Jonathan watched as the moon flashed around the world with its red light of destruction. Despite the fear he held his ground.
The world began to go through changes. Trees were swaying abnormally and pets were beginning to evolve into ferocious beasts.
Jonathan, on the other hand, was prepared. He dashed towards the woods as fast as he could as he avoided every mutating monster.
When he reached the woods he made sure it was safe and let out a breath. As he arrived there he thought to check his stats.
"Might as well see them to know what I gotta deal with..."
Before he even checked them Jonathan knew that it wasn't going to be anything impressive. He was nothing more than any one of the humans running away from their homes in fear.
Or the humans calling the police in hopes of getting some assurance. Or even the ones that were already dead.
Just thinking about it left a bitter taste in his mouth. If he thought too highly of himself it would lead to his death. The only way to counter this was to think of himself as nothing more than a normal human.
Without expecting anything Jonathan brought up his middle finger to his forehead and called out, "Status, Open!"
WOOM~
A blue light shined brightly as a screen appeared in front of his face.
-Jonathan Reed's Status-
Level - 0%
Strength - 2%
Agility - 3%
Constitution - 3%
Magic - 0%
Spirit - (Copper) 45%
- Skills -
N/A
Assessment: E+
Jonathan stared at his stats in shock. Although his strength, agility, and constitution were all at the level he expected, the thing that was off was his spirit level.
All stats were split into certain levels the first level was the unnamed level that all humans started off. Once the stat reaches 100% in the unnamed level they would move on to the Stone level.
Which was followed by the Copper level, then the Iron level, the Silver level, the Gold level, and the Diamond level. The difficulty of increasing by 1% in any level above the unnamed level was widely recognized.
Players would have to kill monsters and utilize their cores to raise any stat. The other way to raise it was by raising your level. But even that was incredibly hard. Levels were split into the same realms. Nobody had ever gone past the Diamond level so it remained a mystery to even Jonathan.
This story has been taken without authorization. Report any sightings.
Because of how hard it was to level up many gave up on levels and began to focus solely on skills, accessories, and stats to show their power. It wasn't uncommon to see insanely strong people who were technically at the Copper level.
But what most didn't realize until about a year before the dragons came, was that the higher one leveled up the easier it was to increase stats.
But at that point, it was already too late for humanity to try and fix its mistakes. But with this knowledge, Jonathan was confident he would be able to change the fate of the world.
Nonetheless, Jonathan was still surprised. His spirit level was much higher than when he had first started. Although it was a whole level weaker in comparison to before his death it was incredibly high for a beginner.
Jonathan racked his brain to try and understand why his Spirit level was so high. Realization hit him hard! His spirit and soul was still the same from before his reincarnation. Which meant that his Spirit level would naturally be higher than most people's because he had more experiences.
A smile appeared on Jonathan's face. Each stat was incredibly important. Having a boost like this was slightly overpowered. It would allow him to have a clear mind and some skills would require certain stat levels to use.
But Jonathan's first order of business was to find a skill or accessory. There was no way for him to survive with his strength out here.
This was the second part of Jonathan's plan. A loophole. Every animal and substance in the world would go through an evolution.
Yes, EVERYTHING. Every bug, plant, and even trees would evolve. Although their cores had weak magical energy it would be useful for Jonathan as he was incredibly weak.
He ventured further into the forest. About thirty minutes in Jonathan found an open area just about big enough for a tent.
He placed his bag down and took out a tent that was a bit smaller than the open area. As he set up the tent Jonathan looked around to make sure no animals were nearby.
Because of his Spirit level, he was able to concentrate intensely. His intuition was also almost always on point. Jonathan has the confidence to be safe and even if he was in danger he would be able to safely get out of it.
.....
Inside the tent, Jonathan was going through his bag. At the bottom were two knives he had packed. He carefully took them out with caution. He placed each of them in a pocket and packed up.
Jonathan marked off this place as his "base" and quickly exited the tent.
It had been about an hour since the moon began scanning through the world with its redness. It was only the Trial Zone but if one underestimated it they would die the moment they did.
Leaving the forest Jonathan was greeted with a scary sight. There was blood everywhere. Bodies were on the floor as policeman caught against mutated dogs.
These dogs couldn't use skills but their strength was too high for anyone currently there to fight it head-on. Jonathan snuck by and arrived at the location of a dead policeman.
BANG~
BANG~
BANG~
Gunshots rang loudly as the mutated dogs only expressed more anger at their wounds. It was unlikely the policemen would be able to kill any of them if they didn't hit any vital points.
Jonathan grabbed the dead mans gun and ran with his head low. These dogs were known as Iron Fang Dogs because of the strength of their teeth and speed.
But they had a fatal weakness, their tongues were the most sensitive part of their body. Using this knowledge Jonathan hid far enough away and waited for the Iron Fang Dogs to finish off the policemen.
He had already acknowledged the fact that many sacrifices had to be made to reach his ultimate goal of saving the world from its destruction. These policemen would be the first.
Their deaths would be a great way to distract the Dogs while they were eating and shoot their tongues.
Looking at them Jonathan let out a breath. He held his arms up in a praying position and spoke with blank eyes,
"Thank you for your sacrifice."
