chapter 4.2 : Awakening

Chapter 4.2

" Do you think you can beat me, " The boy within the pillars snorted, it was as if the concept was inconceivable " My powers are unmatched !"

But the faces of the eight warriors did not betray even a hint of emotion. They had a duty that was entrusted to them, no amount of intimidation would shake their resolve.

Instead their mouths opened and simultaneously started to chant. Otherworldly sounds and syllables echoed through the hall.

" What is this ! Aaah " Arin exclaimed as he fell on the ground with pain. The chants the warriors recited had strong effects. They had shaken Arin's mind to the point where his five senses grew dull.

The pillars that stood the tests of time started to deteriorate. Cracks shaped like spider webs started to cover their surface. The pure white light they emitted receded and in its a place a formless aura awakened.

Although it did not rampage like the purple light from the boy, the new aura was like a meteorite hitting the earth. It was indiscriminate and inevitable.

The tale has been illicitly lifted; should you spot it on Amazon, report the violation.

The ground shook violently and large pieces of the ceiling above started to rain on the ground. Finally the pillars shattered entirely and the formless aura descended with its full might.

Waiting for this exact moment the warriors drew on the remaining shred of energy they had. Their weapons were thrusted in the barrier to aid the formless aura in crushing their opponent.

Realizing the extent of destructive energy heading towards him, the boys face contorted. There was clear spite and malice within. Even in this situation he was unwilling to surrender.

" AWOOO ! " A ridiculously loud howl sounded out. A certain forgotten fox was running towards the center of activity. Its muscles tensed as it drew close to the fight and propelled itself. The fox's body turned into a blur and headed for the boy.

Not realizing what struck him the boy keeled over. However in that moment his eyes vaguely saw a fox slamming into him. Its eyes were filled with a sense of nostalgia that confused him further.

But it didn't matter because in the next second a huge explosion occurred that sent shock waves throughout the hall. It hurled chunks of rocks flying like projectile all over.

At this point Arin who was laying flat on the ground felt his eyes watering. ' The fork !!!! ' if he had known this would happen he wouldn't have followed that damn fox. The fact that he managed to hold his bladder was a commendable act.

His body was similarly flung away and smashed into a nearby wall.

Before he passed out the thought that occurred in his mind was

'At least the last moments of his life were visually appealing '
