Chapter 6: Blue screens

Chapter 6: Blue screens

As Mira chewed on a couple of the snake-worms she sighed and thought to herself, [how did I end up in this situation? First there was the (probably) attack on the queen then the blue screens and now here I am on an unknown planet in a completely different universe eating what looks to be overgrown worms.]

[wait…what happened to the blue screens?] she hadn’t thought much of them at the time but now that she was she could feel a faint presence in the back of her mind, trying to pull it to the forefront she was bombarded by blue screens.

after a few seconds of confusion she realized something, [this is the same screen as before!] reading through it she became more and more confused as to what it all means, she got a vague sense of what each 'stat' means when she looked at it but when she came to [Attribute points] she felt as if she could do...something with it. looking at her dexterity she focused on it for a moment before it ticked up a point, and she felt a change so small she might have missed it occurred and her movements got ever so slightly smoother.

[…]

[did this thing just make me more...dexterous!? how! I didn't feel anything but I know for fact it just got easier to move with more precision! how is tat possible!] after a few moments of flailing followed by slow precise movements to each limb she finally sighed and collapsed on the floor.

[change of plans rebuild the swarm and figure out what the blue screens are. I guess there's no point trying to out logic the logic of this world. but if these stats work like I think they do...] she quickly focused on dexterity as it was quit low and added two more points, sure enough she felt here movements grow imperceptibly smoother.

[ … I could get used to this.] she said as she continued her march through the forest.

Eagen was exhausted!

they have been walking through the woods for the better part of a day after finding nothing in the cavern. well not nothing there was a distinct dip in mana though it lessened as they went deeper when they reached a large opening they thought they had actually found something, but no all they found was some weird rotten slag and the smell of rot. no monsters not a single one, usually that would be a good thing but no monsters in what they had assumed to be a dungeon only made the entire trip more nerve racking as Jackson jumped at every little sound.

[honestly it would have been better if a monster attacked us.] Eagen grumbled to himself as they trudged through the trees. he was beginning to regret not following the one monster they saw this whole time, it had been a good call at the time and monsters don't wander too far from their home dungeon but when they went up it was gone. he couldn't get the picture of it throwing a rock and running away out of his head, it's not like monsters can't run away they they just don't and the ones that do only do that to lay traps but no this one just ran.

[I still can't decide whether a monster showing fear is a good thing or a bad thing]

"I'm telling you something off about that place, it was like the whole place had been bathed in magic" Jackson argued with Markus since Eagen had resorted to simply ignoring him.

"who would have guessed the place that had a huge pulse of mana feels like it had a huge pulse of mana." Markus shot back as they walked through the trees.

"I may not be the best when it comes to dungeoneering but I know what mana should feel like and that was not normal." said with a surprising amount of intensity.

Eagen paused for a moment before turning to Jackson, "what do you mean?".

"pure mana doesn't have a will or aspect controlling it it moves like currents in the ocean chaotic and not all at once"

"but that didn't?"

"no! the whole place felt...tainted like something tried to enforce it's will on the mana but didn't have a clear picture of what is was doing"

Eagen was silent for a moment contemplating.

"are you sure."

"as sure as I can be." Jackson replied.

"well well have to report this as soon as possible, i have no idea what it is but it can't be good."

Eagen sighed as his day just kept getting worse.
