Day-37 Mistakes were made.

Day-37 Mistakes were made.

"We probably went a little over board on the mind altering effects we put on the first floors."  Smithy said a bit guilty at having taken out over two hundred low level mooks.  They had ripped each other apart at the worst of times and at the best they just layed down to die.  It had been a absolute nightmare for those who had managed to still maintaining enough consciousness to realize it.

He had originally intended for the floor to remove threats but hadn't accounted for the fact that some of the toxins that filled the air were great at putting people to sleep and those happened to be the ones that spread the farthest.  Instead of them wondering around wildly they slogged forwards and could bearly keep their heads up.  The entire place was dragging them down and making it harder to get out alive.

Sure some of them had a resistance to the effects but they still had to deal with some plant based monsters and all their companions that were swinging weapons around at random when they thought something was close to them.  Others had bad reactions and went out unting with the fury of berserkers and then their were the actual berserkers.  They ate some of the parts of those they killed.  Driven half mad as they were they could not stop themselves and no one else was really in a state to put up much of a fight.  It was a slaughter.

"I am just surprised that so many fell for the traps on the first floor.  They were not the most subtle things around if you get my drift."  Teamasa said having lost some of her faith in the world.  It is one thing to see someone fall into a trap and another to let a few zombies back you up into that same trap.  The first time could be excused but if you have so little nerve then you should never enter a dungeon in the first place.

The assassins had taken out everyone that was trying to take charge and pull people out.  With no one around to issue orders the entire thing turned into one of the biggest clusterfucks of the age.  Sure some of them were killed but even still the shadows had eaten well that day.  They had taken their pound of flesh and done with it as they pleased.

When the zombies attacked and torn apart they never stopped creating openings.  Always another opening for assassins to plant the blade in the back of some unsuspecting fool.  Of course with so many rushing through they could not take everyone but they did their part.  They took enough to matter.  They even managed to wound one of the party that started this whole mess.

"At least you did not make a floor filled with curses to finish off anyone that made it through the toxins and drugs.  That is what I call cheating my dear friend."  Embrda said with a laugh in his voice.  While he was impressed with the ruthlessness of his leader he had to admit that without knowing what was waiting for them ahead of time they had not a single chance.

When he went by afterwards to check on those that made it that far he found only three still alive.  Two had all but given up and were on their last legs of life but one.  One, the girl, she knew their was no hope and still held on.  There was something special about her.  Of the eighty three that made it that far down she was the only one to live.

She knew that it was pointless to fight it so she got to the best spot she could.  A place were the hexes were sparce and the curses only stoped her from breathing properly and slowed her blood.  She had used it to her advantage and it had given her the only chance that she would ever get.

She was resting now and soon would be healthy enough to rejoin the world of the living.  Soon she would come face to face with those that had trapped her in hell, each deeper then the last.  The worst part was that with her mind clouded like it was she had gone deeper instead of leaving like she had wanted to.  The place had draged her down, down, down and refused to let go.

----------------------------------------

She was just know waking up.  The restorative spells that had gotten to her when they did was the only reason that she was alive.  The others just had not managed to pull through.  Where she had lived they had faded out like a candle flame.

Dying before anyone could do something about it.  Even with the spells used to try and bring their bodies back up to a living constitution, they just didn't have the fire in them to go on.  They had lost the spark and couldn't even fight for another breath.  They couldn't claw, bite, or scratch at life anymore and so they faded out.  Went into the great beyond to see what their lives were worth in the eyes of those that judge all.

The Gods of Life and Death were to detirmin if they had done anything great.  Great good or evil did not matter, only that something was done.  That was the only way to be reborn with some of your memories intact.  That was the only second chance that you would ever get.  All other way lead to the underworld, the place where each could spend forever doing what pleased them most.

"What is this place, am I dead?"

"No you lived.  Though I hope you were not too attached to those that were with you at the end.  By the way we distroyed the little amulet you were wearing."  Drassisa said from where she was tending to the young woman.  She was probably the only reason that the lady had made it and though it might sound casual how she coud just so bluntly say that to her face.  The fact of the matter was that they were not coming back.  Better to get this over with now then to give her false hope if they were close.

"We only met a few times and that was only in passing.  Do you mind telling me where we are?"  The youth said.  She couldn't be older then nineteen.  A young woman who had tried her luck in the wrong game.

"The bottom of the dungeon, on what could be said to be the seventh floor.  You guys did not even make it down half way before being taken apart."  Drassisa said, they had known about using hord tactics to take out the traps ahead of time and built it so that would not work as easly.

"I only came here because I needed money.  I was dying and could not aford a healer.  I not foolish enough to think that makes it OK to invade your home but for what it is worth, that is why I came here."

"Well you do not have to worry about that any more, I heal you of your little disease so you are right as rain now.  Besides that is not the worst excuse for doing something dumb that I have ever heard so you are good."  Drassisa said to the girl.

"What is the worst excuse?"  She asked wanting to know.

"For the experience!"  Drassisa said trying to put swagger into her voice and grinning the entire time.

The girl could not help but to laugh at this which caused a coughing fit.

"You need to get some more rest, I will be here so you do not have to worry about a thing."  Drassisa said before the girl drifted off to slumber and relaxed.  Being up for that long took a lot out of her.  The worst part was that even though the girl had been healed, because of her condition some of the curses had seeped into her very bones.  She would carry them for the rest of her life, even if they no longer affected her the same way as they used to.
