Chapter 5 - All Interlude II

Katsuo was down on his knees, holding his boiling wound. Behind him, only indiscreet, shadow-like creatures  could be recognized, as the other workers ran in panic. Dark color blurs who seemed to be fighting desperately against the Guards who 've woken up and came at them guns blazing. Nana approached him quickly and the young man turned to her side, as soon as he felt her touch on his shoulder. He could only recognize her when their faces where really and even then it seemed as if her silhouette was something dynamic, rather than static. Her eyes resembled two floating spheres of no particular color. Her hands beamed a strange light as she touched him. She was talking but it was as if her voice came from very far away.

"You need to get up." she said and helped the young man get back on his feet.

He was looking all around him.  His eyes revealed the extent of his frustration as everything he saw was either black or a very fuzzy. The sounds he picked about were out of this world, yet strangelly familiar.

"Wh-What is happening to me?" he stammered.

She cleared his legs from the sticky dust. After that she touched the small rock hanging from the boys neck and then she suddenly took Katsuo's head and made his eyesight focus on hers. Her form was a lot more definite now. She had a large smile on her face and her eyes were sparkling with cunning a reassurance of her joy and determination.

"Listen to me boy." she said on a voice so moist the young man thought it was being engraved on his eyers "You start walking now. The Stone will guide you through the desert and take you to  Alberto-san. Don't stop and don't lose the Stone. Do you understand?"

If you spot this tale on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.

The boy nodded affirmatively.

"Okay then." she said and smiled once again. After that she took a good look of her grandson. He's gonna be great, she thought to herself and she subsequently touch the Stone. It started to glow with a light all the more pale.Their eyes met. He smiled and then sprung to hug Nana. They stayed like this until the young man started to feel a push in his body. Nana seemed to know what was happening.

"You must go." she said and backed off "Don't worry. We got everything under control here."

He didn't move an inch. Yet rather he stayed gazing his grandmother's figure the was moving backwards, away from him and into an chaotic black abyss of shadows.

"Be Great!" she said just one moment before she disappeared completely from the young man's mind. He raised his hand but it was a futile effort and he knew it. She was safe and the workers would be now free to act at their own will. The Guard's Leader was dead. He had killed him. But what was that power? Why didn't Nana say anything about it?, he wondered as he felt the same mild push to start walking. There, far, so far, away, a blue light was glowing, similar to same coming from the talisman hanging around his neck, but much clearer, breaking the blackness around him and calling him to come closer.

He started walking towards the glare, as it was the only thing he was able to see besides his body and his bloodstains on this dark ambience.
