The small town

The small town

Damien approached the village.

He saw that most buildings were made of dark oak. The resources came from the large forest next to the village. The village had beautifully constructed houses. It's nothing like the fantasy 'dwarf' homes Damien imagined. But rather, most of them looked strangely modern-like.

There is a small cobblestone path, leading from one ally of the village, to the next. Damien thought.

"This... doesn't seem like a village. It looks like a damn town."

He carefully set foot over the cobblestone pathways. Children from all races alike sprinted across him. One child had light green skin and smudged ears. Probably a Goblin. While the other young one, had long pointy ears, with short blonde hair. They lightly laughed and giggled.

"Tag, you're it!"

He slowly continued, as he adored the cuteness of the children. But two seconds after, Damien felt a tremor near his right leg. That same little elf girl who just sprinted across from Damien bumped into him. She wore a long white dress, with a few mud stains patched in between. The child immediately apologized.

"S-Sorry sir."

Damien lightly smiled and replied, with his two palms touching his hips.

"Oh. It's okay. It wasn't your fault."

Damien slowly rubbed the adorable elf-girl child on the head and smiled greatly. He leaned to her and whispered with a bright tone in his voice.

"Now, go on and catch him!"

The little elf girl nodded, and loudly giggled whilst sprinting through the small openings, in-between the houses.

"Okay, stranger!"

She quickly sprinted away from him, but just after, the elf girl slowly turned her head back to Damien and waved.

"Goodbye!"

After that, the sight of the little elf girl vanished within the shaded opening. Her light giggles echoed within the walls. Damien couldn't resist being overjoyed by the elf girl's cuteness.

"Already, I feel like I belong here! That elf girl is super cute!"

He shut his eyes and lightly danced with a large smile on his face. Happily frolicking his legs back and forth, whilst running on through the busy cobblestone path. As he slowly exits through the many busy streets, Damien saw a tall stone wall, surrounding the entirety of the village.

The walls are imposed with strong ropes attached to the stone anchors and the wall itself is made of extremely robust stone bricks. Damien yelled as he stopped to gaze at the enormous wall.

"What the- a wall? This is definitely not a small village! Wait, are there people on top of the wall?"

Damien saw tall archer men standing on top of the walls. They wore long white cloaks, that stretched down to their ankles. Damien noticed that they too also had pointy ears. Both the archers grasped on a long purple-stained bow. He screamed to the archers.

"You guys look awesome!"

The archers didn't respond. Rather; they sneered at him.

"Props to the defense force of this village!"

Not a single archer turned back to him, and instead, they all ignored him. The archers thought he was some sort of lunatic, wandering around their hometown. But luckily, they didn't consider him a threat.

Damien doesn't yet have a real purpose for his new life, he was gifted. He wanted at least to explore the world or at least suddenly have the knowledge of the world that appears in his memory, but of course, magic didn't work that way in this world. He walked slowly through the town yet again. Forwarding himself to the busier side of the 'village'.

Animal hybrids are walking over the cobblestone streets; greeting each other kindly. Damien is afraid of those beasts. He tried to hide his reaction so he wouldn't offend them.

But while trying to avoid looking at them, Damien leaned right to see another hybrid. The hybrid has a lizard-shaped head and seemed muscular with those squamous muscles. He has a scar on his left eye. Proposing to him that he seems fiercer than he really is. The lizard slowly turned its head towards Damien. Revealing his threatening yellow eye.

Damien felt a chill going up against his spine. He didn't want to face any problems. Especially if he's been summoned here on the first day. The lizard interrogated him in a calm tone.

"Foreigner, you seemed lost. May I give you a hand...?"

He couldn't take it anymore. It seemed so strange to him that an animal head was tied to an almost human body. While the reptile was waiting for his answer, Damien quickly shook his head and ran away from the reptile. The hybrid's eyes seemed threatening to him.

Damien doesn't want to cause trouble in his new life. He wanted to make his new life to be safe and happy. There were a lot of hybrids. Right and left. Behind the little huts and the markets. He muttered.

"T-This has to be the market hub or something?."

While running among the big, busy crowds, he thought.

"Hybrids are in this world, too?"

He quickly ran into the market and heard shouts.

"Hey, do you want to buy this clean pot I found in the lake?"

He quickly covered his ears, while a female voice screamed moments after.

"Hey!"

Damien turned his head to the place where the voice came from, and saw a pink alligator hybrid, carrying a pair of scissors.

"Hey, do you want to sell your hair?! White hair is a specialty in Gincad!"

Damien shook his head slowly and ran faster into the crowd. Push and push, try to avoid the absurd amount of publicity. But then he saw a large circular paved stone floor. With five large markets, surrounding the giant pine that was located at the center of the paved stone floor. Damien whispered as he struggled to keep breathing.

"So this has to be the market block, huh?"

The same pink alligator hybrid screamed at Damien, whilst carrying scissors.

"Please! Just..."

Damien screamed at the hybrid at the top of his lungs.

"Nope."

Damien decided it was better to enter the big market on his right. It has a large sign painted in green that reads the words, "Food and Goods" aligned to the center of the bark. Damien thought.

"You know, if I'm going to be this hero in the world, I should first buy food. I don't want to starve to death, trying to hunt."

The walls of the supermarket are both dark oak and birch. With a few glass windows attached to the right side of the entrance. Damien crossed the innumerable aisles of the tables extending from left to right.

There were no shelves, just tables. Like an "outdoor" market. He did not recognize any of the objects that were placed on the table. Although he noticed the signs that were attached with the strange items. The hardwood signs are written in his tongue from Earth.

He whispered as he saw the price labels and the signs.

"At least my language is still in this world. It makes things so much easier for me."

Damien looked at a box of carrots that is near the price sign. His eyes passed through the group of large yellow carrots. Damien slowly grasped onto one of them, and saw its yellow surface, shining from the bright ceiling lights hovering over the store. He murmured as he turned the strange carrot around.

"Yellow carrots? They don't exist in my previous world? How much does it cost?"

Damien looked at the price on the box. The gold shimmer of the price tag reveals a currency with which he was not familiar, Prict coins. Damien once again spoke out loud.

"Wow, this coin has... a strange name, but, HOLY, five thousand Prict coins?! Who the hell would sell these yellow carrots for so much?! Did the economy crash so hard in this world, that the seller had to do this?! Or maybe... it was a misunderstanding and the Prict coins arrive in dozens?! No-no-no. No human would sell a single box of yellow carrots for five thousand, whatever the whos!"

Damien repositioned the yellow carrot back into the wooden box of the yellow carrot group. He crossed the same alley and stumbled on the table which had a large box of juicy red apples to be sold.

"Well, at least there is some normal food in this world. Food that I recognize."

Damien leaned forward to the box of apples. His eyes tilted to the right, where the price label is located. The sign reads fourteen Prict coins. He yelled out loud.

"What? Why are these fourteen coins, and the other is five thousand?! Is this some kind of scam? Well, it's not bad for an apple box, unlike the box of yellow carrots that were like five thousand Prict coins."

He checked the pockets to see if he'd brought his wallet with him. Damien formed an idea, whilst rubbing his fingers against the fabric of the wallet.

"Maybe I'll get some kind of starter package and get a hundred thousand Prict coins so that I can start my life in this fantasy world right! I think."

He pulled out a black leather wallet. But then he found it heavier than he once remembered.

"Holy hell, I'm right! But wait, this could be a complicated spell and it actually might be a bomb. I may have to leave the village to see if it's a currency or a troll."

Some of the villagers looked at Damien and became suspicious of him. A random man yelled out.

"This foreigner is a demolitionist!"

Damien, quickly sprinted away from the market, as the crowd yelled at him. Damien ran down the dirt road leading to the exit of the village. He took the left pathway instead of the right when he approached the paved stone.

"No! I'm not! I'm just an ordinary..."

"Get out fiend!"

* * * *

He ran outside of the gate and towards the grass meadow just outside the village. He breathed heavily, whilst grabbing onto the wallet. Damien stood near the open grass meadow, while he grabbed his wallet. He muttered.

"This looks like a safe place to test out what is inside my wallet. Please be coins, please be coins, please be coins".

He quickly slammed his wallet to the ground and waited.

It didn't leave a bump on the floor. It didn't leave anything but a shimmer of light that widened his size. It certainly wasn't what he thought it would be. Damien's glittering grey eyes, pierced through the luminance. Slowly approaching it, to touch the ever-increasing light. He muttered slowly.

"What the..."

He slowly walked away from the wallet. He knew he didn't have anything inside his wallet. The light gradually became brighter, yet brighter. And then his eyes were blinded. Damien stopped. He couldn't move a single muscle, he couldn't move his legs to escape. He couldn't move his head to see the brightness of the light. He could not move anything in his body.

He is paralyzed. Without knowing what to do, he panicked in his head, wondering what's going to happen.

"Will this be my death? Will... will this be my end? Or is there any luck waiting for me after the light falls? Maybe, I will get warped to that woman that I'm supposed to bang right now? The one who helps me along the way, while lending their affection towards me."

Damien doesn't know, and he didn't care about this light. As long as he's alive, he can be happy. A voice filled in his mind, later. A familiar voice belonging to a woman. The voice he heard when he was on earth.

"You... must be the one... It must be you. You must be the one. You are mine. Why are you not near my kingdom?"

Right after her sentence, another unfamiliar voice interrupts the feminine voice. It matched the sound of a profound male voice. "Damien, you have to meet someone when you get out of this phase."

Damien interrupted the voice.

"I'm going to..."

The voice interrupted him immediately.

"You must speak to that woman if you want to be considered a hero and save this universe. Don't go directly for love, Damien. It wouldn't work out, especially if it's in the likes of her.

Damien yelled out to the voice, whilst standing on the white void. Ignoring the voice's demands.

"Hey! Are you the one that placed whatever the hell is in this wallet? It's certainly not currency!"

The voice responded.

"That is at the very best of our least concern."

Damien didn't know whose voice that was. The voice sounded deep and mystical. Sounds like an adult is talking to him. It sounded like a god or a strong being. But all Damien was worried about is his ability to move.

"Hey, finally I can move my mouth."

Damien straightened out his voice and tried to speak with the voice that spoke in his mind.

"Listen, whoever you are. I just wanna know why you summoned me here? What's the point of coming here in the first place? I'm just all alone by myself with no one to talk to."

The female voice disrupts Damien.

"I'm just doing this to meet you, and end up making you love me. Because your look charms me. I finally summoned you here while you were sleeping. I was right next to you, holding against your arm. I... I wish... I was right there..."

The voice didn't belong to the deeper masculine voice that Damien heard just recently. It was the voice of a woman. He didn't know what this answer even meant, from her.

"Could it be? Hey! Are you the one who summoned me?"

There was no reply, instead, there's only a blinding light, shining straight on his face. Damien may move, but he doesn't know where to go. It's just a white void for him.

But soon, the light vanishes.
