chapter 4.1 : Awakening

A blaring red light appeared and the center of the eight pillars and started rapidly grow and expand. Its presence did not light up nor bring warmth to its surroundings.

Instead it was amplifying the cold causing the temperature to drop even lower. The shadows within the hall seemed to have come to life. Their pitch black hand started to extend from every corner.

Arin couldn't control his limbs from trembling as the flame of the torch began to grow dimer. An ominous presence seemed to have been awakened.

However it was at this moment that the eight pillars came to life. Reacting to the red light, the pillars started to slowly emit a white light. Numerous symbols floated on top of each pillar, they were fluctuating constantly.

Strangely Arin could hear a faint chant sounding in his heart, it dispelled the darkness instantly.

Placed strategically, the white light from the pillars covered the red light like a suppressing barrier. It had a pure and ethereal quality that naturally opposed the red light.

" Thank god." Arin sighed in relief as the white light did its work. However despite the momentary retreat the red light started to retaliate. Its untamed power caused the pillars to shake as it grew brighter.

Sensing that it could not suppress any further, the white light started to move towards the statues that sat outside the pillars.

Its pure light seeped into their bodies. Instantly their eyes shot open. They had a piercing gaze that resembled a ferocious tiger.

" What,,,how ?. " Arin proclaimed in shock. Previously Arin considered them to be statues yet now they stood filled with life and vigor.

The dust that had accumulated on their figures, a clear manifest of their existence through the ages, was flung away.

With one fluid movement they raised their weapons. The barrier created from the white light started to recede. Without any hesitation the directly pierced the red light. It immedietly retreated.

Arin felt the air being displaced as their attacks met the red light. Obviously the clash of supernatural powers had great effects. Despite desperately wanting to flee, Arin stood in his place stuck. His body refused to move.

His fear had reached new heights.

" Ha ha ha ha " The sound of laughter reverberated through the hall. There was a clear annoyance and rage in the voice. Arin could almost foresee the appearance of a great devil.

The weapons of the warriors that were piercing into the red light had now halted in midair. An invisible force prevented any further movement.

At this point the red light had completely condensed into the form of young boy. There was a leisurely smile on his face that contradicted his act of rage a few moments ago.

' Sure enough ' Arin thought , just what they needed.

The air around the pillars did not calm down and instead blew even fiercely. It caused the ground near them started to cave in. The warriors used even more force as the muscles on their arms started to bulge. Their weapons moved again slightly by a hairbreadth before halting.

Sparks started to fly in the air as the weapons collided with the invisible force.
