Chapter 5: Amisus the Fallen
We walked to the caves entrance, cautious of what may be lurking here, I told Hailey to stay behind me. I wondered why the cave was named Cave of Sorrows. Is their someone mourning here? Or anything that has to do with sorrow?
We threaded slowly but surely. The cave itself made eerie sounds, but what do you expect from a cave. Every time a creak or an eerie sound was heard, Hailey would let out a shriek as well. Though its a game, the realism was not to be trifled with. A ghost or an undead would likely show itself in times like this in the movies.
The cave really glowed with something luminescent hanging on the ceiling. If I am not mistaken, those would be glow worms.
It looked like the night sky filled with stars. Each light seemed to move as wind blows out the cave. That would be a good sign, air flow means that a shaft or an exit where the wind can flow in confirms that the cave has another way out.
I can see that Hailey was amazed at the sight in front of us. Who wouldn't be? There was like a sky just above us, the light show was really something to be amazed in.
*Clank*
A sudden sound of metal hitting the ground made us stop. We looked to the front, trying to see what made the sound. The dim lighting didnt help at all.
"Oh Light of the World, reveal to us your shimmering light.
One small orb of light floated a top of us. Hailey used her skill, a skill which seemed to act like a torch, the surrounding area became more clearer. Waiting for what made the sound, we stood there ready for anything that may come.
The sound continued to come closer. As if taking its sweet time to walk. Then as expected, a skeleton wearing a battered short sword made its way to us.
'I should have not spoken earlier.'
Skeleton Warrior
Level: 15
Hp: 100%
Hailey's skills are quite versatile. She seemed to have skills for all sorts of situations. As expected from a support class. She used her
I leaped with a kick aimed at the enemy. I never expected that hitting it would hurt me as well. The skeleton's bones were harder than other monsters. It was like hitting something metallic.
"Hail, I think my strikes and kicks wont deal too much damage. I seem to lack proper skills or equipment. I'm counting on your heals. They are undead so your heal should damage them."
"Ye..yes, please count on me, but Kila, my mana would be depleted fast if I continue to use heal as an attack." She answered.
"Its okay, just spam your heal until your mana is at 50%. We dont want to be in a predicament if your mana becomes zero. Use your heals well as I attack and draw its aggro. Remember Hail, conserve your mana." She nodded as she moved behind me again.
We didnt have to kill it with heal, we just need to lower its hp for us to kill it with normal attacks.
The skeleton's attack damage was strong. It hit really hard, yes it moved slow but when you're in its range of attack, its movement seems to be faster.
I smiled as I looked at the enemy. I did a parallel stance, it was a stance which is used for preparing yourself to attack with strikes or kicks at any moment. I waited for the enemy to come to my range.
I did a reverse side kick, hitting its hand that held the weapon. I followed with a chin strike making it move backwards. With Hailey's heal, the enemy was down to 80% of its health.
'Do they have a lot of health points?'
We continued to attack the skeleton, a level 15 enemy really is hard to fight if your still level 9. The battle was long but we prevailed. I noticed my experience bar gaining 3% after we killed the skeleton.
'Double experience will make me level fast.'
I noticed something on the ground. It was a ring.
[Ring of Mana(Uncommon)]
A ring once used by the fallen warrior.
Grants 0.5% mana regeneration.
Required Level: 10
I smiled at Hailey, "Hail its for you."
"Uhmnn~ thank you Kila." She looked at the ring on her finger, a smile slowly crept to her face.
Thus we decided to sleep first before returning to explore.

Hearing a sound that woke me from my slumber, I noticed my phone was ringing beside my bed. Picking it up to see who kept calling, I answered seeing it was my little cousin.
"Nii!!!! Why the sudden gift?" Bell shouted on the other end.
"Dont shout Bell, its a thank you gift."
"Thank you? For what Nii?"
"For mentioning the game."
"Ohhh, why didnt you say you already played Nii!!! We could have made you start at where we are."
"I forgot."
"Its okay, so where are you in the game?"
"I'm at the kingdom of Natua."
"I see. The place is far from where we are at. The place is at the south, the most isolated kingdom in the East continent. But no worries, once the portal gate is opened we will come to meet you."
"Okay, im in the village of Ani-no. Though im currently doing a quest."
"Ani-no? Wait, I think I saw or heard of that place."
"Well its hidden, but I dont think it will stay hidden for long."
"Okay. Nii, after the portal gates are opened, you should head to the main city there okay?"
"Sure Bell."
"Oh~ oh. Cindy says her thanks. Also Nate said your unfair. No gifts for him."
I let out a laugh after hearing that, "Tell him nextime I'll buy him what he wants."
Looking at the time, "Bell I have to go now. I am going back in game."
"Okay Nii. By the way Nii, whats your in game name?"
"Dakila. Later tinker~Bell."
I ended the call as I got up and headed for a shower.
●●●
"Sorry I am late." I let out seeing Hailey on the side.
"Its okay, so what kept you?" She asked, with curiosity written on her face.
"My cousin. Lets continue."
We headed deeper into the cave. Facing skeletons along the way. Every skeleton we fought seemed to have a difference to the previous ones. They looked different from each other, the items they held for example. It was like they were equipped with items from each class. A dual wielding skeleton, a staff wielding skeleton, a dagger wielding skeleton are some examples. Also it seems like they doesnt respawn once you kill them.
'This cave is really mysterious.' I said to myself as I killed a skeleton that wielded a bow. I heard a sound which made me grin. I looked at my level and I was finally level 10. I can finally change to a class. Looking at the system notification, it notified me of what classes I can change into.
Possible Class Advancements

'As expected, there are many jobs, only three have information, the others are unknown so I need to search for them.' The ones with question marks were more than 10. I have read on the website, that the classes you can pick from depends on the skills you have as a beginner. Also, the notification only mentions classes that are highly compatible with the way you play. Question marks are classes which maybe hidden, or learned from a master. The class system really is unique by its own.
Also a post in the forum said that the classes will show up if a player registers a class. Though its a speculation, the game has its secrets. And no player would want somebody to have the same class as him, right?
Looking at the class list, I sighed as I closed it. 'Cant do anything about it now.'
Resting to regenerate our lost mana, hp and stamina. Hailey brought out her cooking kit, though I say a kit, it consists of few things. A pan, a kitchen knife, and some utensils. Thanks to meat dropped by rabbits, deers and boars, we enjoyed her own version of barbecue. Seasonings from our world differ from the ones in game. So, searching for a specific seasoning is hard due to this reason. Where is the salt and soy sauce when you need them.
Thingking about it now, we have been in a party for a couple of days.
It was a funny thing, at first, I only spoke to Hailey when we fought monsters. But due to her persistence, I couldn't help but respond to her actions. Hailey told me a lot about herself, though I occasionally answer her with a phrase consisting of a couple of words. Bit by bit, she had me responding to her whimsical questions.
I started to enjoy her company, I learned that she is a business woman in real life. Age 26, from a well known family. Yet, she didnt tell me her real name. I didnt care seeing as I also didnt tell her mine. We talked about different things, one was how her family kept on arranging dates for her. They wanted her to marry and settle down.
Then came the question, 'How about you Kila? Are you married?' She really meant no harm, I shook my head from left to right. No sound coming from my mouth.
She really talked a lot, which is not a bad thing.
After a good meal, we continued to wander into the cave. The cave was not like any other dungeon, it was not overflowing with mobs. This dungeon was really mysterious.
As we ventured deeper, we saw a light floating around, it was like a ball of fire. The color was bluish, it would vanish then reappear in another area. It seemed dancing in our eyes. The chamber was not to big or small, it was the right size. The bluish fire orb
kept on vanishing and appearing all over the place.
"Will o' wisp?" Hailey muttered, her expression slightly fascinated.
We walked around it. Not wanting to disturb its dance. It may seem kinda amazing to see a bluish ball of fire floating around, but it was still a monster in game.
Looking at a dead end ahead of us, we decided to head back after a meticulous search for any hidden apparatus in the walls that may trigger a secret door or some kind. Only a treasure box filled with 30 gold was at the end of the tunnel. Alas, we felt down thinking that it was the end of cave.
We threaded back to where the will o' wisp was, Hailey wanted to rest for a bit. She enjoyed seeing the bluish mob floating in the air. I sat near her, my eyes following the wisp as it flew. Then a sudden realization came to us.
The wisp had a specific interval before it vanished and reappeared. After the 5th time it vanished, it would reappear to a more futher distance. At first, we thought that the wisp just flew randomly but as we sat there, we saw that it would vanish and reappear in any location with a radius of 2 meters. But, the 5th interval was slightly delayed, due to the wisp appearing in a specific location which is out of its 2m radius.
Looking at Hailey, she also seemed to notice the place where the wisp vanished. She nodded and we stood up heading to a dark part of the cave. It wasnt lighted, and aside from that, it was a spot where you think that there was nothing in that direction. A well hidden passage.
Heading to the area, I seemed to notice a passage way leading to another chamber.
Hail and I was ecstatic at our find. We walked in through the narrow passage. The passage became wider and wider as we ventured onwards.
It seemed that the cave has another level. The sight of the surroundings was surreal.
Stalactites and stalagmites which were formed to beautiful formations were all over the place. It was like a big chamber, with curtains dropping from a high height.
The chamber itself felt like a dance hall used in castles. We threaded towards the center area, eyes roaming around at the sight which made us held our breath.
If you spot this story on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.
At the center, I saw Hailey starting to sway. Her posture was in a dancing position. She started moving around, eyes closed. Her imaginary partner leading her as she continued to move step after step.
The elegance in her move was clearly seen, she was a good dancer.
Not taking my eyes of her, she twirled around only stopping to open her eyes. She looked at me, a clear tint of red colored her cheeks. She smiled and continued to dance to a tune that was nonexistent.
She was like a ballerina, her movement was graceful and mesmerizing. My eyes staring at her slender body, then to her face, 'Beautiful.'
I stayed there, not even moving an inch as she did a graceful bow. Her step seemed so light, as if a fairy was coming towards me. Her adorable ears and her tail only doubled the anticipation I experienced as she took one step at a time towards me.
"Sorry, I was just lost in all the beauty infront of us." Hail sweetly responded as I stood there not moving.
"I...It was a beautiful dance," her smile became wider, "Are you a ballerina in real life also?"
"No Kila. It is one of my hobbies."
"I see. Should we continue?"
"Yeah."
Walking forward, I noticed something in front of us. There was a tombstone, a grave marker of some sort. It seemed to have been there for a long time. I went closer to see what it is exactly. Hailey followed me as well.
We stood in front of the grave, then out of no where an undead clad in tattered clothing risen from the ground.
Amisus the Fallen (Boss)
Level: 20
Hp:100%
Mp:100%
"Ki...kil...Kila." Hailey stammered at the sight.
The undead was draped in dark clothing, a hood covering its skull head, no weapons on his hands. But, there was something scary about it. We noticed chain cuffs on its hands and feet. It started to move slowly, the broken chains made sounds as it moved.
"Hail, get ready." I said calmly, but deep inside me I started to feel excited seeing a strong enemy.
"Be careful." She answered.
I concentrated, zoning out any kind of thoughts that may hinder my movements. Amisus came towards me slowly, but it suddenly attacked as I came to its range. I blocked the in coming kick, a skeleton fist came towards my face. Thanks to my reflexes, I evaded with a slight move backwards.
The enemy was also a user of martial arts. Amisus didn't relent his attack, he continued but I retaliated with counters as it made openings due to his continues attack.
"Heal!"
My hp went back to 90%. Having a healer was really a godsend. I fought recklessly, exchanging blow after blow. A smile in my face, "Lets do this."
I unleashed strikes and kicks one after another.
'Faster.'
'Faster.'
My movements needed more speed, "Faster."
Hailey healed me once my hp dropped to 30%. If not for her, I would have died early..
Axe kick, palm heel, Roundhouse, eagle strike, hook kick, back fist, crescent kick, hammer fist, spin kick, elbow strike, front snap kick, tiger claw, tornado kick.
Strikes and kicks alternated, as I fought Amisus. This fight made my bloodboil from excitement. What a strong enemy.
"Kila! Just a little bit!" Hailey shouted from behind me.
I noticed that Amisus hp was below 5%, mine was only 9%, I continued my attacks. Then after a long struggle, a tornado kick of death ended Amisus. I heard a a faint voice coming from Hailey, she must have casted heal on me when I exchanged blows with the boss.
"Huh...hhuuh...huh."
I sprawled myself on the ground. My breath ragged from the battle. I never felt this exhausted in a long time. I opened my eyes and saw my life point had only 2 left, the blinking red was really eye catching. Who would not notice it, right?
Hailey ran towards my direction, her eyes slightly red, tears threatening to fall down.
"You idiot! Heal!!" Her voice echoed due to her shout.
My hp went to 10%, still in a critical level but hey, atleast not one shot away from death. Amisus' damage was really strong. I couldn't believe it that I defeated a boss, looking at Hail, "Thanks Hail, you saved me there."
"I thought you were going to die, my mana was barely enough to cast heal for 1 time. I barely made it in time to cast heal on you when you fought recklessly with the boss. If I didnt cast heal when its last attack landed on you, you would have died." Her face was tinged with worry.
I laughed knowing that I could have died.
"Mou~ it is not funny." She tried to make an angry expression but not for long, she laughed with me.
Our laughter echoed all through out the chamber. After a minute, I sat up and noticed that I leveled up for 2 times, making me level 12. Hail was already level 14.
Ding!
You have cleared the Cave of Sorrows.
A sudden image floated infront of us, a narrator spoke as the scene changed. Its as if we are looking at a movie. The only difference was it was as if we were standing there right in it. Hailey was surprised as well.
In the distant past, The hero Amisus fought against the beast men tribes. Thinking he was doing the right thing, he followed the kings orders and defeated any enemy who stood infront of him. The king, jealous of Amisus' fame and accomplishments plotted to kill him.
After the long war, he traveled back with his trusted companions to the human capital city. Summoned by the king, Amisus and his band of brothers went to the answer the call. Expecting to be awarded, they let there guard down.
Brutally ambushed by the kings men, Amisus and his party managed to hold on for a while, but it was a lost battle. They were killed in front of the king's thrown.
Amisus felt betrayed by the king, the king he sweared to defend, the people which he saved. All condemned them to death. The king told Amisus all about the deception they said to him. Amisus hearing the truth from the king himself, could only regret that the beastmen he killed only died due to the greed of a king.
Hatred and agony filled his heart. He swore to have his revenge. The darkness heard his call and gave him one last chance. Amisus became a slave to the darkness.
He slaughtered them all. All those greedy people who were a part of the plan died that day. Amisus having fulfilled his revenge for his fallen comrades wanted to be with them, but the darkness didnt want him to die yet. The darkness made his comrades undead, it tried to take control of his body. Cursed to be a slave to the darkness, Amisus knew one way to prevent himself and his comrades from killing innocent people. Mustering all his strength and magic to cast one skill, he sealed himself and his friends. Never to walk on the light day, hidden beneath the shadows. Sorrow fell into his heart, he cried for himself and his friends. He knew that what he did was wrong, all he could do now was grieve for himself, his lost friends and for all the innocent lives he ended.
Waiting, waiting that someday, maybe someone will lift the curse.
The scene infront of us ended. Looking at Hailey who had tears falling from her eyes, I smiled at her. Suddenly the will o' wisp appeared infront of us.
"Thank you brave couple for releasing us." The wisp slowly turned to a figure.
"I am Amisus, I give my thanks to you once again." The wisp now had a human body.
"I am sorry." Hailey let out. Tears streaming down her cheeks.
Amisus smiled, "Thank you for crying for us. I am indebted to you two. Now the bodies of my fallen comrades can lay to rest. I can finally join them in the afterlife."
He looked at us.
"May I know the names of our saviors?"
I nodded, "I am Dakila."
"Hailey." Hail uttered, her voice still had sadness in them.
"To the both of you, I give this items." He waved his right hand slowly and items appeared infront of us.
"Once again, thank you for releasing us. Dakila of the Fox Clan, Hailey of the Dog Tribe, may your union be fruitfull and leave you with many offspring."
Amisus had it all wrong, "I am sorry Amisus but were not married. Right Hail?" I turned towards her, Hailey was covering her face with her hands. She couldn't hide her red face. She kept letting out cute sounds.
Amisus let out a deep laugh, "I ask for forgiveness then, I thought you both were a couple."
Nodding to him in agreement, "I hope you may find the peace you are looking for."
Amisus smiled as he floated nearer, "Thank you for your kind words Dakila. Oh before I leave, I will give you something that is important to your tribe. I was entrusted with this by a fox maiden. She was wounded causing her to head to a hidden place, a place where your kinsmen considered sacred. I was a fool back then, I hope you can forgive me for hunting your kind."
I listened to what he had to say. Hailey nodded to his words.
"I watched your battles in the cave. You are adept in using your fists and kicks in attacking. Before I go," Amisus smiled at me and came closer to whisper something into my ear, "You should marry her, you two look good together."
I was startled at what he said. I glanced at Hailey, she still looked shyly at me. Her gaze on the ground.
'If they only knew.' I said to myself.
Amisus started to disappear, "Hailey, Dakila, may you be blessed with many offsprings." He winked at us and vanished into thin air.
Ding!
Amisus the Hero imparted one final gift to you. The item thought lost to the Fox Clan forever, now reappeared again after a long time.
A small statue of a nine tailed fox.
I looked at the statue in my hands. It was a fox that had nine tails. The statue seemed to be alive. It gave of a warm feeling. Looking at the item on my palm I smiled unknowingly.
"Wow, what a beautiful statue." Hailey said as she stood beside me.
"Yeah, I wonder what its for? We should see what Amisus left us."
Leading to the items piled on the ground. Hailey and I started to check what they were. A lot of uncommon items were there, a few rare ones and an item that made me smile.
