Conan sat and watched the sky for a long while. He was exhausted, but could not get the strength to move. He soon heard sirens from emergency response vehicles headed towards the smoke. They would find only Luna and Stella's body as the demons had already turned to ash and vanished. Conan assumed they would probably blame the incident on a campfire gone wrong among two friends. Or, they would analyze the stab wounds and blame Stella for it all, leaving her the villain she truly was. They would use Luna and Stella as an example of staying away from prohibited areas and non-smoking and self-harm ads. Luna’s legacy would turn into a ghost story freshman used to scare each other.
Luckily, Conan was on the other side of the mountain, away from the main path to the observatory, so he would not have to interact. But, they would begin looking for clues soon enough, so he knew he needed to leave. But he could not bring himself to stand. He sighed and whispered to himself, “I miss you, Luna. I am sorry.”
“About time,” a voice said behind him. He turned suddenly to see Luna. Well, her ghost. She looked angelic. She was herself, only with a light blue hue covering her. She smiled and skipped to him. She went to give him a kiss, only to fall through his face. She pulled herself back and laughed.
Conan was stunned in silence. How was she here? He saw Stella take her. Unless, when he killed Stella, he had set Luna free. She was able to exist in her afterlife in the end. She could move on and be with her mother at last. Conan brought himself to a sad smile.
“Someone is in a pretty good mood to have just been murdered by a witch in front of her ex,” Conan shot with a sly glance.
Luna’s smile faltered, “I guess I should be sad, huh? Is it weird I am not? Being dead feels awesome!” she exclaimed. Conan brought himself to a small laugh.
“I am sorry I could not protect you,” Conan said to her.

Lunna shrugged, “You tried your best. Plus, she was a crazy bitch,” Luna added. Conan did fully laugh at that.
“So, I am assuming this is goodbye?” Conan said sadly to her.
“No, why would this be goodbye?” Luna asked and cocked her eyebrow. “I am haunting your ass.”
No, Conan immediately thought . “Luna, you have to move into the beyond. You have a family and a whole wad of heaven waiting for you. You cannot stay for me.”
Luna shrugged. “They can wait, I love you Conan. I am staying with you.”
Conan groaned. He shook his head at her stubbornness. But, if she did decide Conan was her unfinished business, she could potentially be stuck on Earth forever. Conan had been selfish enough with her, the last thing he could do was trap her. But, she was on her last mission, what was he supposed to do?
“Okay, I know what I need to do.” Conan said to her. Conan began to stride towards the edge of the steep cliff and dangled his boots over the edge.
“What the hell are you doing?” Luna yelled at him and quickly floated over.
“I am going to be with you, forever Luna. I have been so selfish and I have had a great life because of you. I was stuck for so long and you showed me I needed to end a long time ago. I am ready to go with you. I am ready to not be alone anymore.”
Luna sucked in a breath and shook her head. “No,” she pleaded. “I can just exist here with you until you are ready. I can't let you give your life for me!”
“But you already gave yours for me!” Conan exclaimed. “I am ready, my love.” Conan stared at the edge of the cliff again. The sun burned into his skin and he breathed in the deep, forest air.
Luna stood next to him. “Okay,” she responded. “Let’s make this choice together. Let’s go into the light of the sun and live together, forever.”
“Forever,” Conan smiled. He took a step and let himself fly for the last time with everything by his side.
