I go ahead and infuse more of Draumr's mana in my words since I just don't want to deal with him, so he does as I say, stopping his attack and his annoying growling. He may be a strong one but he's not immune to mana, only a little resistant, so In order to control him I just have to use a bit more mana.
"Alright so you will protect me and the kid and in exchange, I'll find you a suitable replacement trial, okay."
"Okay."
"Good, now sign this."
I reach into my special sub-space and pull out a contract, frowning the moment I see it. Unlike the pretty pristine pure white contracts, I usually pull this one is yellow, with a rough texture. Unfortunately, I may have possibly accidentally used a little too much of Draumr's mana lowering the grade of our contract by an extreme extent.
"...What else would you like besides challenging the first ascension trial?"
"I would like a suitable partner, one capable of bringing me and my iompróidh réaltaí to new worlds."
"Alright, I'll fight you once a week, now hurry up and agree."
"I agree."
The barely qualifying contract begins to shine and tear into three large pieces, one balling up and entering my heart, one turning to dust and flowing into the Quali tribesman spine, filling it with magic circles, and another transforming into a copy, entering my special subspace for safekeeping.
"Alright betray me and your spine will snap. You will become a cripple incapable of moving from the neck down without any possible hope of recovering. Even if by some miracle you heal your spine, assuming you break our little deal, our contract will act once again and destroy it, not even the gods themselves can help you."
Ignoring the shivering dog and its annoying cries I grab the brat and pass it to him, wearing a bright smile, activating my eyes so I can play with the magic circles in his body, gently tickling the air in front of me and them, causing a strong shock to spread across his body.
"Take care of this brat well, okay."
I grab the brat and lift her up making sure to wrap as much of her body as I can with the canenane skin blanket and pass her to my new sparring partner.
"...Yes."
The details of our deal have been placed in his head, just like the spells in his spine, marked until either it expires or until he dies. Unfortunately, there's a lot of room to play due to the contract being so low in quality. As an individual, he cannot attempt to harm me or the brat with the exception of sparring with me, in which case both parties must agree to spar and neither is allowed to use lethal force. Meaning he can influence someone else to take action against or when we're sparring he can break my bones or cut me, as long as he has no intention of killing me, and as a Rakasha worshiper, he has plenty of ways to hurt me in the most painful and ugly way without coming close to a lethal injury.
The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement.
Second, the contract limits only him, so as a sparring partner who is supposed to promote his and his weapons growth, when his weapon reaches a level capable of advanced thought it will retaliate against the incredibly handsome demon who holds its master hostage and I can't exactly force something that doesn't have a complete mind to obey me until it's too late and while it may not be the most deadly threat I don't like that there's any threat at all.
"We'll spar after we get out, for now show me the fastest route to the Malia Deserts!"
We both run out the hut, the Quali moving a few steps ahead of me, leading towards the upper west. As much as I want to get my sweet suit back I can't be so close to those strange humans until I have collected enough information.
"Listen up, we'll head to the Malia desserts for now and temporarily make the oasis city our base. If you know anybody who deals in information regarding human nobles tell me now and well visit them first."
"My brother works as a merchant who provides fine gems to lesser nobles, he doesn't have the highest information chain but he can get us a meeting with a baron in the outskirts of the Vania kingdom."
"Where can we meet him"
"It is the thirteenth day of Hu, correct?"
"Yes."
"He should be in my home town, giving mother, father, and our chief a portion of his profits. His visit should end it seven days, and we likely won't arrive at his second stop fast enough. It would be best if we wait for him in his shop at the oasis city."
"Fine."
I can wait a bit, I can build some more connections and sneak over to the Vania kingdom. We continue to run, taking breaks every now and then since my physique isn't exactly the best for long exercises, keeping quiet and focusing on running, the Quali leading the way. Eventually, I become so tired I decide to eat the blood crystal I saved after destroying that village. I decide to fly so I can have some fun before I have to tear off my wings again, making sure to keep my eyes activated, though keeping them a little weak as the constant use has started to strain them a small bit. They're great for intimidation and finding things but after using them to find Draumr's soul they're starting to feel a little dry. I would ask the king for some blood or tears to heal but he may have given me a tad too much blood earlier and while it is a great tool I don't want him becoming too weak, even if his recovery is quick. So I decide to fly directly above the Quali so I only have to look at his head and the ground.
"Are you the child's guardian?"
"Nope, some of Sylvia's worshippers were, I think planning to offer her up after some torture and I happened to find her. I figured she would make a good blame absorber so I went ahead and kidnapped her."
"...."
"You have a demon guarding an incarnation and this is what you decide to ask. Well that's fine it's best to strengthen our friendship."
"We are friends?"
"Yup, now come on what do you want to know?"
"More details as to your relationship with this girl if possible."
"Someome she wont kill, by the way looks like she's starting to wake up so why don't we stop."
We made it far enough so it's fine if we take a small break to check on the kid and besides sunlight is starting to poke through the clouds so there's a good chance that whatever procedures the humans have in place for when their strange behavior backfires has already started. The standard procedure regardless of race or army is to alert the head of the operation of anything strange or if part of a plan in motion stands a chance at failure, of course that's not all but it's the most likely response to operation divine wrath.
Suddenly the area around me fills with mana, interrupting my thoughts and leading me to look down, finding the brat sitting on the ground, her head in her knees and her back pressed against a tree, the Quali laying on the ground in front of her in a state of mental chaos.
"Calm down brat it's fine."
I fly down and force all the mana she's leaking to collect and crystallize, easing the Qualis pain, moving in front of the brat wearing my friendliest smile.
"You okay?"
She's shivering, trying her hardest to fill the area around her with Draumr's mana. I decide to let her wrap me so she can read me once again.
"Look brat. Ah wait no human brat I have to protect you and stuff but if possible I don't want you trying to kill me and my bodyguard every five seconds so why don't we talk a bit."
Still shivering, she slightly raises her head, pushing it back into her legs after a moments hesitation. I don't know if she can't talk because she has trouble or if she simply can't talk.
[Brat, come on you already checked me.]
As much as I hate this stupid mind magic it does have its uses so for now I guess I will use it since it seems she might be more responsive with it.
[Look we need to move soon, so you need to calm down.]
She refuses to respond so I give up on that and decide to treat her like I would a sad animal.
[Brat, you can't eat any solid food and I'm sure liquid foods scare the daylights out of you so how about this. I can make you a vegetable dish that feels and taste good, look I'll start now.]
I use some of Sylvia's mana to grow a single Fleisch Verlet, A single Ahdom Temhe, A head of cabbage, and an olive vine on a nearby tree. Before collecting everything I grab a branch from the same tree and use a minor regenerative spell to mold it into a large bowl about the size of my head.
[You better eat.]
