because of trace amounts of mana around her throat. Don't tell me they knew all along.' I start heading out of the building with a face of shame.

"Where are you going Bermil?" Asked in her deep voice

"Huh? Oh sorry! I forgot the meeting isn't over!"

You guys gift will come later if I don't hear any rumors of me being a girl to any of the villagers. You got that?"

We all answer "Right!'

"Now the onto the next topic, the Invasion. Did you guys at least get a sign or any hint on what army they belonged to?"

Reina steps up.

"I can't say for certain about the army from the backside, but the army at the front gate all had a sign that said Kingdom of Romantis."

Chief in a not obvious way but expression of fear asked her again.

"Did you say Romantis?"

Reina replied with a casual "Yes!"

I asked in a confused manner "What exactly is the Kingdom of Romantis?"

"A country we should never have the audacity to show hostile intention to."

'Woah. Are they that strong?' I said in my mind as the Chief proceeds to ask the next question.

The Chief in a serious tone asked. "Bermil. Who did you fight against?"

I reply with "Caz. Caz Amora. He barely used any effort and even gave himself a handicap to make things worse. That guy is beyond my level but, I can't let him just go yet. Not until I beat him.

The Chief stands up. "You Idiot do you have any Idea who you just fought with!? How are you still even alive!?"

"Well, I was supposed to die, but then some guy saved me I think."

Everyone's in awe of the unbelievable story I just told.

The Chief calms down. "Sorry. I lost my composure. This meeting is over. Before that. Bermil."

"Yes!"

"Since you indulged in a foolish act of selfishness, you will have a meeting later on with me tonight at my house. Good day."

'I wonder what I did so bad. I also wasn't the only one who fought! Rimwald and them also fought too.'

"Hey Bermil!" Emelia called on me like a Mother does when they're proud of something.

Dammit why is she here!

"How've you been Bermil? Doing fine? Right? Right?"

"Everything was going decent till you came here I'm feeling way better than ever!"

"That's great! So what exactly happened at the meeting?" She said with a perplexed face

"Well. Turns out I fought someone with someone important to the Chief and now I have a meeting wither her late at night."

Her face quickly turns from confused, to a smirk. 'I have a bad feeling about this.'

"Hey! Hey! Hey! So the Chief invited you over late. Well that's a first." She said trying to contain her laughter.

'I guess I'll just play along with her.'

"Yeah to be honest the Chief is pretty cute."

Oh shit. I forgot to keep the number one think she needs to keep a secret, a secret.

Luckily to my surprise, Emelia already knew.

"So you just found out huh? So pretty girls like her are your type huh? Hee hee!"

Honestly at this point, she doesn't seem to be hiding her laughter.

"I wonder what she's inviting me over for?"

"To propose to you obviously!"

'There it is. I knew it was coming.' I said to myself as I look at her with disappointment.

"So do you need any tips? Luckily for you, I'm an expert!"

'An expert at causing peoples downfall.'

"Let's just get this over with."

"Alright! Well listen to this." She then goes on and on about all types of things girls like.

Well then a few hours later. I'm on my way with bouquet of flowers, and dressed up in a suit and tie because Emelia won't let me dress in a normal attire. I enter her house.

'So large! It looks way larger on the inside than the outside.'

She then comes out of the kitchen looking like a mess compared to her home. Dressed up in casual clothes and a baking apron, and then covered in dough or whatever it is. Before even welcoming me, she ask me

"What the hell are you wearing?"

'I already knew it was gonna happen but I did it anyways. More importantly. Is that the smell of Apple Pie? I've eaten a lot of it to know it by smell in my past life.'

"Well, it all started off with Emelia, then we got to this point."

"Well then Sit down, I'll bring some food."

'The Chief bringing me food!? It would feel very weird to be served by your leader.'

"No wait! You don't have to do that! I'm not really hungry."

Growl

"It looks like your stomach doesn't agree with you. Well I baked Apple Pie and I have some Ice Cream too. Want some?"

"Yes please."

As she brings the food over and sets it down. She begins with her serious look and the the discussion begins.

"Bermil, I haven't told you exactly what you did wrong at the meeting right?"

"Yes."

"Fine then. I will now explain the history between me and Caz Amora and why you shouldn't have fought him."

I listen closely to the words she say. Now the view shifts over to her.
