13. Air support is stupid

When Nathaniel dumped five rounds down range, the whole team was shocked by the loud and powerful shots. Jenifery and Tiki saw him shoot once, but the second time was as shocking to them as the first time.

The five professional warriors weren’t frozen by the unexpected power level, they were excited. The impressive part about it wasn’t the individual power, but the combination of level one ability, mixed with the concentration of the power in one punch, and now the quick succession of the shots without diminishing the power.

The rifle was semi-automatic, to Nathaniel’s disappointment. But as quick as he could squeeze the trigger, the rifle reacted.

“Your world has better magic then ours, its impressive.” Bloom said.

“My world has no magic.” Nathaniel told her. He realized that he’s going to explain it a lot in the near future, and he was already getting tired of it.

“I don’t understand.” Bloom was puzzled. “I thought that this weapon is from your world.”

Nathaniel took a long breath. “Yes, it’s from my world. However, its not magic. In my world we have something called technology. It a way to do incredible things without magic.”

“So, you call magic, technology.”

“no.” Nathaniel was frustrated. “Technology is something you make. Magic is something you use.”

“But if you…” Velony started to say but was cut by Jenifery.

“Let’s leave this argument for later.” He said.

“Right.” Bloom agreed with him. “Nathaniel, are you going to explain what is ‘navy seal style’?”

“Navy seals are elite special forces.” Nathaniel explained. “At list according to the stories.”

“Pirate forces.” Jenifery was afraid to hear the answer.

“no.” Nathaniel laughed. “don’t worry, today in my world we hate pirates. We only like the stories from the past.”

Bloom threw questioning look to Jenifery, and he sighed. “don’t ask.”

Siri giggled. “I think that Jenifery is starting to read beyond you.”

Good for him.

Bloom turned back to Nathaniel. “What abilities do you expect to get in this non pirate elite forces style?”

this team is a mess.

“It is going to be fun.”

For you.

“That is all that matters.”

Nathaniel sighed. “I guess grenades, body armor, military grade helmet, camouflage clothes, a shotgun, breaching equipment, explosives, sniper rifle, night vision goggles, and if I’m going by call of duty standards anyway, claymore and RPG sounds good. Or maybe a stinger or javelin. And I would really like to get helicopters and air support, and of cores, military vehicles.”

Everyone looked at him with wired looks. They looked at each other, and then David told him. “I didn’t understand half of what you said, and the other half sounds stupid.”

Everyone nodded. “Yes. night vision goggles?” tiki said. “Why not dark vision?”

“And what are you going to do with explosives and sniper weapon, its better to choose one of those.” Bloom observed.

“And air support is very stupid.” David added. “Are you expecting to blow someone with wind?”

“what’s wrong with that”? Jenifery asked.

“it’s stupid because you can blow them up instead.” David explained, and tiki nodded.

“And most important.” Bloom added. “You choose to many things. You can only have ten abilities until you get to level fifty.”

Nathaniel didn’t know what to say, they had some good arguments. They also had very stupid arguments, and they clearly didn’t understand what air support mean. He started to realize that with magic, stuff like night vision goggles is impractical.

“I do not understand. I thought that you get what you need, not what you want. Why are they asking you to choose?”

This is a good point.

“Ask them.”

Right.

“Ehh… Bloom?”

Bloom raised one eyebrow. “yes”?

“Why are you asking me what I want, wouldn’t I get what I need at the moment?”

“Usually yes, but we can manipulate the odds to give you what you want instead of what you need.”

“You make it sound wrong.” Velony laughed. “You should say. We can get you what you need in the long run, instead of what you need right now.”

“Shut up Velony.” Tiki told her. “no one cares.”

Bloom sighed. “I’m dealing with children.”

“Hey!” Velony objected. “What did I do?”

“Speak…” Tiki mumbled.

Jenifery David and Nathaniel were suddenly focused heavily on keeping their faces strait. They carefully bottled the bobbling laughter inside and kept their eyes on the flour.

“Children.” Bloom spat the word.

David snorted a little. This was enough, the three of them burst out laughing.

Bloom looked at them with disgust. “I have no idea how we manage to do anything around here.” She sighed. “Jenifery. take it from here, I’m going to Tolverstov.”

She left the training facility.

Slowly Tiki and Velony joined the laughter until it subsided.

“Right.” Jenifery said still laughing. “That was good.”

“Yeah.” David said calming down. “I almost blew up. You need to be careful with it.”

“I would be fine.” Velony told him. “Feel free to blow up.”

“no. don’t feel free to blow up.” Jenifery objected. “Your blast tastes like shit; I don’t want to ever taste it again.”

“Why are we talking about blowing as up?” Nathaniel asked.

“I have no idea.” Jenifery told him. “But if you’re hanging around with David and Tiki, the subject comes up often.”

“I don’t like being blown up.” Tiki said. “But I get the thrill in blowing up your friends.”

“Yeah.” David told Nathaniel. “I used to blow them up a lot, but then Nathaniel got his cannon kick and started kicking my ass to the sky every time I did it.”

“I love it when he does it.” Velony told him. “Most of the times you die twice.”

“Why is that?” Nathaniel asked her.

“Because when he kicks him.” She explained with bright eyes. “It takes him couple of seconds to die, and then he’s already high in the sky.” She remembered delightfully. “And then he resurrects high in the sky and fall to splash on the ground.” She laughed and Tiki joined her.

David wrinkled his nose. “I didn’t like it.” He complained.

“Then don’t blow as up.” Tiki suggested.

“I don’t mind.” Velony told him. “Feel free to blow up.”

“Why is that”? Nathaniel asked her.

“Velony is a time specialist.” Jenifery explained. “She simply run out of the blast range.”

“But she’s still not fast enough to run from my explosions.” Tiki said proudly.

Velony shuddered. “Your explosions are the worst.” She said. “I feel them blasting my ear drum and then my brain.” She shuddered again.

“I don’t know how I feel about being blown up.” Nathaniel told Jenifery.

“don’t worry.” Jenifery reassured him. “It was in the beginning, when we were getting used to our powers. we don’t do stuff like that today.”

“So.” Nathaniel cleared his throat. “What about the explanation about getting me the powers I want?”

“Right.” Jenifery said. “It’s very simple. If the level powder you use, is infuse with a specific concept, you can only get ability in the area of the said concept.”

“And you powder infuse with US navy concept?”

“You need to talk to Tolverstov and cleopatra about that. They’ll help you with the specific concept you want. We’ll help you build a plan.”

“Okey. So let’s get serious.”
