Cursed to the Core
Incoming Invaders

Incoming Invaders

The next day saw more of the invaders from the local tribe. The first few groups made it a moderate way in, but not as far as the first group. They also seemed to be intentionally using worse gear. Whether this was because they did not want to lose the gear to the dungeon, or just were normally not as well equiped was unknown.

Then Ham and the invaders recieved an odd message:

Ra Intervenes Combined Blessing and Curse of Amun The dungeon shall be destroyed by the Medjay Warriors of Ra and no others. All bird type dungeon creatures deal double damage to non-Medjay Warriors, and half damage to Medjay Warriors.

These invaders also did not receive the Blessing of Anubis, and so they rapidly turned around and left.

Ham pondered on this for a short while before coming to the decision that Ra had probably already sent a group of Medjay Warriors his way. So now it was just a matter of time before they arrived.

Returning to the second floor, Ham continued to develop the rooms. Thinking it over, he realised he had not made any "official" traps, even if much of the room would function that way due to the nature of the ice and how it was arranged.

As such he updated a decent number of the stalagmites to have rock cores, making them stronger and officially spike traps. He also added in some trip wires that triggered some traps. In particular, blocks of stone that would cover the room exits. He set these up with very tall doorways, so that the dropping block would "open" a pathway up high, so the people next entering the room could follow a roof path jumping from block to block between the new raised entrance and new raised exit. On the other hand, people already in the room had to break through the thick stone. Whilst freezing and fighting against the wind if they wanted to go on.

Ham was also relieved to see that this opened up his third floor.

Sharouf looked at his team. The kill party was designed to fight its way through dungeons and destroy they enemy core for the glory of the Egyption empire. At the moment the front had been kept away from accessing any enemy dungeons, and so the normal army soldiers were better suited to fighting in the real world.

They had a Cleric of Anubis, able to raise any who died, himself a Blessed of Ra, able to empower others with divine light, an Acolyte of Seth, who lead and gave guidance in how to approach rooms, an Acolyte of Thoth who helped identify and solve puzzles and traps, an Acolyte of Apis, who was blessed with incredible strength, and finally a Consort of Satet, who was blessed with incredible skill with the bow.

As the team packed up he pondered on his orders. His divine god had ordered and they would follow as sworn, but it was surprising to be sent after a new dungeon. Typically his team targeted dungeons with 20 or so floors, and would act to blitz through to the core. Alternatively, they would target dungeons up to 50 floors by slowly bleeding them out, rushing in and out of the first 15 floors or so, and trying to re-enter the first floor just as the creatures respawned. They woud do this in shifts with other teams in 4 hour blocks, with 3 teams to a dungeon. This way the core was constantly being drained of mana. Finally, a fourth even higher level team would continue through, or if it was a very big dungeon, multiple higher level teams would enter. This meant that the top team might be fresh to the fight and ready to go starting from the 30th floor, whilst the dungeon was constantly trying to repair its earlier floors behind them. This meant they were much less likely to get overwhelmed.

But this time it was a new dungeon, less than a month old. Perhaps it was simply that a dungeon of Odin or Shiva had been spawned behind the lines that was meant to be secret but had instead been discovered by chance?

Still, as Ra ordered, it would be destroyed.
