Giles was still sleeping when he felt something soft touch his body. Memories flooded his mind.
Is that you? I... I missed you.
Before Giles could enjoy the soft and warm feeling, he feels an immense pain pierce his leg.
Giles quickly wakes up and screams.
"Ahhhhh!"
Giles looks at the source of pain and notices Fen biting his right leg with powerful teeth that could rip through reinforced steel. Angered by the pain, Giles curses.
"Fen you little shit!"
Fen pulls aways and speaks. He was holding back an angry growl.
"Look at the time."
Giles knows that Fen is a serious individual. He ignores the searing pain for a moment. Giles looks at the clock and sees that it is 9:00 PM.
LATE!!!!
Giles immediately stands up and moves around his house to do his morning rituals.
"Fen! You didn't even bother to wake me up!"
Once Giles started moving, Fen moves towards the couch. He gracefully sits on it and relaxes. He doesn't bother replying to Giles. Annoyed, Giles shouts at Fen while he changes his clothes.
"Stupid companion!"
Fen chuckles to himself as Giles panics and prepares to go to work.
Giles finishes all his morning rituals in record time, a total of 5 minutes.
Without talking to Fen, Giles rushes to the door to run again towards Calloren academy.
I need to be faster this time. No more trying to save random people on the streets from freak monster invasions.
Giles suddenly disappears from his house as he moves with immense speed.
----------------------------------------
Dante was currently staring at the academy's gates.
Another day...
Before Dante could walk forward or do anything, he notices someone else walk towards the gates.
This person wore simple clothes that didn't fit the high-profile students that are enrolled in Calloren academy.
Dante's memory of the people in the academy consists of Lyo, Giles, Selena, and Steve. They're the only people who've managed to imprint themselves on Dante's memory.
Usually, if Dante didn't know someone, he'd ignore them.
People that couldn't be remembered aren't worth acknowledging.
The person in front of Dante is someone he remembers.
Dante frowns to himself.
It's that bitch again.
Selena was wearing a white shirt paired with black shorts. The students that were wearing uniforms weirdly looked at her. But they knew better than to mess with her. After all, the catastrophe class of Calloren academy allowed its students to wear anything to allow them to express their "creativity".
For Selena, this combination of clothes were the most comfortable she could wear. She loves wearing these types of clothes and hates uniforms. Another reason for her enrollment in this class is due to delinquency by not wearing her uniform properly.
Selena looks beside her and sees Dante. For her, Dante was just a rich brat that regularly wore branded clothing along with some enchanted trinkets that he got from his family.
She smirks which causes Dante to scowl.
Seeing that Selena was going to openly antagonize him, Dante angrily screams.
"You wanna go huh?!"
Selena, who's always raring to fight, gives Dante a twisted-looking smile.
She stretches her hands which pops her bones. Acting as if she wasn't knocked out yesterday, Selena screams back.
"Thought you'd never ask!"
Quickly, the two students become empowered by their will.
Despite having a weaker amount of will, Selena smiles at Dante. She would give anything for a good fight.
Dante is scowling at Selena's unperturbed appearance.
Not the type to wait, Dante makes the first move. He raises his right leg and makes a powerful roundhouse toward's Selena's head.
Selena reacts and throws a fast straight punch towards Dante.
Before the two could hit each other, their limbs are suddenly stopped by a tough force. Selena expresses her surprise.
"What the?"
On the other hand, Dante shouts.
"WHO THE HELL?"
Dante and Selena find themselves unable to move. Looking at the one that stopped them, they almost imagined Steve to be there. But their lazy classmate was nowhere to be found.
Between the two students is guard Yatt, the unassuming front door guard of Calloren academy.
Guard Yatt lets the two students go and they quickly move away to make space.
Yatt's exasperated but also equally terrified voice rings from his weak figure.
"Guys, please. You have a combat gym, take it there. Not in front of the school where people can take videos or watch."
This desperate plea is like a splash of water to the two hot-headed students.
Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.
They look around and notice that they are indeed being watched by everyday citizens.
Selena curses to herself and walks towards the school entrance while Dante tries to hide his face, knowing that he is from a famous and important family.
The two students reluctantly walk in before they cause any more ruckus.
Once inside, Dante looks at Selena who's pissed because her fight with Dante was canceled and not because people were watching.
He gets peeved off by this.
"Later. Combat gym. You. Me. Fight."
Selena doesn't say anything but simply smiles at him.
With a tense silence surrounding the air, the two students walk through the hallway towards their catastrophe classroom.
----------------------------------------
Steve was currently inside the clinic when the bell first rang. He lazily opens his eyes, one eyelid at a time. His eyes slowly move around to take into account the entire room.
"What...time is it?"
Stevie asks that question out loud. Despite not expecting anyone to answer, Steve receives one.
"It's 7:30, young man. You should be going to your class, not breaking in the nurses' room just to skip class."
Looking for the source of the voice, Stevie turns around to see a gorgeous nurse standing in front of him.
Steve was confused. He didn't break in, he slept here yesterday and never went out.
Thank God that I bought that anti-odor trinket... When did I last wash my clothes again?
Stevie starts to actually wonder when he last washed his clothes but before he could contemplate his surely dirty attire, he hears the voice of the nurse again.
"Young man, I called you. What's your name?"
Stevie slowly sits up, closing and opening his eyelids.
"Stevie but Steve is better."
The nurse thinks for a bit then she nods.
"Well Steve, it is time for your class. Please go away before I have to drag you out."
Steve nods, not in the mood to argue.
The boy who would rather be a sloth starts to walk but remembers an important rule his mother always told him to follow.
Be good. Always have manners.
Steve turns around to look at the nurse.
"I'm sorry I stayed here despite having class."
The nurse lightens up a bit and smiles.
"Well, at least you aren't as bad as I first thought. Now, don't be a delinquent and run along to class."
The nurse is about to return to her work, satisfied with Steve but the young student had other intentions.
"Ms. nurse, may I come back later if I'm tired and I have no other classes?"
The nurse seems surprised at this. Turning around, the nurse looks at Stevie's face.
Does this kid still want to come back?
Steve made a good impression with his apology. Smiling, the nurse nods.
Satisfied, Stevie leaves the nurse's office with a silent goodbye.
Steve lazily walks towards his class.
While Stevie is walking down the hallway, he notices other students wearing the academy's uniform. Appreciating the privilege of wearing casual clothes, Steve heaves a sigh of relief. For him, the uniforms look uncomfortable.
After all, Stevie is not the type to wear flashy clothes and is used to looking unkempt. This slothful attitude is the reason for a lot of the reprimands from his old teachers. At least now, Steve doesn't need to wear a uniform.
I guess... being in the catastrophe class has its advantages.
Steve is lost to his inner thoughts as he lets his body move towards the class in auto-pilot mode.
----------------------------------------
There are four uniformed students in a small lounge within the academy. They were comfortably sitting on expensive-looking seats. The four students were relaxing. Despite the aura of the lounge, not everyone was in a good mood.
There was a kneeling boy whose face was flat on the ground.
One of the seated men was wearing a uniform for the seniors of Calloren academy. He called the attention of the kneeling boy.
"So, the new catastrophe students did... what now?"
The kneeling student trembled when the senior spoke.
Fuck, why did I agree to this... senior James will kill me... even if I do good!
James, the one who just spoke, called out again, this time with a bit more force in his voice.
The room seems to become a bit darker as James' will envelops it.
"Ian, I just asked you a question. Are you going to answer it or not?"
Feeling the call of death, Ian eventually manages to gather the courage needed and speaks up.
"Si-sir James, they sparred with the... new professor of the Catastrophe class."
A girl student rolls her eyes. She comments derisively at the other seated students.
"The old one retired since she failed to properly control her students. This one goes straight to fighting."
A seated senior replies to the girl's comment.
"Leila, retired? I thought she got removed from the position by the principal and put in a different department because she was incompetent?"
The one who made the original comment, Leila, shrugs. She continues.
"The principal is harsh on bad teachers. Wonder why she wasn't laid off."
James replies.
"The current head officer Ava is the principal's niece. She was given some... leeway. She considers it her biggest shame, that's why she's keeping an eye on the current professor... and her students."
Ian's body stops moving as if he heard some forbidden news. Leila frowns. She looks towards one of her fellow seniors.
"Christian, what do you think of this bullshit?"
Christian is another seated student but was sleeping on his comfy armchair. His eyes flutter open.
"Sorry... I feel tired."
James sighs.
"You didn't sleep again?"
Christian gives them a wry smile.
"Nah, you know I'm always tired. My unique power keeps me tired."
James smiles at his friend's subtle bragging.
Of course, he'd brag.
Christian had a high-ranked power after all.
"Since I'm awake."
Christian looks at Ian.
"Kid tell me about the class. Anything interesting?"
Leila shrugs as her topic was glossed over by the newly awakened Christian.
Ian replies quicker now, less afraid due to constant exposure.
"We-well... the youngest student sir comes from the Zeiss family."
James and Leila's faces scrunch up a bit.
Christian just smiles.
"Another Zeiss huh. Maybe we should make the first contact so... our future meetings will be easier."
James recovers and nods.
"I agree. Christian, why don't you go first?"
Christian looks at James but notices his serious look.
"Alright alright, I'll go check them out first. Eline comes with me. It'll be boring to go with just myself."
Eline gives Christian a lewd look.
"You just want me all to yourself again. You don't need to make up reasons for us to be alone."
Christian stands up and ignores her.
"Hey wait! I was just kidding!"
Christian and Eline leave the room with an uncomfortable Ian on the floor and James and Leila still seated.
James looks to his fellow senior. Leila had violet hair and a strong physique. If it came down to a physical fight, she'd destroy him in seconds but he knows better than to try and fight her that way.
"My dearest Leila, while our two deadly sins go out to... scout our new possible challenges. Would you want to eat something? After all, I wouldn't want our group's queen to go hungry."
Leila smiles and stands up. James smiles as well and tries to stand up but Leila quickly pushes him back to his seat by putting considerable force on his shoulder.
James grunts a bit but does his best to avoid showing weakness.
"James, you and I know that I only joined this group cause I needed the connections. Now, if you try to use your sweet talk on me again like I'm some ditzy freshman, I'll break your collarbone. And yes, I want something to eat but next time just ask me out properly."
James sneers a bit which earns a smirk from Leila.
Leila lets James go. James rubs his shoulder a bit then stands up.
"Always the violent one Leila. Now... let's find something to eat before our professor looks for us."
Leila frowns when she remembers their professor.
"Yeah, sir Jackson is a stick in the mud. Let's go."
James and Leila leave the lounge and enter the hallway.
Once all of the seniors were out, Ian slowly raises his head. Once he notices that he's alone in the room, he quickly stands up and makes a break for it.
Fuck my life!
----------------------------------------
Giles was currently traversing the rooftops of houses and buildings. He was not perceptible to the normal human's eye but nearby powerful individuals manage to catch his trail. Fortunately enough, most of them ignored him since he isn't doing anything bad or illegal.
A few more seconds and I'll be in school. I'm late again. Ava will surely be pissed off.
Giles seems to remember a time when he was appointed as the catastrophe class' teacher and was immediately warned by Ava to be good or else. Giles didn't think much of it.
Shit.
Despite being far away from the school, Giles could see the beautiful and uniformed head officer waiting at the front entrance.
Ava.
Giles speeds up to avoid being caught by Ava but when he's about to pass her, Ava moves with an equal amount of blinding speed and blocks his path.
Giles slams straight to Ava, expecting to fall down with her but the head officer stands strong and even pushes Giles back to the ground. Once on the ground, Giles slowly tilts his head up.
Ava looks at the time.
"9:05 AM. You're late... on your 2nd day, after being late on your 1st day."
Giles is speechless. Ava has it out for him.
"Why is the head officer in the front gate? Shouldn't that be guard Yatt's job?"
Ava scowls angrily.
"Yatt had business. He's currently hauling a lot of unconscious students to the clinic."
Giles' eyes widen at hearing the news.
"WHAT??"
