Chapter 5: A Fragment of Karlimea - Part 2: The Queen

Following the sounds of the arrival, they all looked towards the place she came from.

It was a tall lady with a beatuful pair of captivating golden eyes, she was being followed by a group of guards. Her footsteps were followed by a majestic aura of elegance and dominance with the guards following. The garments she wore accentuated her gracefulness as a long tail of cloth slided through the floor.

She had a similar air as the two little girls, but a more developed body which was displayed by the marvelous dress she wore. The dress had the markings of dragons and patterns like tribals. It also highlighted the glowing tattoos on her visible skin.

Three silver horns, two which looked as tree ramifications, raised from her fronto-parietal bones. They followed a small curvature downwards, as if floating above her hair in a tangencial manner.

They were adorned with shiny jewelry and little chains. Bluish tattoos could be seen around each horn with some glowy light.

There was another horn on the back of her head. It was bigger than the ones on the twins. It made you want to ask 'How can she sleep having that horn behing the head?'

That horn was actually whole silver and looked more elastic than solid, giving people the feeling of wanting to touch it. It was covered with some type of silk with some special patterns giving a sense of royalty.

“Darling you should stop that. It was I who taught her…" the woman made a small pointing movement with her right hand, singnaling herself.

She then raised her left hand to her lips and gave a little laugh, before challenging the man. " Hmm… so what will you do, now that you know, darling?

After she said that, the woman made a loud stamp with her foot. The action made the still following blue armored guards to stop at her behind, like unmoving statues.

The guards had a blue armor with silver tribal patterns. The armor was full body, and seemed to be the same for each guard, almost impossible to see if one guard was taller or smaller than the other. They looked like puppets made for protection.

“Meli how could you!?... all these years…. Wahhhh! ...my Veri!...Why!?" The man fell on his knees while throwing a tantrum like a little kid.

The guards surrounding the hall remained still, but everyone could be seen focusing on the womans every movement. It was almost visible that this was a matriarchal society.

At this moment, an old man wearing white robes arrived at a fast pace with two guards behind him.

Different from the others, the man's skin color was grayish brown and he had purple hair. It seemed that the blue color was a trait of bloodlines or royalty. Probably, the guards had many different features inside that silverly blue armor.

This man that arrived focused his red eyes at the queen. He smiled after seeing the King raising up with regained decorum.

“Her Majesty, Queen Melit! His Majesty, King Gerlo!... We found it!” Exclaimed the old man while giving a royal salute.

“Merrick…. Is it the real thing?” questioned The Queen with a surprised expression.

“You found it?!” asked Gerlo.

“Father, why do you repeat the same thing he said, such a silly question.” said Verisa.

“Stop bullying your father Verisa, this is a serious matter." Reprimanded the queen while looking at the old man that wasn’t answering. Recognizing the body language suggestion, she then ordered.

"Merick lets go to the Isolated chambers, so that we can talk with ease.”

Merick gave a little smirk after he heard that. The Queen then advanced towards the twins with a caring attitude.

"Little girls your father and I have things to do today. I have to cancel our plans for the moment." The queen hugged both girls and said affectionately.

"Dont worry mother, another day we can go and visit grandpa together!" Solfe smiled at her mother as she rubbed her hair. Her smile was magical, filled with innocence and energy.

"Mother..." Verisa looked down, she didn't know how to express herself in such moments.

"What is it my little girl? Are you feeling bad because I won't go today and see your little sandbox?" The queen ruffled Verisa's hair the same way as she did to Solfe.

Verisa nodded at the question. But she didn't say anything, as she felt somewhat embarrased at her mother's care.

The king looked at such affectionate event with jealousy... You could see him trying and waiting to give a double hug, but the girls evaded it. Both twins hugged their mother strongly everytime the father tried to approach.

"Darling you are scaring them... You should know some self composure." The Queen said to her husband.

"Girls, let your father hug you... Come lets get a big family hug." The Queen smiled and let the King approach.

A second passed and she muttered. "Ok enough. Let's go and discuss the situation."

The King felt a second was not enough, but seeing the queen go away and the twins distancing themselves... He surrendered, as he had no other option but to follow.

The Trio and the guards moved outside the hall in an orderly manner. The two little girls stayed behind in the now silent hall.

----------------------------------------

The whole castle had a very interesting structure inside. Some of the bridges connected to what seemed to be smooth mirror made towers.  Those on the exterior had a special property like polarized glass, which allowed you to see at the magnificent architecture.

The trip was breathtaking, similar to when you climb the stairs on the eiffel tower and look towards the ground. Although the colors of plants and the sky in this world were different, it still gave a beautiful landscape. Such beauty accentuated the curved bridges and walls of the edifications.

The whole trip ended after reaching a secluded room designated for secrecy and planning. The guards stayed in arranged positions, surrounding the spherical chamber.

Inside the room torches of blue fire were lit as the doors opened. The strangely shaped walls and glowy symbols gave a sense of modern office.

There were white silvery crystals on the walls. These crystals were special, because they made it possible to look at everything outside 360 degrees. Except for some blind spots near the symbols and their juctions. It was a different material from those on the bridges described above.

Three people entered the room. The Queen took the center seat of a table, while the King and Merrick sat by each side.

The Queen made a quick gesture followed by an incantation. This turned on a little barrel or cylindrical structure that supported part of a noveau artist table. This thing left an impression of a plane turbine growing at the middle of the table. In a little corner, it had the markings 'Made by Ludi' in a different language.

The hole on the center of the cylinder lit up, giving a warm yellow glow.  The whole room turned darker, and a huge tridimensional figure of a colorful map appeared.

The map wasn't perfect, there were spots that didn't have anything, like unexplored areas in games. The details were also superficial whn withyou zoomed unknown placed some little additional notes. Still, it was a very useful tool.

The trio stood from the seats and arrived near the map. The queen made a gesture at Merrick, who started to explain the current situation.

"Your majesties, there is a huge possibility that the fragment is at this place." Merrick adjusted the map and a bigger image of the olsce appeared. There was a side description available.

"The Blomoran Reefs?" Asked King Gerlo.

"That's right my King. Our Magisters have found the entrance." Merrick affirmed.

"That's very far from us." The Queen expressed while frowning.

The Blomoran Reefs was an extremely dangerous place. It was a reef that wasn't surrounded by salt water.

Although you could find many colors and lifeforms of different types there, the Blomoran reefs where famous for corroding every land lifeform.

The other problem the Queen faced was the distance. The world they were in was a flat realm, as described by their most experienced explorers. Still, they haven't reached the ends of the realm.

In the cultural religion, there were more worlds outside of this. They had different shapes, like spheres or cubes.

Still, the current realm was inescapable. No mage has been able to crack the sky and leave. The realms void was too strong for them to leave.

The religious court stated they were in the middle of the realms. The realm of lesser lifeforms was below them. The lesser lifeforms were those that didn't live more than two centuries when comparing their time units.

Interestingly their high priest found a revelation of god. Karlimea will be the true victor of the war in the realm. They just needed two things, the realm's controlling subrealm and its key.

The thing that Merrick found, was no other than the entrance to such sub-realm. It was called in a special term, but for easing vocabulary, it will be mentioned as the realm's core.

"Merrick, what else did you find and what do you propose?" The queen asked directly with seriousness on her face.

"My majesty. The Medroska race and their kingdoms should be aware of the realm's core. They have spotted our team and sneak attacked. We were prepared and delivered them to the Realm's Cycle of Vita em Umbra." Merrick started giving the additional information. He made a pause before continuing.

"There were no casualties, but the enemy got enough time and released the message."

"The Medroska... Damn, those guys are always following our tails!" King Gerlo gripped his chair while exclaiming.

"The Blomoran Reefs are nearer to them, but worry not, their supply line is limited by the mountains on their side." Merrick started suggesting his strategy.

The queen scanned the map on the table. She then expressed. "That's a good idea Merrick, but then we will have to depart in a hurry. We need to secure a big line of defense... When is the next time the acidic pools lower their levels?"

"My Queen, it should happen in the next fifteen days. This is the letter that magister Kormagnoli wanted me to pass."

The queen took the letter of the magister. It was written with symbols that almost released fire. The language of this world was strange. It didn't need the same amount of words to write an essay. It was like a more advanced chinese or japanese character. The type that could express a complete essay with only one symbol. It was the Draconian or Acient Dragon Language.

One word contained multiple possibilities. An idiom moved the origins of mana. A phrase could destroy or create a world. At least, that was what the high priest expressed when blabbering about its origins.

The queen categorized and analized the information. That character alone had an amount of information similar to Earth's Diskettes. It might seem like not much, but in terms of language alone, this one seemed highly efficient.

"The information that the magister obtained is too valuable. Increase his rank and make him a leader figure for this campaign." The Queen gave an order to Merrick.

"Noted my Queen." Merrick scribed on a magical logbook he had and then gave his next suggestion.

The whole room became darker, as the cold planning taking place dimmed the visible light inside.
