“After the end of another day, I have come to the conclusion that this world is indeed full of weirdos.”
“Said the biggest weirdo! And what are you doing in my room!?”
Just like she said, as of now, I am leisurely strolling around Deborah’s room in my own pace, all to explore a girl’s little personal haven. This room isn’t exactly small, but it’s about the size of an average appartment in Tokyo. On the ceiling of this room lies a radiant crystal acting as light bulb. This room has a wooden bunk bed in the corner and two simple study desks on its opposite . Along side those are two closets and a closed wooden windows. There is also a nice red carpet laid down in the middle of the floor, and that’s about it. This room has no other notable decorations, unless you count various books and notebooks on Deborah’s study desk as room decoration. For a girl, Deborah’s room is suprisingly plain and devoid of life and color. One could say rather than her own haven, this is simply a place for her to lay her back for a night's rest without any special attachment.
“The Headmaster said your room will be my home for the time being.”
“She did? That woman…”
Deborah isn’t exactly pleased with this sudden revelation. Understandably, if I’m a girl I would also lose my shit when someone suddenly sent a strange dude to live with me in my own room. I however would accept him if he happens to be me, of course. But I don’t think that would apply to Deborah.
“Well, I can sleep at pretty much anywhere. I guess I’ll take the hallway spot before you literally kick me out of the room.”
Before I can get myself a blanket and a pillow, Deborah lets out a small sigh as she replies.
“Geezz. Please stop putting words in people’s mouths, will you? I’m tired enough already and I don’t want to spend time dealing with needless rumors about animal abuse. Just stay here for the night, I’ll talk to the Headmaster later.”
Wow. Did she just tell a guy she met for merely two days ago to spend the night in her room together with her? Do girls in this world always this bold?
“Who are you and what did you do to Deborah!?”
“How rude! I’m always me! And stop talking like you know me for a lifetime!”
Deborah understandably snaps back.
“I mean. If I put myself in your shoes for a moment, I guess I would like a good night sleep too if I was locked up the moment I got summoned to a strange world, then got into strange incidents and almost being killed by a lightning maniac. Though the last bit was actually your fault.”
I stand there and just look at her in awe. For a brief moment, I find myself unable to utter any witty remark to talk back to her.
“You’re…suprisingly kind.”
“I’m always kind! I’m actually a very kind girl! Yet, being nearby you always give me a good reason to be a jerk, your actions certainly help! It's like destiny paved a way for you to be here just so I could show my bad side more often.”
"Wow, I feel honored.”
“If you like it that way then I guess I don't mind using you as a verbal punching bag.”
The girl put on a little smile on her face, though it's more similar to an evil smirk. She’s actually very pretty and cute when she doesn’t spend all her time sulking because someone killed every puppies she adopted.
“Anyway, let me remind you about one thing. Kind as I am, there’re still things I can’t tolerate. For your information, you’re currently in the girls’s dorm. If my familiar happens to be found fooling around with some girls, and his master suddenly hears about that, the ensuring result won’t be pretty, I assure you. The same thing applied if you pull some funny things on me during my sleep. I’ll definitely make you feel death itself will be a blessing you will never have. You got that?”
Wow, scary.~
“Right right.”
Even if right now I have the urge for some tricks or two, I just don’t have enough strength left to do it or anything else. Beside, if I’m putting myself into her shoes, I guess I won’t like any more mischiefs happen to me the same day I got a guy barged in to my life causing troubles left and right. I guess I’ll let it slide....for today only.
“Hmm. Let’s hope you aren’t that stupid. Now get out, I have to change clothes.”
She hangs her cloak on a nearby coat hanger then shows me the door with her pointing finger. I sigh as I silently obey my Master and walk away from her room.
“Deborah…Thank you.”
“…Just go already.”
The girl does not look me in the eyes. After I get out of the room, the doorlock clicks when clocked to prevent any peeking attempt from the would-be pervert standing outside. I lay my back along with the door to rest for a bit. Some female students suddenly walk by, most of them probably wondered “What is a guy doing in the girl’s dormitory in the middle of the night?”. Few who recognize me whispers to each other in silence about the upcoming duel. Well, none actually approachs and call me out on being the wrong gender at the wrong place and time, which is nice. I’m really in need of quiet moment right now.
“You may come in.”
A voice comes from inside the room, along with the sound of the door clicking. It’s the cue for me to go back inside. In the room, I can see Deborah in her white nightgown sitting near a desk to arrange some workbooks. Her ankle-length nightgown covers most of her tall body, only reveals her bare shoulders. Somehow, the more that dress covers, the more it adds to her charm, especially those bare and white as silk shoulders of hers. Not to mention that perfect white nape. Truly something worth dying for. She also smell kinda good, thanks to having a bath earlier prior to arriving at her room, I guess.

Wait, stop. I’m starting to have weird thoughts. End this, now!
“What…are you looking at...?”
Deborah turns her looks back to me while her face’s slightly blushes, slightly.
“Nothing.”
That’s the oldest line in the book and the most obvious one. I should give out some compliments to her looks, yet for some reasons, I can’t muster enough courage within me to do the deed. Beside, this is Deborah we’re talking about, one wrong move and I may end up in a world of hurt.
“I’ve always expect you to be nothing more than a good for nothing, yet you betrayed even that.”
Deborah gives out a bored look and sighs.
“By the way, it has been pestering me since this afternoon, but why did you decide to trip Amadia back at the cafeteria?”
“I did it because I don’t want to hear that girl’s ranting from day to day until you accept her challenge. For that, I decided to speed up the process to give the two of you a legitimate reason to fight each other. So yeah, my plan back then was summed up as “Your familiar humilitated me, so as his master, you should take responsibility and fight me!”.”
“Yet you didn’t take becoming the appetizer for our fight into account. Honestly, to think that I have finally found someone who could give Caelan a challenge in a battle of wits…”
Deborah puts her hand on her right temple to ease her headache. She kinda has a point though.
“Well, but you do admit I get the job done…somehow.”
“Yeah yeah, good luck enjoying your new school life in the infirmary after she’s done with you.”
She makes that girl sounds like an actual threat…
“Anyway. Is there any reason why you don’t want to fight her? Is she that strong?”
“No. I don’t want to sound arrogant, but I could beat that girl in less than five seconds.”
Now ain’t that a prime example of humility.
“Then why?”
“It’s stupid, that’s why. Fighting among each other just to make yourself look better is incredibly stupid. That’s why I never participate in any duel, nor would I care enough to watch them.”
“You haven’t fight publicly even once, and people here still think you’re the toughest kid in school?”
This girl just keeps getting more ridiculous day by day.
“They just assumed I’m strong because I’m the granddaughter of a Demon King.”
From her opinion about Amadia, I guess their assumption isn’t entirely wrong though.
“The problem is they think you’re strong as well because you’re my familiar, but I know better than them. Three days are not enough to train, and you’re already hopeless to begin with. How else can you get out of this fight without spending your school life in the infirmary?”
“Isn’t that our homework?”
Deborah bats an eyebrow before her face brightens from the emergence of a new idea.
“I know! How about you beg her for forgiveness? Rather than a week or two, if you beg hard enough, maybe you’ll just have to spend three days at the very least?”
“Calm your horse, girl. The fight hasn’t been decided yet.”
Beside, it’s not like I’m exactly harmless. I maybe weak, that’s true, but I’m not harmless. If not, I wouldn't have the confidence required in the night I made my choice to stay here.
“You have a plan?”
“Kinda like that. Although I still need some help. Deborah, how about you teach me some basic magic tomorrow?”
“What do you hope to achieve within that limited time frame?”
“Whatever I can.”
I begin to exchange looks with her. I win the moment she gives out a sigh in defeat, though.
“Well fine. I’m not in the mood to go to class tomorrow anyway. So you better rest up this night, because tomorrow’s gonna be a busy day for both of us.”
“Thank you.”
Deborah gives out another sigh. She’s very fond of sighing, isn’t she? I hope I'm not the sole reason. The girl then stands up, she waves her hand to the ceiling, and the light begins to dim out before completely disappears. I can still see a glimpse of her figure climbing up the bunk bed though.
“Good night. “
Says Deborah.
“Good night.”
The girl warps herself in a blanket before turning her back to me. Not minding her anymore, I begin to get my personal belongings in my pockets outside, except for two things, and put them on an empty desk. On the desk, there’s some money, a student I.D and a phone. All of them are completely useless in this world. I guess the only things I need are what remaining in my pockets. I take one of them out, because I need it for the night.
A cat-shaped hand puppet I called Mr.Cat.
I lie myself on the bed below Deborah’s. Look into the black cat hand puppet, I silently whisper. Let’s hope she’s already asleep.
“I’m sorry because it took so long.”
“It’s alright, boy. That wizard lady treated me nice enough. No need to fear! It’s just two days! But now i'm back for you, boy!”
Says the hand puppet.
“Now, tell me what happened during my absence, boy. The nice Mr.Cat here will listen to all of your worries."
