The Afternoon Aftermath

“Shit!” Conan hissed as Luna was cleaning out another wound.

“I’m sorry but I have to be through or they will get infected. You are being a bit of a baby,” Luna remarked.

Conan was hurt badly during their interaction with the scorpion demons. He had multiple bruised ribs and multiple gashes along the right side of his body. He was going to have bruises all over and had a gnarly bump next to his left eye. Luna could see the blood still dripping out of a gash on his side he would not let her see, but it was going to get worse.

“Please let me mend that stab wound if you won't go to the hospital, then I need to do something,” she pleaded.

Conan sighed, but he knew she was right. He slowly lifted off his torn T-shirt. Conan noticed Luna could not help admiring his body. She looked like did not know a chest and stomach could have those muscles. He truly looked as if he was carved out of marble for a museum. She lightly touched his chest and ignored the slight chill he knew met her fingers. She looked down and saw blood slowly leaking from a stab wound above his hip bone. It didn't look like it hit any major arteries, but it still needed stitches.

Luna sighed, “I am not sure I can do much, but I will try my best,” and she went to work.

Conan tried to hold in his grunts and instead focused on the glow-in-the-dark stars plastered to her ceiling. He could not help but try to find constellations along the random stickers.

After some time, Luna had finished cleaning and wrapping Conan’s wounds. She gave him some leftover painkillers she kept from her mom and threw his bloody clothes in the wash. Conan sat, looking a little sheepish, half naked on the edge of her bed covered in gauze.

“Thank you,” Conan said. “You have done so much for me. You are truly a beautiful soul.”

“Awe, is just my soul beautiful?” Luna remarked with a smile.

Conan smiled then the action seemed to pain him as it was instantly replaced with a wince.

“The pain meds should kick in soon,” Luna responded. She sat next to him on the bed and Conan rested his head on her shoulder. He was so tired.

“I think you should stay here and rest,” Luna said softly into his hair.

“Ah, do you just want to spend some more time with me?” Conan asked smoothly and smirked.

“Not like that!” Luna said jokingly and nudged him off her shoulder.

Conan looked back at Luna, she felt so lovely with the soft warm light from her window. She looked angelic and the contours of her body were obvious under her cropped tank and pink lounge shorts. She smelled of mint and her usual whiff of vanilla. Conan found himself leaning into her. He did not know if it was the pain meds, the delusion of tiredness, or yet another face of death, but he needed her.

“I cannot keep myself from you any longer,” Conan softly growled.

Luna looked at him, a longing in her eyes. She felt it too. She felt a heat rise to her cheeks and wanted to jump him, but not like this. “No, not yet, you are injured and I do not want to make you feel worse,” she said lightly.

Conan shook his head, “I don’t care. Darling, you are everything to me, please?”

Conan leaned his head to her neck and drug his nose up along her chin and back down to her collarbone. Luna released a soft sigh.

Conan could tell she was close, but she was too worried about him. It only made him want her more. Conan lifted his head and placed his lips inches from hers. Conan let out a soft moan.

“Fuck it,” Luna whispered and leaned into him.

The sweet chime of birds rang out the opened window. Light poured in through the glass panes to create patterns over Luna’s room. It was only about mid-afternoon and the room was warm. Conan and his girl were snuggled in bed, both breathing heavily in sleep. Their morning fighting and the activities that followed took a lot out of both of them. They had napped for a few hours, and it was the soundest sleep Conan had in a long time. Too soon, Conan’s eyes fluttered open and only saw the top of Luna’s dark hair over the cream bedspread. The sheets hugged her curves and Conan moved closer to her and snuggled against her neck.

“I can’t believe we were strangers when I spent my entire lifetime waiting for you,” Conan whispered into her ear.

Luna breathed in deeply and settled against him, still deep in sleep. Conan allowed himself to feel his body. Their morning had an interesting start, but their afternoon had turned into a nice event. Conan felt his injuries clotting and healing. Through the hazy thoughts, he felt much more able to twist and the pain medication gave his mind the light dull.

Luna began to stir and she glanced up at Conan.

“Hello,” she cheerfully said. “Are you feeling any better?”

Conan nodded and kissed her forehead. She smiled and turned over so her face was at his chest. Their naked bodies fit nicely together, Conan thought, and Luna was exquisite. Her frame was so delicate and strong, yet her curves matched his like a puzzle. They hugged in silence and enjoyed each other's existence.

“What do you have planned for the rest of the day?” Conan asked her.

“Well, I did have a few classes, but I unfortunately missed them,” Luna laughed. “All I really had was homework.”

“Well,” Conan smirked, “I can help you finish your homework and we can get some takeout. Maybe watch a movie? I know a great Chinese place that delivers.”

Luna nodded excitedly leaned back into Conan and sighed. He pulled up the menu on his phone and they decided between a few options. He called and ordered the food while she named off some of her favorite movies. Conan had seen many films but was more of a fan of classic horrors. Luna liked romcoms and comedies. It seemed obvious to Conan that would be her preference. They decided to watch a parody of a scary movie, the perfect middle ground. Luna slipped on a large band, t-shirt and snuck out of the room to grab the food. She returned with a large, white plastic bag, chopsticks, and her laptop to watch the movie.

They opened the folded boxes and silently ate as the movie played. They both laughed at the same scenes and Conan liked to watch Luna reacting to the screen. She was very engrossed with the bright, changing scenes and Conan was more than amused. He thoroughly enjoyed doing daily activities with Luna. He liked seeing how she existed during her downtime.

After the movie ended, Luna found some leftover pastries she had taken home from work. They ate the sweet treats and watched a few other movies. Luna told Conan about her favorites and Conan described hers. They put on one of his classics and Luna continued to ask questions through the entirety of it. Conan had to not only had to explain the plot, but also the directing choices, and why the film was gritty, and he even told her what it was like to see it in the theater all those years ago.

At some point during their marathon, they both fell asleep cuddled into each other, with Luna’s homework completely forgotten.
