The Holy War started a few decades ago. It began in the pope's dream, the meeting between the pope of the Life Church and the Life Goddess.
In a white world, the pope floated in the air. Then a brillant, golden light blinded his eyes. And a beautiful woman appeared. With golden hair and green eyes, wearing a white toga, and holding a branch. This was the depiction of the Life Goddess! Even better!
The pope tried to grovel to the 'ground' but he was floating in mid-air.
The Life Goddess said: "Please, stand up. No need for formalities."
The Life Goddess sounded so serene like the pope can just listen to her speak all day. But the pope choked his words and yelled out: "Please forgive your humble servant! I'm not worthy to be in your presence."
The Life Goddess rolled her eyes without the pope noticing. She wanted to get straight to the point. "Oh servant of mine. I came to deliver a message of the end times. Those vile demons and their evil goddess of death are planning to purge the world into carnage. Please, I beg you, save this world." The Life Goddess then began to shed tears.
"Ye-Yess! I will destroy those vile demons!"
"To accomplish your goals, I bestow you 1000 Holy Knights. Mana stones are their nourishment. Please save this world!" The Life Goddess pleaded.
"Yes! My goddess!"
Then the pope woke up and sat up like he was struck lightning. He had a divine dream and needed to prevent a world calamity!

So, the war to purge of the demon race began. Non-demon countries rallied together to form the Alliance. They fought against the demons, but it was the holy knights that tipped the scale towards the Alliance's favor.
One demon country fell one after another, this causes the death goddess, Deco, to feel threaten! Once she saw what those holy knights were, she knew.

In a space where there was no time or mass, beyond mortals' comprehension, was a realm where gods congregated.
The Life Goddess was mingling with other goddesses on top of clouds, having tea.
Then a shadowy figured overshadowed them in the sky.
The Life Goddess sighed and didn't even look up to know who it was.

"Delena! You dare intervene!!!!!" Deco shouted across the realm. The other goddesses chuckled.
"I didn't intervene Deco. I just sent a message and some toys, no big deal. If you didn't want me to talk and send gifts to a follower of mine, then I shouldn't slip by you!" The Life Goddess, Delena, laughed out loud.
Deco was furious! Deco summoned a black spear and sent it towards Delena! But a shield was protecting her and the spear crumbled!
"Ahhh~ It feels so nice to have so many followers. Doesn't it Deco?" Delena taunted Deco.
Delena and her cohorts were preparing to put a smack down on Deco. But a elderly man with a pocket watch in his hand, stopped Deco from continuing to fight.
"Deco my dear, this is not the time. Please ladies, enjoy your tea." The eldery man grabbed Deco's bony wrist and disappeared into his own realm. He was the god of time.
"Hmph." Delena snorted.

In the god of time's realm filled with ticking clocks, he managed to calm Deco down.
"My followers are dwindling. I feel weaker every second because of that witch!" Deco was in panic. The lesser followers and faith she had, the weaker she gets. If she had no one, she'd cease to exist!
"Yes, this is dire. But fighting against her will not solve anything."
"Thank you, Yelou."
Both Deco and Yelou were having their own tea time, but it didn't solve Deco's problem.
"But, what should I do? The war on my world stopped but I will not gain any more followers." Deco was distraught.
Deco didn't have much of a following in the other worlds, except small time cults. The only, main world that Deco managed was her sole source of believers and faith. She can't appear on her world and punished the evildoers. There's a rule to not directly intervene in their world or other worlds. But sending divine messages or gifts were possible. That's why every god tried to prevent other gods to sway followers of their faith or others to accomplish their end goals.
It might be playing around for other gods, but Deco didn't had the luxury to do that. She might disappear at this moment!
"Then why don't you bestow powers onto a few followers. And have them lead your people?" Yelou acquired.
"I wish I can. But powers are also under the term of directly intervening."
"Bah! Those magical infused knights should categorized as such! Do you have any weapons to give them?"
"I don't have such gifts. Delena is lucky to have such an advanced fused magical and technological world."
Yelou stroked his beard. This was a dire situation. Delena can't be punished for any of this, should they rely on the demon race to rise on their own?
Wait a minute...
Yelou clapped his hands together and his eyes twinkled. "My dear, I heard this was a common trend in other worlds. Gods had been picking out souls from the reincarnation cycle to be their champions or heroes."
"Is that true?"
"Yes indeed. Souls in the reincarnation cycle flows through all the worlds. When a god's world are in danger or felt a threat, the god 'summon' a soul and bestow power on that person. Then send him or her to their world to fight the disaster."
"It's not directly intervening if it was just another soul being reborn..."
"Exactly. Like I said, it is a trend these days."

Then Deco arrived at the River of Souls, searching for a particular soul to help her out. She witnessed many mortals' history, behavior, and ideals. Deco was a picky person, so it took some years to find that person. She had Yelou watched over her world just in case Delena wanted to cause trouble again.
Then she found someone, at least a capable person, and that was Kei.
