Catastrophe Teacher
Chapter 1: Giles Ivor

Chapter 1: Giles Ivor

It was currently 9:00 AM and a very irresponsible teacher is running late for his class.

"Shit, shit, shit..."

A man in his mid-twenties is currently running around his house, looking for clothes and notes.

While this poor man is running around looking for his belongings, a majestic wolf exits the man's bedroom. It yawns for a bit and lazily makes its way to the living room's couch.

When it comfortably settles, it speaks with a deep but wise voice.

"This is why you shouldn't stay up for too long. You're always tired and you're late. Not a good example for a teacher."

The wolf becomes annoyed when the man doesn't respond. It shouts, a bit annoyed.

"Hey, Giles! Do you hear me?! I'm talking to you!"

Giles eventually appears back in the living room. He was wearing a white uniform and comfortable black pants. Not wanting an argument so early in the morning, Giles replies to his companion.

"Yeah, I heard you Fen! I'm doing my best to finish up and It helps if my companion can shut up."

Fen growls at Giles but he does as his friend says and simply lies down on the couch. Despite not speaking, Fen continued to observe the fast-moving human.

Giles eventually finishes his preparation and quickly looks at his watch.

It's currently 9:12.

Okay, not too late!

Then he remembered. Calloren Academy is three train stops away.

Fuck.

Fen speaks as if reading Giles' mind.

"You won't make it in time if you ride the train. Just travel by foot, it'll be faster."

Giles contemplates for a moment if he should take the train but he quickly realizes that Fen is correct. Taking the train would take too much time. Before he leaves, Giles quickly sets a big meal for Fen, one that would last the whole day.

Seeing Giles about to leave, Fen tells him to take care.

"Take care, Giles."

Giles reminds Fen not to do anything bad.

"Don't cause trouble Fen."

Giles gives Fen a quick head rub before he leaves.

Once out of the door, Giles looks up and sees a huge flaming red bat flying overhead towards the city.

"Just my luck."

----------------------------------------

There are two tense individuals in a prestigious and fancy-looking office.

The two of them are sitting on the opposite sides of a huge desk, containing materials a dean would have.

The person sitting on the desk's seat is refined, clean and sharp while the person on the other side is brash, young, and unpolished.

There is a tense silence between the two persons as they study and gauge each other. Eventually, the dean speaks.

"Dante... do you know why I'm sending you to the catastrophe class?"

Dante doesn't immediately reply and takes his time articulating his words.

"I am different and all the people in the normal classes are a bunch of untalented weaklings that don't even deserve to be enrolled in this academy!"

The dean sighs and for a moment he thinks of what to say.

Why are the prospective students of that class always so troublesome???

Sighing, he notices his desk sign is a bit crooked so he fixes it.

His desk sign reads.

Dean of Calloren Academy: Dr. Lyo Elcet

Lyo sighs and recollects his thoughts. He takes a look at Dante so he can get a clearer memory of his appearance.

Dante is a young man at the age of 16 years old. He has white hair and violet eyes which is a trait of his family. Just like most people of his stature, Dante was both handsome and impressive to look at.

Shame, that's he's a punk.

"Dante, you are talented and your willpower rating is quite high."

Dante looks smug at the mention of his rather high willpower.

"But it is not a reason to act all high and mighty. The catastrophe class is not just for talented students but instead, it is for arrogant ones like you that believe that their higher rating gives them the right to push around others."

Dr. Lyo rubs his forehead and then continues.

"You think you're special but I promise you that in the catastrophe class, you are quite mediocre."

When Dante heard the word mediocre, his eyes seem to glow as he stands up. The room suddenly feels tighter and constrained as Dante's unique inherited power fills the room.

"What did you say?"

Dr. Lyo is unphased as he simply taps his index finger on the desk. Immediately, Dante is forced to sit back down and his power is quickly suppressed.

What is this?!

Dante was panicking as his unique power was being suppressed by something heavy. He couldn't identify it so Dante started panicking.

"Is this your unique power?"

Dr. Lyo shakes his head.

"You are talented and have a unique power but you are no match for me. I can easily lock down your powers with the sheer power of my will."

Dante was surprised at this predicament. This was the first time he felt that his unique power wouldn't work despite its overwhelming abilities.

Eventually, Dante feels the pressure disappear as Dr. Lyo releases his will.

Dr. Lyo looks at the clock behind them and notices that it is currently 9:12 AM.

Ivor is late... I'll have to tell him off when he comes...

"Dante, you'll go to class and wait for professor Ivor with the rest of the other students."

Dante scoffs at the idea of listening to an inexperienced teacher, as his parents and personal tutors were far more experienced than the average professors here.

Dr. Lyo notices this and internally laughs.

It seems Ivor has his hands full again.

"You're excused, Dante."

Dante stands up and leaves the room. Once outside, he thinks of whether to go to the classroom or just leave. After a very quick deliberation, Dante chooses to leave. He'll just go to class on the 2nd day.

Easily avoiding the school's patrolling students, Dante finds a wall of the academy that didn't have much traffic. Dante infuses his body with his will and he jumps up the wall with one light skip.

Dante lands on the other side and quickly blends in with the crowd.

While quickly moving throughout the city, he notices a lack of people and a surplus of screams.

"What the?"

----------------------------------------

Inside his office, the dean is amused.

Dr. Lyo is currently thinking of the will imprint he put on Dante.

Almost every student in the catastrophe class tried to overwhelm or attack Dr. Lyo with their immense will or unique powers, except a student named Steve.

When the students attacked him, it gave Lyo a reason to simply overpower them with his own will and stealthily plant a will imprint on them.

Professor Ivor will be able to sense that I put my will on them. He'll know that they're his students.

----------------------------------------

"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH"

The screams of citizens fill the air as the monstrous bat is terrorizing the area.

"ATTENTION CITIZENS!!! A MIERFUEN IS CURRENTLY IN THE CITY. HEAD TO ANY NEARBY BUILDING AND BUNKER DOWN. WILL-USERS ARE ON THEIR WAY TO SUBDUE THE MIERFUEN. I REPEAT."

This warning repeats multiple times as the city's citizens try to avoid the rampaging giant fire bat.

Powerful gouts of flames hit the streets as the Mierfuen exhales fire. Its heat is enough to melt cars and turn the asphalt into sludge.

The animal-like and powerful Mierfuen is attracted to the panics of the citizens as it tries to use its huge mouth and powerful jaws to devour them.

For the Mierfuen, these puny creatures that carry will is a delicious meal.

A mother and a child who is running away is the current target of the giant Mierfuen.

"Keep running Sue! We need to keep running!"

The mother continued to run while pulling her child.

"Momma! Momma! I'm tired!"

The cries of the mother and child made the Mierfuen fly faster as it saw its wriggling prey. It was getting hungrier.

The child suddenly falls to the ground and before it could stand up, the Mierfuen suddenly swoops down with its mouth wide open.

"NO!!"

The mother drops down and futilely covers her child's body.

The Mierfuen's mouth hits the ground and it feels concrete. It roars in pain as it feels crushed stone enter its system.

It quickly looks around, searching for its prey.

"HEY! YOU GIANT RODENT!"

The Mierfuen turns its head towards the sound and sees another human with white hair carrying its prey.

Dante lets down the mother and the child.

"Leave. I'll deal with this."

The mother and child quickly thank Dante and run away. Dante makes sure to keep his guard while the two of them run away. Once they were relatively far away, Dante turns to the Mierfuen.

What the fuck is that strength?

Dante looks at the destroyed street, revealing the pipes underneath.

I was lucky to save those two but one wrong move and this thing will crush me within its teeth.

The Mierfuen is gauging Dante as it lands on the ground, causing a small earthquake.

Dante pretends to be strong as he stares down this massive creature. Fear grips him as he might be staring down his death.

No! I am not a weakling!

Dante gathers his courage and infuses will throughout his body which excites the will-hungry Mierfuen.

Before Dante could react, the Mierfuen suddenly darts forward with its mouth breathing metal melting fire.

Am I dead?

Dante closes his eyes in fear.

Fearing for his death, Dante feels no teeth or fire hit him. Suddenly he feels a powerful burst of air surround him.

He opens his eyes and sees a tall man's back facing him.

The Mierfuen's mouth is being effortlessly held back by the man's right hand.

Dante takes a look and the fire that was supposed to be exhaled towards him is now being suppressed inside the Mierfuen.

The Mierfuen is mindless but it has instincts.

And now, it wasn't hungry anymore. It was afraid.

"A low-level beast attacking the city? Odd."

The Mierfuen tries to retract its massive body but Giles' hand is gripping it in place. Its fiery breath is kept inside its mouth, cooking its insides.

"Well, whatever."

Giles winds up his free left arm.

Then he punches forward, releasing a powerful sonic boom that explodes outwards.

Dante, despite his proximity to the sonic boom, is not thrown away.

He opens his eyes and sees no trace of the massive Mierfuen, except a red crystal on the floor.

"Oh, it had a beast crystal. Neat, I can sell that later."

Giles takes the crystal and pockets it. He turns around and looks at Dante.

"So... What is a student of mine, doing here?"
