Chapter 19: Bones and Bravery.

In the heart of The Forsaken Crypt, chaos reigned. A band of low-level adventurers, their faces etched with fear and determination, clashed against the crypt's formidable defenses. At the center of it all was Eddie 'Bones' Malone, using Big Guy as a shield, while launching bursts of fire at the intruders.

The ground shook as Big Guy, the towering Bone Giant, slammed his massive fist against the stone floor. The impact sent shockwaves through the crypt, rattling bones and causing the adventurers to stumble.

"Keep at 'em, Big Guy!" Eddie shouted, ducking behind the giant's massive frame. He extended his hand, fingers splayed, and unleashed a stream of fire sparks towards the nearest adventurer.

The skeletons, under Eddie's command, swarmed the intruders. Their movements were jerky yet effective, blocking escape routes and herding the adventurers closer to Big Guy's reach.

One of the adventurers, a young mage, attempted to cast a spell, but the words caught in his throat as a skeleton lunged at him. In the chaos, his spell misfired, sending a burst of light into the ceiling.

"Nice try, but you're in my house now!" Eddie taunted, reveling in the thrill of the battle. He sent another wave of fire towards a warrior who was desperately fending off two skeletons.

Argenti, watching from the sidelines, was ready to step in if needed. His eyes glowed with an eerie light, and his hands crackled with dark energy. For now, though, he was content to let Eddie and Big Guy handle the situation.

The battle reached its inevitable conclusion as the overwhelmed adventurers found themselves unable to withstand the onslaught. The relentless attacks from Eddie and his skeletal minions, coupled with the intimidating presence of Big Guy, proved too much for the inexperienced group.

Caught in a pincer between the bone-shaking blows of Big Guy and the relentless assault of the skeletons, the adventurers' resistance crumbled. They were quickly overrun, their desperate attempts to fight back falling short against the crypt's formidable defenses.

As the last of the adventurers succumbed to the crypt’s guardians, Eddie let out a triumphant laugh. "That's how we do it in The Forsaken Crypt!"

Argenti moved closer, his eyes reflecting the scepter's eerie glow. "Eddie… Is- that a magical item?”

Eddie nodded as he grasped the Lich's Legacy Scepter, feeling a connection to the ancient energies swirling within it. "With this, we’re really ramping up.”

As Eddie held the scepter, a sense of command flowed through him. He could feel the very essence of the crypt bending to his will, the skeletons responding to the surge of necromantic power.

"Time to test this baby out," Eddie said, a wicked grin spreading across his skeletal face. He raised the scepter, and the skeletons around him reacted instantly, their movements becoming more fluid, their forms more menacing.

Big Guy, silent as ever, seemed to stand taller, as if acknowledging the scepter's power.

As the dust settled in the aftermath of the skirmish, Eddie's skeletal minions began to gather the loot dropped by the defeated adventurers. The spoils were modest – a collection of E and F rank items, nothing particularly impressive, but valuable nonetheless for a growing dungeon like The Forsaken Crypt.

One by one, the skeletons laid out the items before Eddie and Argenti: a few battered swords, some worn leather armor pieces, a couple of simple potions, and a small pouch of coins.

Eddie chuckled as he sifted through the loot. "Well, it ain't exactly a treasure trove, but every bit helps, right? Looks like these raids are turning out to be quite the boon for us."

Argenti examined one of the swords, its blade nicked and dulled from use. "Indeed, Eddie. Every item can be repurposed or traded. It's all contributing to strengthening the crypt."

Eddie surveyed the items laid out before him, his mind already churning with ideas. He picked up the mage's robe and staff from the pile of loot and turned to one of the skeletons standing nearby.

"Hey, Spellbone, get over here," Eddie called out, beckoning to the skeleton. Spellbone, a skeleton Eddie had taken a liking to for its slightly more upright posture, clattered over.

"I've been trying to teach this guy some magic tricks. Who knows, maybe he's got a knack for it," Eddie said to Argenti with a smirk. He handed the robe and staff to Spellbone. "Here, try these on. Maybe they'll give you some magical inspiration."

Spellbone, with its usual silent compliance, donned the mage's robe, the garment hanging loosely over its bony frame. The staff, looking almost comical in its skeletal grip, completed the ensemble.

Eddie stepped back, eyeing his new apprentice. "Lookin' sharp, Spellbone! Now you just need to work on your spellcasting."

Argenti chuckled. "It's an interesting experiment, Eddie. Who knows, there might be some untapped magical potential in him."

Eddie then turned his attention to the rest of the loot. "Alright, rest of you boneheads, gear up! Let's put this stuff to good use." He started handing out the swords and armor pieces to the other skeletons, making sure each one was as well-equipped as possible.

The skeletons, in their silent, efficient manner, began to arm themselves with the newly acquired gear. Some were now brandishing swords, while others donned pieces of leather armor, giving them a more formidable appearance.

Unfortunately, there weren’t any ranged items to give his Skeleton Archers, Eddie made a mental note and decided to buy them something on his next shopping spree.

"Look at this, Argenti. We're upgrading the crew!" Eddie exclaimed, satisfaction evident in his voice. "Soon we'll have a proper skeletal army."

Argenti nodded in agreement. "Indeed, Eddie. With every raid, we grow stronger. The Forsaken Crypt is becoming a force to be reckoned with."

As Eddie surveyed his skeleton crew, now looking more formidable with their new gear, he turned his attention to enhancing The Forsaken Crypt. "Alright, Argenti, let's see what upgrades we can score with these credits."

Just as Eddie was about to delve into the dungeon core's shop interface, a sudden alert from the system caught him off guard.

[System Alert: Dungeon Raid in Progress! Intruders Detected at the Main Entrance.]

"Back-to-back raids? We're really on the map now!" Eddie exclaimed, a mixture of surprise and excitement in his voice.

Argenti stepped closer, his demeanor focused. "It seems your crypt is gaining quite the reputation, Eddie. This could be a more challenging group."

Eddie clutched the Lich's Legacy Scepter, feeling a surge of confidence. "Let 'em come. We're ready for 'em. Big Guy, Spellbone, to your positions!"
