Levi’s body wobbled as blood sloshed inside his mouth before seeping through his lips. Samuel’s mouth displayed his golden teeth. A grin etched on Samuel’s face.

“You bastard!” Levi throws a straight punch.

Levi leaps into the air, swinging his leg. Samuel’s palm wrapped around his foot.

Crack!

Levi’s mouth opens to scream, but Samuel quickly covers it with his palm.

“Shhh, we don’t want any spectators, do we?” Samuel slammed Levi’s head to the asphalt ground.

Levi’s eyes widened as Samuel’s hand shot out toward Levi’s right eye.

Eli’s eyes widened at Levi going [Feverishness Mode].

What the hell?! Why’s Levi using that?! Don’t tell me… he went out fighting?!

“Guys! I think Levi is in danger! He’s been out for too long! It’s getting late,” Eli quickly stands up as his heart pounds.

“You’re right, Eli!” Jules stands, helping Gwyneth up.

“Jules, call him; maybe he picks up,” Gwyneth suggested.

Jules takes out their phone and dials their brother.

“No luck! He’s not picking up! Let’s split up,” Jules plunged their phone back into their pockets.

Eli and Gwyneth nodded, splitting up. Eli walked through the alleyways but saw nothing.

Shit! Where did you go, Levi?!

Eli’s phone started to ring. It was Jules.

“Yes, did you find him?!” Eli’s pants as he swiped sweat from his forehead.

“Come to 44 A-District Street,” Jules’ voice wavered.

Eli hung up and ran to the street. As he arrived, he saw trails of blood marked across the ground. His eyes widened, and his stomach churned at the sight. He quickly turns away and retches.

In the middle of the alleyway stood an eyeball. Eli finally makes contact with the eye. He wiped his mouth. The iris was gray. Levi’s hair tie lied in the middle, painted with blood.

Jules drops onto their knees, sobbing. Eli’s stomach churns, and he clenches his fists. He starts slamming his fist into the asphalt concrete. The sound of bone hitting asphalt echoed in the alleyway.

Eli squints his eyes as tears drop.

I’m too fucking weak! What kind of leader am I?! Jules lost his damn brother! I couldn’t protect or do anything!

“Go comfort, Jules. He needs it,” Eli wipes his tears.

Levi’s eyes fluttered open as he looked around. It was dark.

Levi: where am I?!

He tried to move, but the metal chains restricted his movements.

Levi: it’s so blurry…

Samuel sat across from Levi, crossing his legs.

“Well, well, well, Levi. You should be grateful that we wrapped your eye,” Samuel snickered as Samuel stood, caressing Levi’s cheek.

Levi jerked his face back.

“You should’ve stayed quiet, Levi. You could’ve been living peacefully with Jules, but noooo! You wanted to team up with Eli, huh? Look where did that lead you to, hm?” Samuel’s lips curled into a grin, and his gold teeth shimmered from the dim light.

“You have such a good body, Levi. You know. We wanted Jack as our test subject, but you’ll do,” Samuel went behind Levi’s chair, squeezing Levi’s shoulders.

“Test subject?” Levi’s eyes widened.

“Yes, we want to create the Perfect Body. You should be sufficient with your Copy technique,” Samuel went in front of Levi’s chair, pulling Levi’s shirt up and revealing his midriff.

“You may not be training, but your body says otherwise,” Samuel suddenly kicked Levi’s midsection.

Levi coughed as the chair fell backward. The chains rattled and shined under the dim lightbulb.

“Goodnight~” Samuel stuck out his tongue before kicking Levi’s chin.

[Few Hours Later]

It was raining outside, and the apartment was quiet. Eli was sitting, his eyes emotionless. He reminisced about the past. He looks at Jules, snuggled with Gwyneth. Jules’ hair sprawled out, their eyes puffy from crying.

Poor Jules. That was his brother. He never really told me about his past or why they’re a runaway.

Eli stands up, sauntering over to the door.

“E-Eli? Where you’re going?” Jules answered, their voice emotionless.

“Jules, stay put. I have to do something. Don’t call me or text me. Don’t go to school if you wish,” Eli’s voice wavered.

“Promise me that you’ll come back, Eli, I can’t lose another one!” Jules clenched his fists.

Eli nodded before turning the knob, leaving Jules and Gwyneth alone.

He turned his head one last time.

“Use your brother’s savings for rent. Here, take my last bit of money,” Eli went to his backpack, grabbed $100, handing it to Jules.

He walked back to the door, closing it softly. The rain pelts his skin and soaking his clothes. He walked through the A-District, his feet dragging through the puddles.

“Heh, take a look at this fucker. Did your girlfriend dump you?” A group of students circled around Eli.

“I’m not in the mood.”
