Chapter 6: A Jam Packed Day

Chapter 6: A Jam Packed Day

Dante woke up in a white room that smelled like medicine and iodine. Looking around, the first thing Dante notices is Steve who is currently napping on a bed beside him.

Wha- What happened?

Dante sits up and he feels an ache spread all over his body, especially his face. A deluge of emotions comes pouring in as Dante remembers what happened.

He was knocked out. At first, there was a feeling of emptiness but it was quickly engulfed by anger.

This has never happened before. No one has ever knocked me out! Even my teachers before didn't knock me out! No one would dare!

Anger starts to bubble on the surface as Dante starts to plot the demise of his teacher.

Yes... if I tell father about this... that teacher will disappear... no! I can't bother my father with trivial things. I'll have to do it on my own... What about poison?... One strong enough to kill archon-level individuals... Yes yes...

Dante looks around to take in the whole room.

The clinic?

Dante sees other students that are currently unconscious as well. Studying each one, he sees the woman who helped him attack Giles. Curious, Dante tries to remember her name but they weren't formally introduced.

What's her name again?

Focused on himself, Dante hears a voice beside him.

"You're awake."

Dante reacts to the voice and turns to his left. He sees Stevie sitting up and stretching. Steve yawns while he lazily looks at Dante.

Checking out the sleepy student, Dante notices that Stevie looks bedraggled and a bit dirty. He was curious if Steve joined the fight against Giles.

Did he get knocked unconscious as well? I didn't see him when I was fighting with the teacher... He must've joined when I was gone?

While Dante is currently looking at Stevie with a baffled look, Steve started to stretch. He heaves a sigh of relief when some of his bones pop. Despite Giles telling him that he should leave the other students, Stevie still decided to carry his fellow classmates to the clinic.

It took a while but he managed to carry everyone here. The whole time he carried his classmates, Stevie was starting to feel sleepier and sleepier so he slept in the clinic when he managed to put everyone inside.

Dante looks at Steve and notices that his clothes are dirty. Dante looks at himself and notices that he was just as dirty as Steve.

Yes, he did fight the teacher because he was sent to the ground just like me.

But the reason Stevie was dirty was that he slept on the field while his classmates were fighting Giles. Looking at Dante's quick movement, Steve thought that Dante had too much energy.

Hmmmmm... Too energetic... Can't relax that much...

Even in his own mind, Stevie is very slow. It's not to say he's dumb. It's more that he is very lazy.

Despite his aching body, Dante tries to stand up. Realizing that his body hasn't fully healed, Dante calls Stevie.

"He-hey!"

Stevie slowly nods to acknowledge Dante. Seeing Steve reply, Dante speaks with some exasperation.

"Ca-can you give me a hand?"

Stevie thinks for a while as if mulling whether to leave the comfortable bed or not.

Eventually, his good nature wins over and it forces Stevie to overcome his relaxed state. He also wanted to make friends so Steve forced himself to stand up.

Stevie slowly goes towards Dante and helps him stand up. Seeing his classmate move so slowly, Dante internally screams.

That teacher went too far! This poor man is limping!

Once he's on his feet, Dante sighs in relief. He doesn't feel as much pain when he's standing up. He still has to avoid bending his body.

Dante looks at the young man beside him.

Stevie or Steve is tall with an average build. He has good looks but it is hidden underneath unkempt hair and dirty clothes. Dante respects Stevie due to the assumption that Stevie fought Giles as well. It also helps that Steve didn't make fun of Dante's predicament.

Anyone brave enough to attack that teacher is worth it to be friends with.

Dante puts his hand forward and offers it to Stevie. Stevie, being the good-natured person that he is, takes Dante's hand and shakes it. Steve remembers how Dante ignored his hand earlier. This changes his opinion of the white-haired student.

Maybe, he's a softie?

Since he took the initiative, Dante speaks first.

"My name is Dante, what's yours?"

Taking a few seconds to reply, Steve eventually speaks.

"Stevie. Call me Steve."

Dante gestures to his other unconscious classmates.

"What happened?"

Stevie explains to the best of his ability.

"Isn't it obvious?"

Of course, Dante knew what happened. That teacher knocked them out. Dante sees that Stevie wasn't too affected by the fac

"Aren't you angry Steve? He literally knocked everyone out!"

Stevie raises an eyebrow. Dante's statement surprised him.

Despite his surprise, Steve looked like he always was. He didn't have the energy to express it on his face.

"No, I'm not."

Dante looks at Stevie incredulously.

"Why not!?"

Stevie is gathering energy to speak as he starts to feel his laziness overpower his will to stay awake.

"Well, isn't it unfair that... You attacked him first... Then expecting leniency?"

Dante doesn't understand Steve.

"What do you mean?"

Stevie sighs and prepares another batch of energy to speak. Before Stevie could speak, a loud and angry voice resonates across the clinic.

"It means you're an entitled brat!"

Dante quickly turns around to find the source of the voice while Stevie lazily turns his head.

They both see Selena, who just woke up, sit up from her bed. Already angry at Giles, Dante quickly retorts.

"What did you say!?"

Selena, not one to back down, shouts back.

"I said, you're an entitled brat! What type of person complains about getting knocked out after attacking someone! In any other situation, you should be dead."

Dante stands up and walks towards Selena. Despite just waking up, Selena stands up and walks towards Dante. Steve lazily watches the two as they approach each other.

When the two of them meet, Dante notices that Selena is slightly taller than him which irks him. But he couldn't let himself be affected by this. He stands in front of Selena.

"Repeat that in my face you... Bitch!"

Selena chuckles and thinks to herself how fun it would be to break Dante's jaw. Selena slowly repeats what she said.

"I... Said... You're an entitled brat!"

Dante smirks. He crosses his arms as he replies.

"I'm glad you're not a coward! Now, we can finally establish the ranking of our class!"

Selena quickly retorts.

"With you on the bottom!"

Dante's body becomes infused with whatever will he managed to regain through sleeping. He winds up his right arm. He throws a powerful punch towards Selena.

Selena smiles and quickly reacts. She throws a punch towards Dante. The duo, who are quite possibly the most aggressive in the class, start to attack each other.

Halfway through their attacks, Dante and Selena stopped in place as both their fists were caught by Stevie.

Surprised by his new friend's sudden appearance, Dante calls out to Steve.

"Steve?"

Selena wasn't formally introduced to Steve but she was still surprised.

"What?"

The two were surprised at the sudden appearance of Stevie. Stevie tries to articulate that he doesn't want the clinic destroyed since it is a good place for him to sleep but his mouth wouldn't open. He wasn't too surprised by this. After all, talking needed a lot of energy.

If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.

Oh... I guess I couldn't say it.

Dante and Selena try to pull their fists back but they suddenly feel an immense amount of lethargy fill their bodies.

They quickly fall unconscious without realizing what happened.

Steve watches the two of them limply fall to the ground.

Looking at the unconscious Dante and Selena, Stevie yawns and carries their bodies back to their beds. Stevie thinks to himself.

Should I go home?

Stevie remembers his dormitory. It was far and his bed isn't comfortable. It didn't help that the dorm mother was very fond of nagging Steve.

Nah.

Stevie goes back to his bed in the clinic and he goes back to sleep.

A peaceful silence enters the clinic once more as everyone is in a calm slumber.

----------------------------------------

Inside Calloren Academy, there is a huge library full of books and information about the world. Deep within the library is a locked-off area that has information about its staff.

Only a few individuals have the clearance to enter this place. This was because most of the staff of Calloren Academy are people with either unsavory backgrounds or have decided to live new lives. The high clearance area of the library contained one individual. This person slammed the papers in her hands on the desk. The sheer strength the person used ripped the paper and destroyed the desk. Due to Lyo's encompassing will, the two items were restored back to their original appearance. The person clicks her tongue as she shouts.

"Where are his files!"

Fortunately, this area of the library had no librarians.

Kicking the chair, Ava was starting to get frustrated. She spent the whole day looking for any information regarding Giles. The only data she found was Giles' address, name, age, and basic biodata. The chair returns to its original spot. Looking at the computer she was using earlier, Ava gets angry. Both the papers and computers didn't have any of the information she wanted.

Useless!

Ava was tempted to just destroy the computer she was handling but she knew any damage would be deducted from her pay despite her uncle's infused will repairing everything. She couldn't have that as her uncle would tease her.

Since Ava couldn't find anything related to Giles, she reluctantly turns off the computer and leaves the high clearance section of the library.

Standing up from her seat, Ava watches in amusement as the papers return to their respective areas. Ava chuckles.

So convenient.

Ava exits the library and she notices that it was already dark. Checking the time, Ava knew that it was late.

"Oh... I spent a long time there. Tsk, I did it again. Charlene's gonna chew me out."

Despite her position as the head officer of school security, her uncle appointed a competent secretary to handle day-to-day activities so that Ava doesn't need to do much. This doesn't sit well with her but she's happy with the free time.

I'll just have to make it up to Charlene.

Before she leaves the library grounds, Ava uses her will to sense if there is anyone else in the library.

Oh?

Ava senses the presence of the main librarian and another person.

Someone else? At this time of night? That's... that's weird.

Ever a curious person, Ava enters the library again.

Calloren academy is built to withstand powerful punishment. Other than its tough foundation and powerful materials, it is infused with Dr. Lyo's immense will.

This allows individuals like Ava to use their power without worrying too much about collateral damage.

Infusing her body with will, Ava blitzes around the library while locating the other presence she sensed.

Due to her speed, Ava quickly finds the person she sensed. She sees a familiar young man.

Isn't that the kid who transferred between worlds? What was his name? Suzaku? Michael?

Alone in a corner part of the library, Suzaku was currently reading a book. There were a dozen other books stacked up beside him.

Ava remembers her uncle's instructions regarding Suzaku.

People want him due to his weird nature. To counteract this, dr. Lyo allowed Suzaku to live in a dormitory inside the school free of charge. Dr. Lyo also marked Suzaku so that he can easily find him.

What is he doing??

Ava started to eavesdrop as her curiosity started to get the better of her.

While Ava used her will to hide, Suzaku was reading a few books about the history of this world. Outem had always been influenced by the powers inherent within its inhabitants, the powerful beasts, the willful humans, and the great outworlders. Suzaku talks to himself while he reads.

"These outworlders exist between the voids of dimensions. These outworlders can visit any dimension with limitations. Dimensions with a weak will average or power can only accommodate lesser outworlders. Outem is a prime example of an extremely powerful dimension. So far, no other dimension with a stronger will average has been found."

Suzaku furrowed his eyebrows thinking of what he was reading.

Why am I so important if outworlders already exist?

Suzaku continued to read. Despite how late it is, Suzaku was extremely motivated. He wanted to survive. He wanted to live. To do this, he needed to learn more about this world.

In this world, Suzaku is garbage. He has no power or will. He was a normal human put into a world of superhumans.

While reading, Suzaku hears Ava's voice behind him.

"Pretty late for someone who just wants to read."

Panicking, Suzaku looks up and sees Ava who is standing in front of the table. Suzaku, who's never had any good experience with authority figures, stutters.

"Go-good evening ma'am."

She raises her eyebrows which causes Ava to chuckle. Suzaku blushes. Not wanting such a tense mood, Ava speaks in a lighter tone.

"Don't call me ma'am. I'll feel older."

Suzaku, who's never had experience with women either, replies.

"But you are older."

Ava stops. She gives Suzaku a chilling smile.

Hmmm... Would my uncle be angry if I tie this kid up and hang him from a tree?

Ava looks at Suzaku, whose attention was focused on her. She quickly purges the idea of tying Suzaku to a tree from her mind. She breathes in and breathes out.

Calm down, Ava... You know what would happen if you let your emotions get the better of you.

Once Ava manages to calm herself, she asks Suzaku a question while ignoring Suzaku's inappropriate reply.

"Why are you still up? It's already- Oh shit, it's already 12:38."

Ava was surprised. She didn't expect that she would have let the time pass by so quickly.

Suzaku smiles at Ava's surprise. Suzaku studies Ava, a habit he picked up when he entered this new world.

One must never judge a book by its cover.

I wonder who she is... judging by her uniform, she must be an officer... She isn't a librarian either so she must've found me by chance... Or... did she sense me?

While Ava was silently berating herself, Suzaku decided to answer her question.

"I couldn't sleep so I decided to visit the library which is, fortunately, 24/7."

Ava, who didn't have anything better to do, takes a sit. She looks at the books on the table.

"You're reading up on a lot of history... Wasn't professor Ivor supposed to teach you about that?"

Suzaku remembers his classmates. For a normal person like Suzaku, seeing his classmates moving at blinding speeds is definitely an eye-opener.

The only thing more shocking than that was professor Giles.

Suzaku thinks to himself. Could he be like that too?

"No, we only introduced ourselves earlier..."

Ava nods. Using her power to study Suzaku, she notices that he was almost devoid of power.

"So, he hasn't taught you the basics of will?"

Suzaku shakes his head. He looked a bit bitter.

"Isn't that very basic ma- ms?"

Ava chuckles again.

"Ava is the name. Just call me Ava."

Suzaku nods.

"Isn't that very basic ms. Ava?"

Ava explains.

"While it is basic, the applications of will aren't actually trained until a teenager enters upper school."

Suzaku frowns.

"But my classmates are already showing so much... will stuff?"

Ava chuckles. She shakes her head.

"It wasn't the schools who taught them that. It's their family, clan, parents, or their guardians."

Suzaku frowns. While this was no longer his body, he still had some memories regarding Michael's previous life. Michael didn't have any formal training. He had some power but nothing on the level of Suzaku's classmates. Michael's power disappeared when Suzaku took over.

"Isn't that unfair though?"

Ava wants to laugh but she knew that not everyone had the same amount of resources. Before Suzaku's transfer, Michael was most likely a kid that belonged to a middle-class family. If Suzaku didn't happen, Michael would have never had the chance to interact with Ava.

"While it is, we can't really do anything about it. We can't restrict the freedom of a family to teach their children. That's why the catastrophe class exists, it's for anomalies like you and your classmates."

Suzaku heaves a sigh of relief. At least, he wasn't being experimented on.

"So... sir Ivor will teach me, I mean us, to learn how to use will?"

Ava thinks for a moment.

"Well, yes but also no. You wouldn't qualify for the catastrophe class if you couldn't use your will... unless you're an extreme case. In this situation, you're an extreme case."

Suzaku closes the book he was reading and asks.

"Am I really the first one to have a case like this?"

Ava nods without any hesitation. Then she becomes a bit pale as she continues.

"Well, there's been theories that Apocalypse might have been like you but everyone always ignored it as we didn't think it possible at the time. Now every nut head conspiracist will start to rave about how Apocalypse is this and that."

Suzaku swallows the lump in his throat.

"Was Apocalypse... really... that dangerous?"

Ava nods as she remembers the time of Apocalypse. She was young then and didn't remember much but she couldn't forget the alarms and city-wide warnings that she heard almost every day.

"Yes."

Suzaku waits for more but Ava simply changes the subject.

"How about I teach you some basics about will?"

Suzaku's eyes widen and he nods.

"Yes please!"

Ava smiles as she manages to divert the topic. She really didn't want to talk about Apocalypse.

"Good!"

The two start to get pumped up but they hear a harsh voice hush them.

"SHHHHHHH! It doesn't mean it's night and there's no one here, you can go all noisy."

Ava stifles her laughter and replies.

"Sorry Ms. Garsonan, it won't happen again!"

Once the peaceful silence returns, Ava returns her attention to Suzaku.

"Will is a bit complicated. I'm sure sir Ivor will tell you the mechanics of it tomorrow but I'll show you what it can do."

The duo spends the whole night talking about will, history, and about each other.

----------------------------------------

Inside Giles's home, there is a majestic wolf that is sleeping on the couch. Its white fur seemed to brightly glow in the dark. Its closed eyes suddenly open as it senses an individual enter its territory.

Fen starts to release a powerful aura of will around him. Fen growls and he scares the person walking in the house. The intruder shouts in surprise.

"Woah!"

Giles falls to the ground, surprised by Fen's powerful aura. Fen's aura quickly dissipates as he notices the intruder.

"Oh Giles, it's you. I'll never get used to your presence... It's so unnatural."

Giles frowns. He stands up and dusts himself.

"What do you mean unnatural?? Tsk, don't be too aggressive. You're literally living off my salary. I can kick you out any time."

Fen seems to chuckle. He knows for sure that Giles would never kick him out. Once relaxed, Fen smells the scent of dirt from Giles' clothes. He growls in disgust.

"You're dirty. What happened?"

Giles falls on the couch and sighs with satisfaction. Fen was waiting for an answer.

"Well, my students are better than I expected."

Fen yawns, revealing his massive mouth and sharp teeth. He nods to urge Giles to continue.

"They're very energetic and they tried to beat me."

Fen lies back down to the couch.

"Very brave. If they only knew who you are."

Giles chuckles.

"Lyo made sure my background is clean. No one, unless they're very thorough and has powerful connections, can find dirt about me."

Fen resumes his sleep but not before muttering.

"Whatever you say, Giles."

Giles smiles at the nonchalance of his noble companion.

"It won't happen. Nobody's even interested in me"

----------------------------------------

"Do you think Professor Ivor is hiding something?"

Ava immediately nods to affirm Suzaku's question.

After a brief demonstration of how to use will, Suzaku became mesmerized by Ava. Since Ava was the first one to show him something about this world, Suzaku is a bit biased towards her, so he quickly believes her claim about Giles.

"How will you find out then ms. Ava?"

"With your help!"

"With my help?"

Suzaku seems to be confused. How could he possibly help?

"Also with my thorough searching and powerful connections."

Suzaku heaves a sigh of relief. It seems ms. Ava isn't fully relying on him. It would be dumb to rely on him.

But I'll be reliable... One day.

"Suzaku, you're a bright kid. I have high expectations for you."

"Thanks, ms. Ava."

"You quickly understood how to use will. You just need practice and time to use it."

Suzaku nods, fully understanding the applications of it, despite Ava's lack of teaching skills.

Maybe sir Ivor can teach me more about it tomorrow.

"So will you be leaving now ms. Ava?"

Ava nods.

"Yeah, I'll be going. Take care Suzaku. Don't stay too long."

Ava leaves Suzaku as he waves her goodbye. Suzaku seems to smile to himself as he remembers a detail after the will demonstration.

She was beautiful.

----------------------------------------

"Utter disintegration huh... No splattered organs or blood anywhere."

An armored individual was squatting near the floor, observing the area. He looked at his partner to see his reaction.

"Yeah, look at the road. The effects of disintegration hit it too."

Both of them were currently on an empty road. They were in the area where Giles erased the mierfuen. The squatting individual stands up. He calls out to his partner.

"Did anyone see who it was?"

The partner replies to the leader of the duo.

"A woman that I interviewed said she was saved by a student."

The leader nods, a bit surprised.

"A student? How could a student defeat a beast? Even if it was a wolf-level beast,"

The partner quickly replies.

"A student of the Calloren academy."

A quiet pause enters between the two individuals. The leader shakes his head.

"That's possible... But very unlikely, especially if they were the first year. And even if they were seniors, they shouldn't be able to disintegrate the area unless they have a powerful gift."

The partner nods.

"I think it's very unlikely too so we must investigate the possible source of it."

The leader checks his schedule.

"Agreed. Tomorrow, let's check the Calloren academy for this strong individual."

The partner nods again.

"Agreed."

After doing a final check of the area, the two quickly disappear and leaves no trace that they were there.
