Chapter Forty:
The Affair
Nicodemus
“You’re sure he’s here?” I asked again as I shut my car door, staring up to the house before us. It was a small white cape that was set on a desolate field in the middle of nowhere, as far from the academy as it could possibly be. It was where no one would ever think a house should be, and the last place I expected Blaine Levasseur to live.
[Positive. We scoured the databases, and the only Odysseus that went to Valyce lives here. He doesn’t exactly have a common name.] Alice assured.
I went up to the door and knocked twice, waiting patiently. A moment after a set of footsteps echoed through the small place, until three sets of locks popped off the door. It swung open slowly, and before me stood a wide eyed, shocked Odysseus. His incredibly dark brown hair was pulled into a tiny bun, but he had a chunk of bangs over the right side of his face. His skin was like honey in the light, making his gorgeous, shimmering gold eyes brighter than the sun that beat down on us. “Can I help you?” He asked stiffly.
“I, um... I came to...?” I stammered.
“What are you doing here, Nicodemus?”
I smiled bright, my adrenaline pumping like fireworks were going off in my brain, “I’ve been looking everywhere for you! You practically fell of the planet. We were worried about you!”
“Well, I’m fine, thanks.” He sharply snapped.
“I…do you want me to leave?” I sadly asked.
He cut his eyes away from me, his hands trembling slightly, “I dunno…” he unsurely said.
“I won’t bother you if you don’t want me to, I promise. I just wanted to know you’re ok…” I tried desperately. He fell quiet; I sighed and stuffed my hands in my pocket. “Ok, I get it.” I whispered sadly, turning towards my car.
As I went to walk he let out a loud sigh and grabbed my arm, yanking me back. “Come inside if you want,” he growled, which made me smile.
“You sure!?”
“Come on, before I change my mind,” he snapped as I followed him in. He locked the door loudly, mumbling to himself as I looked around. “Want a drink?”
“Sure!” I sat at the table as he pulled two sodas from the fridge, popping the tops and handing me one before sitting across from me, his eyes down at the table. “So, what’s been going on? You’re quite grumpy today.” I joked, kicking my legs to try and get his attention better.
“Pandora, that’s what.”
Horror flashed through me, pure and utter terror, as my legs halted mid swing. “Oh, yes...” I sighed. He tapped his fingers loudly, his eyes still as far from me as possible. “Hey, why won’t you look at me?” I asked finally, nudging him with my boot.
“Cause.” He venomously echoed, gripping his soda bottle with trembling fingers.
“Come on, don’t alienate me now!” I laughed as I reached forward to tug on his arm. He slowly looked up to reveal the horrendous scars Pandora had left on him, which made me fall quiet. His eye had a crudely branded X pressed into it, and made it so he was barely able to see out of the eye it sat on. “Gods, what did they do to you?” I whispered, touching his cheek. He flinched, shivering, as I ran my hand over the healing brands on his skin. “Odysseus, they don’t bother me, but they obviously bother you. I know a trick or two; want me to get rid of these?”
“Good luck… we’ve tried a thousand ways, but they won’t come off.”
I winked, making him gasp a little as I flashed black eyes and touched the nasty marks on his eye. I did as he had always done for me, match our energies until the fluctuation was stagnant, and then used that connection to try healing the marks. To my relief they slowly dissipated, leaving behind his beautiful face. He blinked wildly in the mirror as I let go of his cheek, smiling. “There we go, good as new! Gods, you are so handsome.” I sighed, taking a swig of my soda.
“I, uh... Thank, you...” he whimpered, touching his face in disbelief.
“Looks like my trip wasn’t a waste after all, eh?”
He smirked, setting his glass down, “I… I don’t mean to be so cross, but I really didn’t want anyone to see me like this...”
“Well unfortunately for you, I don’t give a shit,” I giggled, then slowly, my smile faded, “I need to ask you something.” I started, which made him look back up. “You’re coming tomorrow night, right?”
“I... Please, Nick, I don’t want to talk about this…?” He groaned morosely.
“Odysseus, this is serious. I need you to be there…” I whispered.
He looked into my eyes briefly, then clutched the table uncomfortably, “I know, but I also don’t know what I’m supposed to say, or do, frankly. I mean, I’m the reason she’s dead…?”
I reached across the table and took his hand, which made him blush slightly, “You will never understand how much she misses you, Odysseus. When I said your name, she became so upset that we lost our ability to continue talking. She is your mother, and you have a chance that many will never ever get. I am so happy I can reunite you guys…”
“Yeah? What if something happens to you, Nick? I lose my mother, and you…”
I pressed my lips together, then lightened the mood, “Lose me? As if! I’m a leech for life, Squeakers.” I mocked, giggling as he flushed pink. “I got too many memories to make, so I ain’t letting a little resurrection kick my ass. Like…. Man, I’ll never forget the day we met, when you screamed that hello at me.”
He turned from pink to red, “I couldn’t help it. You were so cute… I just had to say something.” He sighed, playing with my fingertips.
“Now I’m just sexy.” I cackled, tossing my hair dramatically.
“You’re cocky, that’s for sure.”
“I also remember my eighteenth birthday...” He fell quiet as I duct my head, “and it tortures me, knowing what we did, and that I lost you again...”
“You didn’t lose me, Nicodemus. I just...” we smiled to one another; he sighed softly before looking up to me fully. “You really were worried about me?”
“Are you kidding; my Shadows and I searched every single database we could until we found you. We had to dig in some old catacombs to find out where you might be. Blaine covered your tracks too well, as I expected from the biggest pain in the ass on planet Earth, but I didn’t want to ask him and have him not let me come see you. I just, I needed to know you were ok. That she didn’t ruin you. I mean, maybe she did a little, but you still seem a little like yourself. I, I guess I’m in love with you, Odysseus, and I simply just can’t let you go…” I said with a small smirk. A tear rolled down my cheek, which made me hiccup and wipe my eyes. He stared at me blankly, his face absolutely unreadable, before he stood. He rounded the table and grabbed my arm, yanking me up the steps with him, “Hey!” I cried.
“Shh!” He snapped, opening his bedroom door and tossing me onto the bed. I blinked as he slammed it shut and moved over me, twining our lips fast. I jumped a little in shock, but after a moment of his tongue tangling with mine, I lost myself in the act. He ran his hands up my shirt to grip my face before moving to my neck, where he roughly planted kisses and bites to my skin. I bit my own lip, gasping softly at the electrifying feeling I had been longing for him to bless me with again. “Do you have anywhere to be?” He asked abruptly.
“No, why?”
“Mind if we have sex?” He hoarsely whispered.
I turned bright red as he looked up to me, his face flushed with anticipation, “I, uh... No.” I whispered softly. Hunger filled his soulful eyes, and he tore his shirt off before yanking mine up and latching onto me, moving me up onto the pillows as he unbuckled my pants.
(Ok, this totally is going way different than I expected!) Claude yelped in my head.
[Should we say something!?] Alice giggled.
[By the looks of it, we’re not going to stop it anyway.]
{And we should probably go!} May squeaked.
My Shadows giggled and faded away as Odysseus roughly moved his lips to my chest and in between my legs, biting me hard as I gasped into my arm. The sound made him smile, and take advantage of my vulnerability as much as possible. I was lost in absolute bliss at the way he was touching me; it felt amazing to comb my fingers through his hair and hold him down to my body, enough that I wasn’t really paying attention to any of the sounds I made while this happened. My eyes rolled back as he laughed darkly, bringing his lips back to mine as he twined our bodies. I let out a soft gasp of absolute pleasure, which made him pause and flash solemn eyes to me. “Am I hurting you?” He worriedly begged.
If you find this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the infringement.
“No, not at all…” I assured. He chuckled sexily and locked our lips again, twining our fingers together and holding me as close to him as he could. The way he moved his hips drove me insane; I kept breathing his name in his ear, and that made him move faster, and moan louder. His moans were music to my ears, a sound I had dreamt about that I was absorbing to the fullest so I’d never forget. Running my fingers through his hair to grip it and keep his lips on mine was electrifying, and my body reacted in all the right ways to let me fully experience this moment.
I glanced over his shoulder momentarily; my eyes fell on his dresser, which held pictures and cut outs from newspapers about competitions, specifically ones I had won. Along with such was a photo of he and I, which we had snapped the night at prom. Beside that was the cherry blossom, which was incased in a glass box and as beautiful and pure as the day I gave it to him. I slowly buried my tear-stricken face into his neck, clinging to him as tightly as I could and hoping that he would never let go of me again.
╪
The following morning I woke up to the sound of my text tone ringing. It was my mother, asking what time I would be back. I replied and slowly sat up, sighing as I leaned back on my arms and surveyed the damage we had done last night. The room was a wreck, with clothes tossed about carelessly from such a spur of the moment act. I playfully flicked the packaging from our condom into the trash can beside me, chuckling to myself as Odysseus blinked groggily. “What time is it?” He moaned, stretching hard under the covers before bringing his arms out to hug my waist.
“Almost ten… so we should get up.” I answered, smoothing locks of his hair from his eyes.
“Oh, ok…” he yawned as I stood and grabbed my clothes. He did the same before we relocated downstairs, where he pulled some microwave sandwiches out and popped them onto a plate for us to munch on.
“My parents are at the store, thankfully, so I have a few minutes before I have to head back.” I said as we cleaned up our forgotten sodas before we sat on the couch.
He didn’t say anything, just reached over and kissed me softly. I let him pull me into his lap, where he held me close for a moment before peering up at me. “Are you sure I should come tonight?” He whispered, his eyes glistening with worry.
I tilted his chin up so that he was forced to look at me as I spoke, “If I lost my mother, I could never ever continue living without her, and I’m sure you feel the same. Not only does she need you there, but I need you too. If you’re there, it’ll force me to make sure we all walk out of this alive. I’m not asking you, Odysseus, I’m telling you; you better be at Hayden tonight.” He smirked and nodded, lightly brushing his lips on the hand I had on his cheek. I kissed his forehead, hugging him close before sighing, “I need to get home. My Dad was expecting me back by eleven.”
“Does he know where you were?”
“I told him I’m in traffic. Wait until he hears the actual story.” I sexily joked with a wink.
He spit a giggle, pressing his forehead to mine with a sigh, “I don’t suggest you tell him we were hooking up behind his back?”
“He’ll find out eventually; I don’t intend on this being our last time.” I purred. He turned fire red as I winked and hopped off his lap, “I guess I should get going.”
“Oh, yeah, right.” We stood slowly before he turned me around and kissed me again, “Try not to get into any trouble?” He said sadly.
“I think I got into enough for a while,” I mocked.
He put a finger up before darting back inside, which made me tilt my head. When he returned, he was holding a grey hoodie with a white logo on the back and right chest, which I had seen him sport multiple times. He slid it around my shoulders, smiling as I wiggled it on with a blush. “There we go, now you have a proper boyfriend sweater.” He teased, which made me giggle like a mouse. He gave me one final kiss, a tender one that made my limbs melt, then remorsefully watched as I walked down the path to my car. His eyes were dull and lifeless, and I could tell he felt the same way I did, yet he didn’t try to stop me. He waved sadly as I did in return, pulling onto the main road with nothing but regret for leaving him behind in my stomach.
╪
I got home just as the doorbell rang. When I got downstairs, Sebastian and Soren were waiting with big smiles. “Hey, Nicodemus! Wanna hangout?” Sebastian asked as my parents pulled up and got out of their car. I began laughing obnoxiously, which made them blink.
“Hey boys! Did you have fun last night?” Dad asked as I threw an arm over their shoulders.
“Totally! Best sleepover ever! I was just dropping my stuff off before we went back to Sebastian’s place, right, Sebby?” I asked, murder in my eyes as he flashed them a big, fake smile.
“You don’t mind if he stays longer, do you?” He lied like the good little sea urchin he is.
“So long as you’re at the meeting tonight?” Dad warned.
“No problem! Come on, guys!” I merrily cried, skipping the steps as we all fakly laughed and paraded down the road.
“Why am I being used as a cover?” Sebastian sang through his teeth.
“I’ll tell you when we aren’t near my parents!” I sang back, giggling murderously.
╪
“Alright you little rat, spill.” Sebastian snapped as he slammed his bedroom door shut.
“I went out of town for the night, that’s all...” I lied smoothly.
“Ok, and why did you need to cover that up?” He questioned, his hands on his hips.
“I’d prefer my parents didn’t know about it. I want something to be secretive…?”
“So, why do you have hickey’s on your neck?” Soren asked as calmly as a psychopathic murderer confessing his crimes. Sebastian turned five shades of purple and slammed me into the wall, ripping my collar up to shriek in shock.
“Before you start…!” I cried in horror.
“YOU LITTLE WHORE!” He began screaming, choking me violently.
“Wait, wait, wait, Sebastian!” I miserably yelled.
“WHO TOUCHED MY LITTLE ANGEL! WHO’S PECKER AM I FEEDING TO THE WOLVES!” He roared, jerking me around so violently that I was sure I had whiplash.
“Back monster, back!” Soren cried in a vampire’s accent, throwing Sebastian on the bed and helping me up as Sebastian fumed, purely, utterly, ballistically enraged.
“You were gone one day, one fucking day Nicodemus. Who the fuck did you have sex with!?” Sebastian scolded.
“Odysseus!” I snapped, which made their eyes widen in shock.
“Excuse me?” He and Soren snapped simultaneously.
“I dunno! He just, kind of took my upstairs and asked me if I wanted to have sex?”
“Are you kidding me?!”
“Come on, Sebastian...!” I cried, smiling drunkenly as I hopped off the bed and swayed around him, “How often do I get into a little trouble?”
“Depends on the kind we’re talking about!” He angrily growled, smacking me away from him as I wobbled in circles about the room.
“Why is it so bad...?” I delusionally giggled, “I know a few important things…”
Sebastian pinched the bridge of his nose and groaned loudly, “Like what?”
I slumped into his side with a drunk smile, and wagged my eyebrows to make him giggle, “I know he’s hot, and I know I am definitely gay...” I slyly giggled.
“Oh for the love of the Gods!” He let out a loud sigh before turning to me with a big smile, a dangerous one that I had seen many time. “Was it good?”
“Hehe, very.” I sheepishly peeped.
“I want all the details…!”
“Sebastian Montgomery!” Soren laughed, “Would you mind your business?!”
“Come on, a girls gotta get creative sometimes!”
“You’re too much.” I snorted, rolling my eyes to Soren.
“I’m your best friend!” Sebastian pouted, stomping his little foot in anger,
“And this is the first thing I’ll be hiding from you.” I said matter-of-factly.
“You’re no fun!” He whined as I shoved him away.
“I don’t ask you for the details of your sex life, so don’t ask mine,” I joked.
“I’ll gladly tell you whatever you’d like to know.” Sebastian said nonchalantly.
“Oh Gods, no, please!” I laughed as he threw himself into my arms.
He leaned in and began talking so fast that I barely had time to stop him, “Soren does this really sexy thing where he grabs my hips and...”
“SEBASTIAN!” Soren roared, throwing a hand over his mouth with a blush as Sebastian cackled maniacally.
“STOP IT! YOUR GOING TO SCAR ME FOR LIFE!” I screamed dramatically.
“Ok, ok, you win, but I will get my information. I just can’t believe you banged him!”
“I don’t know if …with what’s going to happen tonight, you know?” My voice broke, which made them sadly put their arms around me, “I just, I wanted to be with him at least one more time, Gods forbid something bad happens…”
“I understand, I do, Nicodemus. If it were that way with Soren, I would have done the same thing... One more time?” Sebastian abruptly snapped, shocked by what I let slip out.
I wrung my hands out under my coat, “We, kind of, had sex on my eighteenth birthday...”
“I KNEW IT!” Sebastian screamed to his boyfriend, who laughed hysterically at my blush.
“Who are we do judge?” Soren said through his teeth, which made me raise an eyebrow.
“And how old were you two when you started going at it?” I demanded, hands on my hips.
“Er…well....” Soren giggled, “Fifteen, ish?”
My jaw hit the floor, “AND I’M THE WHORE!?”
“We didn’t have sex until we were sixteen!” He roared to try and cover himself.
“What were you doing before that?!”
“Something I can guess you did last night,” Sebastian said, giggling as I blazed bright red.
“Sebastian, do you think we’ll ever get to be a real couple?” I asked sadly.
“That’s destiny’s decision, sweet pea, not mine,” he replied, smirking, before standing and throwing open his bedroom door, “As for right now, destiny says it’s time for us to get ready for you to bring back your mother-in-law!” He cried triumphantly.
