Chapter 5: The Four Divine Beasts

Chapter 5: The Four Divine Beasts

"Big Brother, that Spihn is still resisting us!" The Black Tortoise said as he continued to ram his body towards the mammoth-like divine beast.

The Azure Dragon, Redding, said, "Brothers and Sister, prepare to use our ultimate move!"

Upon hearing this, the mammoth-like divine beast turned tail. Unfortunately, he was an earth-type divine beast, so speed wasn't his forte.

The Azure Dragon, Vermillion Bird, White Tiger, and Black Tortoise all activated their divine abilities. Contrary to examples like Linley or their other descendants, phantoms of their true forms didn't manifest because they were already in their true forms.

The instant they used their divine abilities, the surrounding thousand kilometers froze. Even the mammoth-like divine beast was like a specimen frozen in ice, unable to think or move.

Even Akasha felt a hint of death from the technique. Had his death-type clone not had a portion of Will, he feared that he would have also been frozen in the divine ability.

Under the might of the Four Divine Beast's combined divine ability, the mammoth-like divine beast's body began to distort and twist, stretching like some horrific flesh gum. Moments later, all that was left was a puddle of blood and an earth-type divine spark.

It was a complete death.

"Finally took down that bastard," The White Tiger said after spitting a wad of saliva on the ground.

"It's only a pity. If we didn't use our divine abilities, then we could have taken his spatial ring." The Vermillion Bird said pity. In contrast with the previous three, her voice was obviously lighter and softer.

"Don't linger too much," Redding said. "With our four's combined strength, who can fight against us aside from the Sovereigns?"

Hearing this, the White Tiger, Vermillion Bird, and Black Tortoise nodded in agreement.

"Eh?" The Black Tortoise turned towards the distance to see a God in a trance. "What's wrong with this guy?"

"Perhaps he saw our battle and gained a hint of inspiration?" The Vermillion Bird said.

"He seems to have some luck with us. How about accepting him as our servant? We can't do everything ourselves, can we?" The White Tiger said.

Redding nodded.

A few hours later, they suddenly sensed the supreme law descending. After Akasha finished becoming a Highgod, the Four Divine Beasts appeared in front of him.

"Little fellow, it seems that you owe us something. How about becoming our servants to pay us back?" The White Tiger's was obviously a question, but his tone left no other options.

Akasha laughed. 'No wonder the Four Divine Beast Clan were hunted by numerous other clans. Just the White Tiger's attitude is enough to aggro hate.'

"You're being too presumptuous," Akasha said as his facial expression turned cold.

"Brat, it seems that you don't understand our strength even after seeing us kill Spihn?" The Black Tortoise said, his tone becoming unkind.

Even Redding, the Azure Dragon, and the Vermillion Birds looked at Akasha differently.

Akasha sighed and shrugged. She spread out his hands. "If you want to fight, then fight. But I'll warn you now, don't underestimate me because I just became a Highgod. My true strength isn't something you can understand."

"Stop bluffing." The White Tiger shouted and charged.

None of the other Four Divine Beasts made a move. They were the favored children of the universe. Even if they only trained in the inferior elemental laws, they were a level stronger than almost any other deity they met thanks to their strong bodies. And the few they couldn't take down individually, they all defeated thanks to their combined might.

However, expectations were often different than reality.

A white blur whizzed by the three divine beasts. When they turned around, they saw the White Tiger embedded deep into the ground. "Third Brother!"

"Everyone, defend!" Redding, who realized the threat earlier, immediately commanded.

However, Akasha would not allow them to fully display their abilities. After becoming a Highgod, he realized the combined divine abilities of the Four Divine Beasts had the possibility of killing him in his current state.

In the later era, Paragons were renowned experts, invincible among deities, but Linley broke that rule, and now, Akasha was sure that the Four Divine Beasts had the same potential even if they never became Highgods. If paragons existed in the current era and fought the Four Divine Beasts, then the legend of Paragons being invincible would not exist.

After a good thrashing, four large bodies lay on the crater-ridden grounds, full of wounds and gasping for breath. The strength of the Four Divine Beasts was evident, but as long as an expert incapacitated one of them, they lost over fifty percent of their threat level.

"Are you a Sovereign?"

Akasha blinked and turned towards the Azure Dragon that had managed to get back onto its legs. "Well, you're not exactly wrong."

Hearing this, the rest of the Four Divine Beasts sucked in a cold breath. What, they wanted to turn a Sovereign into their servant. Just thinking about it sent shivers down their spines.

"I apologize for our rudeness. We never expected a new Highgod would be a revered Sovereign. We are willing to pay any prince." Redding said as he bowed.

"Heh, at least you aren't too arrogant," Akasha said. "Your ability to combine your divine abilities interests me. Alright, give me ten blood essence from each of you."

"Alright." Redding agreed without much thought.

"But Big Brother!" The White Tiger cried out aghast. Not just him but the Vermillion Bird and Black Tortoise had unwilling looks on their faces too.

"Quiet. Do you think we could really survive if the Sovereign wanted to kill us? He could just kill us and harvest our bodies!"

Hearing Redding's words, the three other divine beasts quieted down. Redding was the first to react. His face scrunched in concentration and suddenly paled. Ten azure droplets with a golden glow flew out of his body towards Akasha.

Not long after, ten white droplets, ten black droplets, and ten red droplets also entered Akasha's hand. "Hmm, not bad. I actually want some more. If you give me five more each, I'll give you something good. How about it?"

Hearing this, the Four Divine Beasts quieted down. They had already lost ten drops of blood essence, and now they were still being fleeced!?

"Alright," Redding said after a moment of contemplation.

"Big Brother!" This time it was the Black Tortoise who spoke. "We already greatly damaged our foundations. If we give another five drops, who knows how long it will take to heal."

"It's already good that the Sovereign is asking us. This Sovereign seems to be quite easy to talk to. So what if we give a few more drops of blood essence? We can with time, but this is a Sovereign! If we can form a relationship, then the potential is infinite."

Hearing this, the Four Divine Beasts sunk into silence. A moment later, twenty more drops of blood essence appeared in Akasha's hand.

"You made a smart decision today," Akasha said as he stored the extra blood essence. He wouldn't be like Beiruit trying to create the Four Supreme Warriors. He would use them to strengthen his body instead, but not now.

"Alright, it's inconvenient to talk here. How about we go somewhere better?" Akasha asked.

Hearing this, the Four Divine Beasts shared and looked and invited Akasha to their lair. It was only now that Akasha realized he was near Skyrite Mountains, but the name hadn't become famous yet due to the budding fame of Four Divine Beasts.

Who could know that Skyrite Mountains would become the territory of the strongest clan of the universe?

Once inside, Akasha was given numerous delicacies to try. He nodded in appreciation. During this time, he was formally introduced to the Four Divine Beasts. None of them had children yet, so all the other occupants were servants of the Four Divine Beasts.

The Azure Dragon's name was Redding, the Black Tortoise's name was Bowen, the White Tiger's name was Laius, and the Vermillion Bird's name was Nimo.

"Let me ask, do you know how many Sovereigns there are?" Akasha asked.

"Please enlighten us."

"They're a total of forty-four Sovereigns. Eleven four each edict." Akasha said.

Hearing this, Redding showed a disappointed expression. "Are there no Sovereigns of the elementals laws? It seems that the elemental laws are indeed inferior to the four edicts."

"There aren't any yet, but why do you think the elemental laws are weaker than the four edicts?"

"Is that not the truth?" Redding asked. "When deity training in the elemental laws become a Highgod, they reached the peak of their power. But those that train in the four edicts can continuously comprehend more and strengthen themselves."

Akasha laughed. "I guess it's not common knowledge yet, but the seven elemental laws and the four edicts have the same potential."

"Truly?"

"Yes. But unlike the four edicts where you continuously comprehend, you have to fuse each individual mystery. Once you fuse all mysteries, it will equal to the full mastery of an edict."

Hearing this, Redding, Bowen, Laius, and Nimo showed excited expressions. They thought they had reached the limit of their potential, but now, Akasha told them they still had room for improvement. It was completely worth the extra blood essence they paid.

Akasha didn't know whether to laugh or cry at the Four Divine Beasts' excitement. This would become common knowledge in the future, but they thought they got a steal by paying blood essence. Akasha shook his head and recalled Platos had just fused four mysteries of water. Compared to Linley, he was far too slow, and he was still a God.

He glanced at the excited Four Divine Beasts. If they couldn't become Paragon as Sovereigns, then the chances of them fusing all the mysteries as Highgod was abysmal.

"It's much harder than you think," Akasha said, dousing their excitement. Or as much as he could since their eyes still exuded excitement. A small bottle appeared in his hand, and he threw it toward them.

Redding caught the bottle that was incomparably small compared to his hands. Using his divine sense, he could sense a liquid inside that exuded a terrifying aura. "This is?"

"You know about Sovereigns, so you should be clear about Sovereign's Might, should you not?"

Hearing this, Nimo, Laius, and Bowen couldn't help but crowd around Redding. Each one wanted to test the Sovereign's Might. Not long later, all four consumed a drop of Sovereign's Might and were awed by the increase in strength.

"If we had a single drop, then we wouldn't even need to use our combined divine ability. Each one of us can kill him one-on-one!"

Akasha felt his lips twitch at the prodigal deities. Should you save the Sovereign's Might instead of wasting it just to try it?

After dining, Akasha left. Meeting the Four Divine Beasts made him realize that it shouldn't be too long before the elemental Sovereigns appeared. Since the Four Divine Beasts could kill a Chief Sovereign as Lesser Sovereigns, what if they were Intermediate Sovereigns?

As soon as the thought occurred, Akasha vowed not to allow that to happen. The Four Divine Beast's merged divine ability was too heaven-defying.

Not long after leaving Skyrite Mountains, a second Akasha appeared. This was his destruction-type Sovereign clone and main body. The death-type divine clone threw a spatial ring toward his main body.

"Many thanks, Fellow Daoist."

The death-type divine cloned rolled his eyes. "This isn't a damn xianxia."

Akasha's main body laughed and disappeared. He planned to research to see if he could merge the four different types of blood essence or infuse Sovereign's might into them and use them to strengthen his body, but since the elemental Sovereign's Power hadn't appeared yet, the former would take precedence.

He thought about absorbing the Four Divine Beasts in order to take their divine abilities but decided against it in the end. Akasha had no guarantee that he would be able to achieve transcendence with it, and sucking up to Linley was a better plan.

Actually, Akasha just wanted to see Linley in the flesh. Previously, he only knew of Linley through words and wondered what the actual person would be like. Akasha gave a burst of mirthless laughter. "If Linley is a fictional character, what am I?"

A million years later, Akasha's main body flew out of Elysium. He planned to visit the Nether Realm.
