Talon was fine with blood on his hands. It didn’t bother him one bit if he was protecting the person he cared about most in the world. He could kill easily if it meant keeping Olivia safe and happy. He could do much worse than kill, if needed. That was a perk of being a self-aware psychopath.
It had taken a few weeks to get everything cleaned up from that night. Olivia didn’t ask prying questions, just if things had been taken care of or if she needed to worry about anything. He didn’t deserve someone as understanding as her, yet, so far she had decided to stay with him, even after That Night.
That made Talon very happy. Now, he didn’t have to worry about hunting her down again or keeping her locked in the basement.
In this respect, the guys had done him a favor. Trauma bonding was a real and serious thing…and now Olivia thought of him as her savior. It was the truth, ignoring the fact that he had put her in danger in the first place.
Olivia hadn’t wanted to stay in his old house, so they had moved into a new one together before the fall semester had started. It needed some work, but Talon was more concerned with getting a new, safe place for Olivia to sleep than anything else. She hadn’t been able to sleep well ever since his old house was broken into.
He had failed her. Sometimes, he could still see in his mind how the situation could’ve gone another way, with Bait aiming his gun toward Olivia instead of him, or Marky knocking him out before he could break out of the chair. It could have been Talon and Olivia at the bottom of the river instead of Marky, Jefe, and Bait.

No. It didn’t happen that way. No one will ever tie her up ever again, he thought, unless it’s me. And only if she wants me to…or if she runs away.
But running away was going to be tough for Olivia, starting in the next few months. She’d never gotten her birth control shot. If she forgot or purposefully didn’t mention it, it didn’t matter to Talon, because he could see whether or not she made any appointments to get one. So far she hadn’t. If things went according to plan, he’d get her pregnant soon.
Having a child with her would not only bring them closer together, but it would also make it harder for her to leave him. And if he was the perfect partner and the perfect dad, she wouldn’t ever want to leave him anyway, right?
“Mmm,” Olivia moaned. Talon kissed her thigh, then licked her sweet juices off his lips. All he had to do was keep her happy, satisfied, and safe. She never had to learn about any of the unpleasant details, including how black his soul really was. It was better for Olivia to continue to think of him as her savior. Her hero.
Talon climbed on top of Olivia and pushed into her, planning all the ways he was going to fuck her tonight…tomorrow night…every night until their bodies were too old. Even then, he’d find a way to please her. He would never stop loving her. Never. Olivia was his.
His.
Forever.
