Chapter 84 (Book 2 - Zombie World)

"I'm telling you! The monsters in this place are stronger!" Ivy yelled. As her whip cracked and gouged out a chunk of a nearby monster. Yanking back the whip, it flew back towards where Ivy was standing and slid behind her.

Though the orc looking monster didn't react to the attack from Ivy, it grunted and quickly turned around looking for something.

There was a shimmer and Ruby was seen hanging from her two daggers, each one stabbed into the back of the monster. Using the knives, she was slowly climbing the back of the giant orc. It only took her several moments, before she reached the neck of the monster and with one dagger to keep her steady, Ruby used the other knife to stabbed the base of the skull directly into the brain.

As if its strings were cut, the creature dropped to the ground. Just like the others, it soon faded away and left behind assorted gear.

Ruby breathing more substantial than usual, looked at Ivy saying, "I think it's because we're fighting against monsters we're not used to seeing."

"We need some help over here!" Jackie yelled out, as she used one of the swords to block a fist while using the other blade to slash at the stomach.

Annoyed, the orc kicked Jackie away and revealed how shallow the attack was. There was only a slight amount of blood leaking out, signifying that insufficient force was used on Jackie's part.

Grunting from the kick, Jackie slid back and using both blades to maintain her balance. Sparks sprayed as the blade's edge dug into the stone floor. Regaining her stance, she turned and spat out a mouthful of blood. "I think that thing cracked a few ribs!" She snarled.

"You okay?!" Lacy called out to Jackie, likely worried about seeing blood being spat out.

Impact of metal on flesh was heard near them, revealing Jae-Hwa pounding one of her dragon head gauntlets into the stomach of an Orc. "Guys! I'm starting to think that Ivy is on to something. She yelped as the monster grabbed her by the torso and threw her.

Han dashed and jumped into the air, grabbing Jae-Hwa before proceeding to be knocked into a nearby wall. "It's not good to be distracted during a fight, you know." Han rebuked Jae-Hwa, who was groaning from the impact.

"Han!" Jennifer yelled in panic. Stabbing the butt of her spear into the ground, making flames rush out from between the stone bricks. The blast turned dozens of stone pieces into shrapnel, breaking the stone into smaller bits and speeding towards the surrounding enemy.

Tearing into the Orcs, the shrapnel was successful at decreasing the numbers that were previously attacking Jennifer. A couple was groaning in pain, sounding pitiful if not for their scrunched up faces with bony spikes protruding out of their faces which made them look terrifying.

Running towards where Han was still holding Jae-Hwa's body, Jennifer looked to be checking to see if anything was wrong. Her body relaxed slightly, likely from hearing from her AI that Han was physically alright.

"I'm okay, sis. I just got the wind knocked out of me." Han tried to comfort Jennifer.

Jae-Hwa managed to regain her senses and awkwardly got up, still looking a little dazed.

Jennifer reached out to Jae-Hwa, helping her not to fall over with a helping hand.

"Thanks. I think I'm good now." Jae-Hwa's voice sounded strong after getting a couple of seconds to recover.

"Back to work, I guess?" Han chuckled as he stood up, making one of his hands into a fist and hitting it into the palm of his other hand.

Jennifer patted his suit, getting a lot of the dust off of it. "What do you think?" she asked him, turning to look at the others fighting the wave of monsters.

"Let's clean up this wave before a new one comes. We can talk about it after." Han said, motioning for Jennifer to get back into the fighting formation.

Nodding her head in understanding, Jennifer rushed back into the fray. Opening a path into the nearby monsters, she spun her spear and thrust it into the direction she was racing towards.

Han heard the roar of fire and felt like some of the heat reached where he was standing. Glancing at the others, he saw that each one of them was performing significantly better than the previous time.

"I think it was a good idea to have them set up this way," Han thought to himself. Each of them was somewhat isolated to make them deal with an overwhelming force, with monsters that were a couple of levels above them.

Turning his head to look over at Ji-Min, he was surprised at what he saw.

-------

Spinning the kunai in her left hand, she struck the animal-like monster in its stomach. Striking the muscles felt like she was hitting a steel surface.

Hastily moving her head, Ji-Min was able to dodge the snout of the beast as it tried to take a bite out of her face. With her right hand, she stabbed towards the eye facing her. In preparation, Ji-Min spun the kunai in her left.

Spotting her attack, the monster used one of its arms to swipe at her and pushed her away.

Gritting her teeth, Ji-Min knew her attack wasn't likely going to succeed and swiped with her left hand, slashing at the throat of the creature. Being propelled away from the monster, her slash was given a boost in power, and soon she saw the satisfying fountain of blood.

It tried to use its hands to apply pressure to the wound, trying to keep the fountain of blood from continuing, but soon it began to lose its strength. A loud thud was heard as the body struck the ground.

When Ji-Min saw it fall to the ground, she was able to stabilize herself in time to speed towards the body. In her ears, she could feel blood pumping. There was a satisfying crunch as the point of one of her kunai pierced into the brain of the monster.

Pulling out the weapon, there were bits of brain matter stuck to the edges. A feeling of satisfaction came over her, though it was short lived with the monster disappearing along with what was on her weapon.

"I have to be faster," Ji-Min cursed to herself. Feeling unfulfilled with the damage she inflicted. "Why do those things have to disappear!" She internally raged at the simulation.

Jumping back, a fist from a nearby monster struck the ground where she was standing mere moments ago.

Seeing that it was similar to the monster she had just killed, Ji-Min grinned eagerly. "Maybe you'll be more of a challenge," She taunted it, happy to see it get riled up from her provocations.

Rushing closer to it, she weaved between the attacks. Her breathing was heavy as her reflexes and mental processes were being pushed past their limits. When it tried to grab her, she slid between its legs and grabbing its tail to help her get back up quickly. Noticing the minute change in body posture, Ji-Min predicted that it was going to turn around from the left.

As it turned around in the manner she thought it would, she held both kunai out with the points facing down. Then she stabbed into the side of the thing which the turning made by the creature only aided Ji-Min in her efforts.

Once they caused enough damage, she pushed off the monster's thigh to give enough clearance before it attacked.

The attack caused it to have a significant amount of its stomach cut up. Though it was wounded, the rage had prevented the monster from recognizing its own position. Pits of its insides were hanging out, but the monster rushed over to where Ji-Min was standing.

Jumping away as another monster tried to attack her, Ji-Min grinned from seeing the organs from the creature she attacked beginning to spill out. "Come at me!" She yelled out at the monster.

Blinded by pain and rage, it scrambled towards her with its claws digging into the ground. The monster howled, shoving aside its comrades. Its eyes followed the movements of Ji-Min as she evaded others of its kind.

Every time it got close enough, Ji-Min would slip behind another monster. She laughed as it tried to follow her, growling in anger at being hindered in its movements while not noticing the blood trail it was creating. When the monster reached her, this time, Ji-Min dashed towards it and stabbed both of her kunai into the exposed wound.

"Before you disappear, I want to hear you howling some more!" She laughed when it cried out in pain.

Though she didn't want to drive more of the creatures into a maddened frenzy, she made sure to attack the others surrounding her. One of the creatures that was shoved aside from her target's rampage fell down, Ji-Min launched herself at the creatures head. Using her weapons, she stabbed them into the eyes of the monster.

Shivers of joy ran throughout her body as she heard its yelping and whining. She looked at the others that she was successful at blinding and laughed at how they quickly stumbled about.

"I'll make you all pay!" Ji-Min laughed gleefully as she jumped back from her latest victim before her raging opponent got too close.
