Earning and Training

Currently, I am steadily earning money from selling hairclips and wooden figures. Mr. Quinto has been transferring the money directly into my account, which I can conveniently check at the local hall using my magical mark.

The demand for hairclips has inspired me to expand my product line. I have decided to create a variety of sizes to cater to different customers. For adults, I will offer a standard size, while for the girls, I will introduce a smaller size. To make them even more appealing, I plan to decorate the hairclips with charming shapes such as stars, hearts, and other cute designs. I hope these additions will attract a wider range of customers and bring even more joy and style to their hair accessories.

At my shed, I proudly displayed a sign that read ‘Earthly Creations’. And if someone asked about the sign's meaning, I simply replied to them, because it just sounds cool with a grin on my face. In the shed, I have a small team working with me to create hairclips. Novn and Vondale take care of creating the springs and not long ago I asked them to assemble the hairclips.

Lianee and Eyka were in charge of adding lively colors and artistic flair to the hairclips, making them visually attractive. It seemed that the color task was more appealing to the girls, and they willingly took it on with their creative talents. Their passion for colors and artistic touch made the hairclips truly beautiful and eye-catching.

Ethan: Hey Lianee, Eyka, come over here! I have something to show you both.

Lianee: (curious) What is it, Ethan?

Ethan: See these colors? Red, blue, and yellow.

Lianee and Eyka: (nodding) Yeah, we know those.

Ethan: Watch closely (I mix red and blue together)

Lianee and Eyka: (amazed) Whoa!

Ethan: Now, let's try yellow and blue.

Eyka: This is so cool!

Lianee: (excitedly) Like magic...

Eyka: I had no idea we could make more colors!

Their eyes widened with wonder as they saw how combining different amounts of the primary colors could produce a whole spectrum of new shades. It was a joy to witness their excitement and curiosity as they experimented with the newfound knowledge, creating a myriad of colors to add to the hairclips.

Ethan: (examining the paint supplies) Hmm, we're running low on paint... . I need to stock up more.

Because of the increasing demands, I have partnered with Mr. Yonx, a highly skilled carpenter in our village, to craft the wooden components of the hairclips, enhancing their inherent beauty. In return for his exceptional woodworking expertise, I compensate Mr. Yonx with a commission for each piece he creates.

Sometimes, Brother Liam and Sister Olivia assist me in finding the wood materials from the forest when I can't go there myself. With beaming smiles, Brother Liam and Sister Olivia bring armfuls of freshly gathered wood to the shed. Inside, I've prepared a special spot to store the materials, and as they enter, the shed fills with the natural and earthy scent of timber. The sight of the neatly stacked wood ignites a sense of excitement and creativity, knowing the artistic possibilities that await us.

Ethan: Thanks once more for helping me gather the wood materials. I really appreciate it!

Liam: Don't mention it..

Olivia: Count on us anytime! Plus we earned some money too.

Ethan: Could you help me pass some woods to Mr. Yonx too

Liam: Sure..

Novn: (stretching) Whew! That was quite a task, but we did it!

Vondale: (smiling) Yeah, we really pulled it off.

Eyka: (raising his hand for a high-five) To more hairclips and more fun!

Lianee: (joining in the high-five)

Ethan: I told you, you all can stop anytime you want... Well, you all did a great job

Vondale: (smirking) I can't wait to see the smiles on the villagers' faces when they wear these.

Lianee: (nodding) That's the best part. Knowing that we made something that brings joy to others... he he he

Ethan: (handing out money) Here you go, Novn, Vondale, Eyka, and Lianee. Your payment for the hard work!

Novn: (eyes widening) Wow, Ethan! This is more than I expected. Are you sure?

Ethan: (smiling) Absolutely! You all deserve it. The hairclips may not have been sold yet in the village, but I received a deposit from Mr. Quinto for the sales demand outside the village. The selling price is much higher.

Vondale: (grinning) This is the first time I've earned my own money!

Eyka: (hugging Ethan) Thank you brother Ethan. It means a lot to me.

Lianee: (coughing) Me too! This money will come in handy.

Ethan: I'm thinking of starting another project, and I would love to have your help with it.

Novn: (curious) Another project? What is it, Ethan?

Ethan: I was thinking of making something else that we can sell outside the village too.

Vondale: (enthusiastically) Count me in! I had a blast making the hairclips, and I'm up for another adventure.

Eyka: (smiling) Yes.. me too!

Lianee: (excitedly) I'm on board as well..

Ethan: I'll fill you all in on the details later, but for now, let's head back.

On my way home, I made a quick stop at the garden and carefully plucked some fresh herbs. Their fragrant aroma filled the air, and I knew they would add a delightful touch to the dish I planned to prepare. I wanted to introduce the family to a new dish from earth culture a hand-cut pasta; easy fried pasta. As I prepared in the kitchen, I found myself unable to resist the craving for some seafood ingredients; the thought of delicious spaghetti vongole sounded absolutely perfect. Is seafood available in this fantasy land?

Continuing in the cooking, I drizzled some oil into the pan, chopped a variety of fresh vegetables, and added a generous handful of fragrant herbs. While the herbs were originally meant for the apothecary, I couldn't resist the temptation to use them in my cooking, hoping they would add a unique and delightful twist to the dish.

Sarah: You always have such a unique way of preparing dishes, and today you're adding a few herbs into the mix!

Ethan: I read about these herbs in the book at the local hall. I don't think it would do any harm to use them in cooking. In fact, the herbs are said to be beneficial for improving sleep and energy circulation.

Sarah: (sniffing) It smell nice.

As the meal came to an end, I helped Mom clean the table. With a contented smile, she accepted my assistance. I wiped the table clean with a damp cloth, making sure to remove any leftover crumbs or spills. The warm glow of the kitchen lights and the faint aroma of the delicious meal lingered in the air.

Travis: Ethan, could you come here for a moment?

Ethan: Dad..?

Travis: I've been meaning to discuss your training with you..

Ethan: Hooo, a training schedule is on the way! When are we going to start?

Travis: Well, I thought we could begin in next two days. I will teach you some basic martial and weapon techniques.

Ethan: Okay...

Travis: For martial training..You need to build up your agility and some strength.

Ethan: Got it Dad.

Travis: So...before we start the lesson, as part of your training, I'd like you to run around the crop field ten times.

Ethan: Ten times? That's a lot! Huehh...

Travis: And I have a small task for you that will be good exercise for your body.

Ethan: Huh??

Travis: Help me fill up the barrel near our crop field...

Ethan: Oh, come on! We can just use magic for that...

Travis: (chuckles) I know we can, but sometimes it's good to get some physical exercise.

Ethan: Alright, alright! I guess I have to do it.

Travis: Do you think you can keep up with it, Ethan?

Ethan: I'll do my best.

Dad playfully ruffled my hair, giving him a warm smile. He then reached for a wooden sword, placing it gently in my hands for my weapon training.

Dear Diaryless Diary,

I can't help but wonder if I need to practice with a weapon. The thought of wielding a bow seems like the most tolerable option for me. And speaking of my magic, when will it awaken? I've been trying so hard to make something happen, but nothing seems to work.

I've read the book on magic from the local hall, and it only explains how to control magic, not how to awaken it. Sometimes, I find myself mimicking the tropes from isekai novels, imagining myself casting a "fire-ball" or a "wind-cutter" but nothing happens. It's frustrating and feels hopeless at times.

Well I guess I'll keep trying and searching for answers. Until then, I'll continue my training and hope that someday my magic will finally awaken.

The best thing right now is that I'm earning money with my hairclip business. It's exciting to see the funds grow, and once I have enough, I'm considering going on a journey and traveling to new places.

But then a thought crosses my mind – Do I need to go school in this fantasy land?

The money maker;

Ethan
