Screens. So many screens. Well not too many realistically, but enough to remind me why I had turned off constant updates about progress as getting this many every time you did anything was asking to go insane. Well time to sort through them at least, then time to grab breakfast and get to work on my next mana gem.
Phoenix immolation Skill Improvement: 17.2% Total skill rank improvement rate: 21.3%
Apostles smoke Skill Improvement: 63.8% Total skill rank improvement rate: 84.71%
Oh wow, I guess I used that one heavily both in the fight and while training, its annoying I had this off and can’t tell how much the fight helped with it, but it might be worth focusing on how that skill works and trying to manually practice it to see if I can push it over the edge to rank up soon.
Camping Skill Improvement: 0.78% Total skill rank improvement rate: 78%
Mend Skill Improvement: 0.12% Total skill rank improvement rate: 0.15%
Damn, I knew rank two skills took a lot more to improve and it only got harder as time went on, particularly for general skills, but that rate of growth for mend straight up sucked. Not that it was bad at its current rank, it just would have been nice to be able to get closer to my first rank three skill. When most people only get a handful of skills to rank three or four ever outside of combat classes I am definitely being greedy, but who wouldn’t.
Bloodline development: Mutation change increased 2% > 2.1%
Oh, that wasn’t expected, but I guess if it's related to my class I had been almost constantly soaking myself in my mana so it wasn’t too surprising.
Deciding I couldn’t do much beyond get on with my day, keep hoping the hunters would come by more often like yesterday to improve my skills, and hopefully get to get out and fight some more.
Quickly the next week blew by repeating the same pattern, it became a comfort knowing again what the next day would bring. Wake up, tidy the cave, eat breakfast and heal any hunters going out for the day, work on mana gem until lunch, heal returning hunters and continue on mana gem until dinner. After dinner I had taken to healing any workers or hunters I hadn’t seen that day who were interested as well, eventually gaining me two skill upgrades for the week.
----------------------------------------
Skill upgrade: Apostles smoke Rank 1 > Rank 2. Skill changes: More smoke is stored in the body, and can be consumed at a reduced rate to restore mana pool levels (one unit of mana gained per three smoke consumed)
Skill upgrade: Phoenix immolation Rank 1 > Rank 2 Skill changes: Base cost lowered to 7 mana. Skill can now regrow small amounts of bone at an increased variable cost.
The Apostles smoke change finally updated my status to show my new resource as well, smoke, which sounded a lot worse for my health then it was. Otherwise needing bone present to heal being somewhat loosened is a huge improvement for my healing skill, the less restrictive healing skills are the higher rated they usually become, so this looks good for the chance of it becoming quite powerful one day.

“Hey lass, Styx, ya awake yet? Town meeting has been called, at the kitchen space as soon as everyone is there. I am off to find some of the early risers who have left camp already” Lars sudden yelling startled me straight out of bed, once I calmed down and realised this meant something big, but likely not an emergency, had popped up. Wondering what it was I quickly dressed and threw my boots on as I started jogging down to the kitchen space.
As I arrived Lars was leading a few hunters I occasionally saw on my morning jogs who were usually up very early, so I must have been one of the last to arrive. This was quickly confirmed as Mircha started to speak.
“It looks like you are all here, thank you for rushing by this morning, we have good news but I do hope I don’t have to remind anyone we are in a marathon not a sprint so please let me finish speaking before anyone decides to take any action” Quickly hushed concerns were spread around the small group, wondering what had happened to make our jovial overseer so serious.
“Firstly the good news, then the boring administration that comes with it. One of our hunters has found the dungeon mentioned by the last group who tried to make a settlement here. That dungeon is mostly why they failed as they brought almost purely combat classes, so they had no long term plans and the system treated them accordingly. I will get into the details on how we will organise things, but this is a naturally formed dungeon so it won’t vanish on us anytime soon. Do not rush to access it, we will make sure everyone who can make use of it gets a turn based on how much your rewards will help our settlement for this first year”
“Now, we have the prompt from the hunters that has been shared to me and I am about to ask Sven to share the system window with everyone here. So as you are about to see this is a vision dungeon, so it will tailor the challenge to your class, it still carries risk but it means it's quite valuable for crafting focused classes to challenge it which we are going to recommend. I will let everyone know tomorrow when their slot is if they want to run the dungeon, it is a solo run so it's going to take a while for even a group as small as ours to get everyone through. There will be no trading of slots, now let me know if you have questions otherwise I will leave everyone to break their fast and get on with today's gossip, or work as I hear Sven tries to call it” Chuckling to himself Mircha took a seat, and taking his own advice began eating the rice and vegetables that were today's meal of choice.
“Here you all go, accept the prompt and read over the dungeon details. The guard will be taking control of taking people to the dungeon and ensuring the settlement runs smoothly while you're away from task as needed. Let me know if you have any issues accepting that share” As he spoke Sven also settled down to eat, and before I could consider doing the same I had the prompt show up.
Sven - Bloodless Hunter wants to share the system window for “Two River forest dungeon(solo)” with you. Accept?
Quickly grabbing a plate of food and sitting down I agreed to start reading, hopefully I would get to be one of the early runners for the dungeon or at least be there to heal people as they exit.
Dungeon Name: Two river forest cave Type: Vision (Solo) Details: Low grade vision dungeon. Challenger is presented with a dungeon instance based on their class. This may be combat, utility, or crafting based. Early exit penalty is 31 days. Can only be completed once every 10 days. Rewards are based on difficulty of challenge and completion rate. Reward pool: Skill upgrades, items, resources, refinement tools, tomes. Total complete rate: Once completed information will be visible regarding upgrade of dungeon.
While these rewards and the tier weren’t amazing, the dungeon nearest to my own home village been considered mid tier as it granted skill cards and cores, however being a vision it meant it would be tailored to the person entering making it infinitely more useful for a smaller settlement like ours with no real trade capacity yet.
Wondering what kind of challenge I would get, maybe healing a room full of injured people, or a combat challenge would be interesting, I didn’t even notice Usk sit down next to me. “So, not sure if you figured it out or not, but this could be risky for those with combat focused classes rather than just hunting or combat focused general cards. From the notes Mircha was given by the overseer guild when he took on this location we know it has time compression, so people should be in and out fairly fast, but that it might not fully heal everyone on the way out or on an early exit. So we are going to have to set you up next to the dungeon during the early runs until we get some confidence with an alternative set up. Us guard all have low tier triage healing skills as general skills, so we can swap out when needed to. Are you right if I come grab you in around an hour to go get set up before the first runs?”
“No problem, I don’t have much that was planned for today so I can go whenever, I just want to bring a few things like some bedding in case it's needed for a serious injury” as we spoke I finished up my meal, and realising I was in for a busy few days, quickly made my way to my cave to pack a bag of useful items.
