D: You decide to ignore the urge to go left and wander off of the path and keep going straight. Over your headset, you hear a voice but you miss most of the words and only catch, “The headgear isn’t working well. We’re not sure, but what happened, but the Agents that went West have been completely cut off. We need you back here at the agency so we can re-plan.
“What about those that went west?” You ask.
“Agent 48, I know you like to be the hero, but I think it’s for the best that you come back so we can regroup and come up with a better plan. Remember your training and don’t let things get too personal. We’ll worry about Agent 56 later.”
You look your fellow agents in the eye one by one. You let out a sigh at the bad news. “Well team, it sounds like we’re being called back.”
“What? What about Agent 56? C'mon 48, I thought you of all people would care about 56’s safety.”
Your cheeks get warm and you feel your teeth start to grind. “I do, Agent 72.”
Agent 72 looks like she wants to argue but Agent 25, your right-hand man, beats her to it.
“We follow you, 48.
Time passes slowly as you make your way back. The forest doesn’t seem quite the same as it had on the way into it, and after what feels like hours, you start feeling tired, and your agents start to complain.

“You’re leading us in circles,” 72 says. “Maybe you should let someone else take a turn leading.”
“Give him a break, 72,” Agent 25 says. “We’re all worried about Agent 56.”
“head back and go up the other path to help the others search. Light starts to appear, bringing color to the sky and softly lighting your way through the forest.
72’s words get you thinking. Why is it taking so long? And why haven’t you heard anything through the ear piece.
You try to contact the agency, but no one answers. “Hello? Anyone there?”
No response.
“Guy’s this is no time for a coffee break.”
Still, there’s nothing. You decide to keep going.
The trees start getting thinner and you realize that the sky is far lighter than it had been. The sun starts making its way over the horizon. You’ve been out the whole night. You finally get to a fork in the road that you recognize as the one next to your agency headquarters as the sun comes into view over the mountains.
When you reach the secret hideout, none of your badges are opening the door. It’s as if the power has been shut down.
“Should we break in?” Agent 25 asks, speaking your mind.
“There’s a lot of security to back this up. They might be on lock down mode.”
“I still think we should go after the group that went missing in the west,” says Agent 72. “We heard that they lost contact with the agency after we had been walking for nearly an hour. Maybe we could still get there in time to help.”
The other agents start talking about the situation, and before long, there’s a full on argument.
“Stop it! Arguing isn’t going to help anything,” you say.
“You’re right,” says 25. “We’re right behind you on whatever you choose.
