Chapter 13:Damn Brat

"Look, if we want her to eat it's best to give her some space."

"Are we positive? It seems to me that the child needs reassurance of her safety before she can relax."

"...Honestly speaking I don't really know or care but I guess, for now, the most we can do is get her used to us, now as a show of trust why don't me and you have that little chat."

"Are you truly unwilling to wait?"

"Yup, now come on I want to renegotiate our contract."

"...Please continue."

Thankfully the contract I made with the Quali is of the lowest tier making it so that it can be dismissed and replaced without any form of compensation. Honestly, I wouldn't even call it a contract since the price for breaking it is only becoming a cripple, at most it's a slightly detailed agreement with some minor repercussions, so I, of course, would love to fix that.

"In exchange for your protection, I will assist you in your growth, guaranteeing you a chance to challenge the final trial of Rakasha. I will provide the mana of two gods to assist you in establishing your divinity and will spar with you once a week."

"You can provide me with divinity...I need to see proof before I can say anything."

Ignoring the brat I release some of Sylvia's mana without a command, causing small flowers and herbs of various colors and species to grow around me, suddenly I find the snow ridden ground within the ice dome covered with plant life, the snow melted and the ground shining. Seeing this the little girl begins to panic once again, several times worse than before, her breath hastening, growing in strength every second. Suddenly she falls to her side, letting go of her legs and instead gripping her chest.

"Damn it!"

My heart begins to warm so I run to the child preparing to fill her with Sylvia's mana but stop as Draumr's mana and tail will reject it, likely making her situation several times worse. I run to the nearest tree and use all of Sylvia's mana to forcefully transform it into a first stage origin source. The tree begins to shrink, transforming from a seeming cloud reaching giant to a three head tall and one head wide wooden ball. It sits still for several seconds suddenly exploding with light, it cracks like an egg revealing a small multicolored crystal tree with a shining round golden fruit similar in shape to a tomato loosely hanging on one of its thin branches.

Unlike Sylvia I can't create a small forest of complete origin sources with a slight release of pure mana instead, I have to use all of my daily supply to barely create a single first fall heavens fall fruit, a divine fruit capable of curing any injury as well as calming the mind and increasing the mana's purity at its first fall or stage.

"Knock her out!"

The Quali tries to move but fails as my reckless command causes the contract between me and him to act up. He's supposed to be protecting me and the brat so he can't punch or she'll die and that doesn't quite sit so well with our deal. He falls forward, his left hand on his back, the pain growing worse every second.

"Damn it, smash the fruit against her chest."

He begins to madly manipulate his mana, causing his muscles to expand and contract, as a Rakasha worshipper he has gained the will to directly challenge the gods, killing their worshippers and devouring their mana, and increasing their own mana purity giving them, quite frankly, insane levels of strength, so within an instant he stands in front of the origin source, plucking the fruit and tossing it at the child.

Before I can even blink the fruit has hit the brat's chest. It does no damage to her, instead, it slows down, sinking into her chest. She calms down, falling unconscious in a matter of seconds. The warm feeling in my heart disappears and the Quali looks visibly better, like the pain that led him to scrunch his face was merely an illusion.

This novel's true home is a different platform. Support the author by finding it there.

"So do you believe me?"

".................."

The Quali looks at me wearing an expression quite rare for a Rakasha worshipper, a face of pure and absolute fear.

"...What are you?"

It seems my use of Sylvia's mana has scared him a little. The mana I borrow is quite different from the mana worshippers use as when swearing your fealty to one of the sixteen ancients you are going to experience more of a qualitative change in your mana. If you swear fealty to Sylvia you can use healing spells but you use your own mana. I have my own mana but I also borrow directly from one of the gods, making any spells I use using the borrowed mana essentially a strike from that god. He truly is quite brave to attack me after I used Draumr's mana but then again he really is just that hated, hell im pretty sure the only reason the Quali spared the brat is because she has her use as a trial.

"I'm your best shot at becoming the next ascended, a wielder of Rakasha's blade."

In this world there are sixteen ancients that follow the ranking of; four gods, four deitys, four ascended, and four survivors, each one either being a blessing in itself or with the ability to bless, allowing whoever or whatever that swears fealty to externalize their mana, giving them access to spells associated to the ancient they have sworn themselves too. Rakasha's blade is one of the ascended, a living weapon from the time of gods that only accepts those who have passed its trials which involve tossing away the gods and relying on your own strength and a weapon provided by the golem siblings, another of the ancients, and let's just say without help from a sexy, handsome, glorious, great horned demon like me the chances of succeeding are slim.

"So are you willing to talk about creating a proper contract with me?"

"...Yes."

"Good, now tell me what you want in exchange for protecting me and the brat."

"I wish to become Rakasha's wielder."

"That can be done, you just have to agree to a few things."

"I accept."

"As much as wish for it to be that easy, I have to take into consideration what our contract would entail. So congratulations you get the diety treatment!"

".........."

"Okay, so you require that I guarantee you a possibility of becoming Rakashas wielder through sparing, mana purification, and pointers. If all these requirements are met you will act as a loyal guardian whose sole duty is to protect me and the child from any physical or magical harm, whether they be lethal or not correct?"

"...Yes."

"Okay, and just to be absolutely sure, your requirement for the previously stated agreement is a possibility of becoming Rakasha's wielder, or do you wish for an absolute guarantee of becoming Rakasha's wielder."

"...I only ask for assistance and improvement that is all."

"You need to be clear as to what qualifies as assistance and improvement."

"...I wish for my strength to recieve Rakasha's approval, you can assist me by training and such...if possible please."

"So then previously stated terms are acceptable, yes?"

"Yes."

"Good, now this contract will also apply to your weapon as well, and since I am providing a greater service the cost and limits of the contract are greater than the previous. In exchange for the completion of this contract and the previously listed terms, you will have a few of your basic rights limited, such as the right to act individually unless commanded, the right to refuse any of my orders, the right to discuss things that I have not permitted, essentially your speech will be somewhat limited, and the ownership rights of your soul, body, and mind. The punishment for breaking this contract is having your soul sapped and your emotions drained, doomed to walk the earth with an eternal feeling of emptiness and longing until you inevitably decide to end it all and if you wish to cancel the contract you will have to offer a service, object, or information worth more or equal to in value to the service I will provide."

"I accept."

"Of course, after all the person who abandoned the gods and killed their followers should by no means be afraid of death or torture."

I reach into my special subspace pulling out a pure white paper covered feint gold lights. Seeing this I smile and fill it with mana offering it to the stupid Quali for reading.

"Here is the contract, read it thoroughly, and discuss any issues you may have and what you would like to negotiate."

I hand the ink-covered paper to the Quali, moving to the brat and checking her. She seems fine but I can't be sure as it seems being exposed to Sylvia's mana so plainly sent her into an absolute panic, causing her to hyperventilate which led to a heart attack. Now that I have Draumr's mana I can heal her mind but I don't want to take that risk as last time I attempted to brainwash the brat I was forcibly dragged into her dreams. For now, I should practice with Draumr's mana which will be pretty easy considering I have the perfect mana resistant test subject traveling with me.
