Kai closed his eyes going over his life

Kai was born in the Flowing Petal Clan situated in Petalburg City. Sadly, he was born with a frail constitute and was sickly much of his childhood not able to train like the disciples that his family watched over to grow strong trainers to work in their service all over Hoenn. The years past till finally Kai took the trainer exam upon his parents' request his mother saying that he needed to act like a normal child and head out on a journey with a starter from their specially bred Pokemon. Kai wanted to be treated as part of the clan and was disregarded because of his frail body.

Kai was never offered the training that his clan gave to their new trainers before they started their journeys. It was normal for his Clan to train their disciples starter for a year before they started on their journey into the world to become a powerful trainer. Kai was furious about this, but his father said it would amount to nothing if he didn't find out how to train for himself.

The day finally came where he was to be given his starter.

Kai was kneeling in the training hall on his lonesome none of the disciples or trainers even his mother graced to witness the normally joyous event where a starter is given that is normal. His father then entered the room holding a Pokeball in his right hand.

"Son, I appreciate you coming to receive your starter. I offer you this Seedot to be your partner it is unruly and won't listen so it would never be considered for our new trainers but for you it's a proper challenge to prove your mettle. I was your age when I was given the same challenge after receiving my starter. Go out make a name for yourself and challenge the league I will wait for the day you surpass me."

"As you wish father." Kai closed his eyes accepting the Pokeball trying to contain his rage and not make a scene in front of his father. Kai then stood keeping his eyes closed his body shaking, he brought the ball close to his body. "I'll take my leave then."

Kai walked away and out of the compound towards Route 104 and then finally into Petalburg Forest.

At last Kai released his Seedot.

Out came a brown acorn with a dark grey armor like helmet his face had a domino mask with black circles that functioned as eyes.

I watched as his eyes blinked then locked on me scrutinizing my every detail to his memory.

"Hello, I am Kai I have been given you so I would love it if you would give me a chance to make you strong enough to make a difference."

"Seedot" his eyes gleamed excitement radiating.

"Our first goal is to find a Nincada I hear they live here in Petalburg woods.''

Seedot nodded then their search began

A grueling three-hour search that ended when they came into the clearing with a boy sporting hot pink hair fighting a Shroomish shaking the ground knocking it out.

I stumbled over something hitting the ground the boy looks at me before a bug attaches itself to my face the boy begins to laugh

"I think she likes you." The boy says between his cacking.

Gray pov.

Gray is huffing after his laughter fit as the white-haired boy removes the Nincada from his face.

Kai glares at Gray for a moment before his face softens.

"I plan to take this one with me but how come you have a freaking Trapinch in this part of Hoenn."

"My grandpa gave him to me."

Kai took a ball and held it out towards the Nincada.

"How lucky of you.''

"It was that or I get a Happiny and my grandpa is part of the Elite 4 so I guess luck the clan didn't set me up with my starter."

Kai looked at Gray with awe "Ok that is some major luck you have there being related to one of the strongest trainers in the region and getting a bred pokemon from an elite Pokemon like his Flygon."

A click followed his response.

"I should be going now before that Shroomish wakes up." Gray then began to walk away

"I'll follow you then I'm headed to Rustboro and wouldn't mind company. My name is Kai and the Seedot is Shen." his hand motions towards the Seedot that Gray initially didn't see.

"My name is Gray my starter is Trap. This little guy is Sprig." he motions to the Rowlet on his shoulder. "My other is in his ball right now as he is a little agressive towards other people so he will stay there for now. I guess it would be okay if you joined me."

Together Gray and Kai began to walk till nightfall stopping several times as Kai got out of breath easily.

"Kai, you need to work on your stamina you get out of breath easily."

"I know but my parents sheltered me away from anything physical from a young age because I was born frail."

"It will do you some good to start. In the morning you will be training with me and our Pokemon."

Kai groans at the thought "I guess if you insist on it."

"Go get some dry grass and I will prepare our tents."

"Uhh I didn't bring one"

Gray's eye twitches "At least tell me you brought some food for your Pokemon"

"Seedot doesn't eat it does not have a mouth, and the answer is no for my newly acquired Nincada I didn't think that far when I left home."

Gray's eye visibly twitches again a grin on his face hiding his rage "I see luckily I have ground type food that your Nincada can eat but you owe me for this."

Gray shooed Kai to get the grass as he set up the tent then set up the fire and pepared food for everyone in his fury. finally, they go to sleep Grey in his sleeping bag on top of a mat and Kai on the ground without cover.
