Edward's daily life was business as usual, just like the days before, except for the events of the past three years. The second year was the most dangerous, and he had to look around with a mirror while walking around Hogwarts. Luckily, he wasn't harmed by the basilisk. He left an anonymous letter for Hermione, the smartest of the three, hinting at what kind of monster was in the hidden room.
Last year, he didn't have much contact with them. When he was with them, there was always an ambivalent feeling that enveloped him. Although he was with them, there was always a distance within him.
As it should have been, they walked ahead as they were. He was only ahead of them in the first year, which had to do with a mature mind. It went well, but at the end of the year, he was already behind them.
Even though Harry and Ron weren't academically superior, they still had talent. Compared to them, Hermione was much better in knowledge, intelligence, and wisdom. Everything was on point, even if he had lived over 20 years in his previous life. He still marveled at how amazing she was. She was too savvy and very often he was behind her.
When he was with them, there was always some sense of incongruity. Maybe because he was ordinary, he thought it was all just a dream or a fantasy. Perhaps he had not met any real geniuses in the previous world, and now comparing everything seemed unreal.
It wasn't until he distanced himself from them that he could gain a sense of reality. Even though he was still occasionally carried away somewhere in the distance, just as he had been before. All the time Edward lived in this world, he had many thoughts about everything he knew, from science to the soul. Because it was very easy to get confused.
Slap!
It hurt, but he had to slap himself. Funny, but it was the quickest way out of it.
Stolen novel; please report.
Looking at the book in front of him, he shook his head.
What a beautiful view from his window room.
Finally finishing his homework, Edward stretched and stood up. It was surprising to him that in this world, he had to do so many assignments. While he still enjoyed thinking about interesting things, he had to work pretty hard to ensure at least an average level of knowledge. In the past, neglecting lessons had taught him a lesson in assimilation.
Opening the door, he went downstairs. At the end of the stairs, a large hall opened up, with numerous books and a statue of Ravenclaw in the center. It was quiet, as most people preferred to read rather than talk to each other.
His eyes wandered before turning to the girl sitting on the balcony, the one with blond hair. Although he couldn't see her face, he knew she was one of the heroines of this universe.
In his second year, he had some contact with her, but that feeling of always being on some other plane confused him even more.
Sighing, he adjusted his school uniform before opening the main entrance and walking out.
After walking for a while, Edward finally arrived at the moving stairs. He had always wondered how they moved and based on what. As before, an amazing view opened before his eyes. The stairs danced through the air, changing their direction and creating new paths.
As he descended the steps, a certain thought popped into Edward's head. According to his observations, the stairs were always reacting and moving because of wizards. He had also previously confirmed that the stairs clearly discerned who was from which department.
But now the thought occurred to him: why weren't many ladders created so there wouldn't be so much confusion? Was it to make the school more magical, or was there another reason?
He suddenly wondered, if there were no people who wanted to go somewhere, would they still move or not? Could the residual thoughts of these portraits affect the movements of the stairs? Or, if you remove all these things and never hear, will the stairs move or not?
Question after question arose in Edward's mind, whereupon he stopped, his gaze falling upon the portrait in this vast space.
The more he thought about it, the more he wondered. In his opinion, the place could have been made much better and brighter. Instead of making so many stairs, they could have made floating platforms. That's why he always wondered if there was as much mystery to this place as there was to other places at Hogwarts.
One way to find out was the library...
