The Invasion

The Invasion

I crawled amongst the pile of dead bodies. They surrounded me on the concreted slabs . As I kept moving forward I looked above. I saw three large galactic cruisers circling in the purple sky. Sharp and bright blue lights shot from the cruiser's missile turrets that covered the square hull. The cruisers were an exact square, big and painted and decorated in red and blue. As each bright light hit, a loud bang followed after the sounds of collapsing buildings and the screams of living people. Osara was being destroyed and invaded.

I kept crawling and crawling closer to what looked like a large grey and dirty pipe. I slide my thin and slender body under the pipe to make myself feel safer and to hide. I knew that nowhere was safe from the large galactic cruisers and their invading fleet. As I looked from underneath the pipe all I could see was piles of dead bodies or injured people screaming in pain. Every 10 seconds I still saw the reflection of the blue lights coming from the cruisers and the loud sound of buildings collapsing which followed seconds after.

“Crystal” I heard. I heard my name being shouted from somewhere. I couldn’t work out where the voice was coming from. The voice masculine and was deep.

I looked at my clothes that I was wearing. They were torn, dirty and were covered in blood stains. Some of the blood stains were from the bodies which I had to crawl over and some were from cuts and bruises that covered my body, from head to toe. I was wearing a dark blue zip up suit with a red flame decorated on the back. The uniform covered my entire body except my neck & head.

I was scared, and sweating in fear.

“Crystal” I heard my name again.

I felt the grip of someone’s hand on my shoulder. As I was about to reply I looked around.

 I saw and shouted ‘Das’.

I was relieved to see someone that I knew. And that they were alive.

Das was a short guy, he was also wearing a yellow uniform. A yellow and black zip up suit and  he had a tool belt attached around his waist.

“You’re alive’ Das spoke

Suddenly I heard heavy footsteps coming from the distance. Das shouted “We need to run”

I nodded and began to clamber out from behind the large pipe. I was speechless. Das ran forwards in front of me and I followed behind him with haste. We clambered past more dead bodies. I didn’t dare look behind me. All I was thinking was I must not look back and keep moving. I did not want to see those that were hunting me.

I just wanted to survive.

Das approached a small vent in the ground. He pulled it hard. As I ran closer to the vent he had already pulled the cover off and he started to climb inside.

“We need to climb in here” Das gasped as he started to use the metal ladder to climb down into the vent.

I followed quickly. I grabbed the ladder tightly and as I hauled myself into the vent all I could see from above was the rubble and the square cruisers floating in the sky. I could still hear the sound of screams and quick flashes of light from the cruiser's lasers.

As I climbed down the ladder I tugged the vent door so it closed behind me.

The ladder was cold and damp. I kept taking some steps down the ladder.

I held on tightly. It was dark and I could barely see.

I placed my right foot on the ground and was relieved. Dim lights started to appear from the tunnel. Das had turned on the emergency vent lights.

It was still dark, but at least I could see something. “Where are we?” I asked Das.

“The underground tunnels” Das uttered as he continued to walk in front of me. “Old resistance tunnels”

I walked behind Das. The tunnels were narrow and they carried on and on. Some tunnels and passages were darker than others. Some went deeper underground. I just kept following Das.

“Welcome to the resistance” Das stopped moving forwards fast. He had come to an old metal door. It looked locked from the inside.

As Das pressed a 16 digit combination on the keypad near the door, I uttered “Resistance”

The bulky metal door sprung open and Das said “Yes it's best you don’t know too much” Das walked past the doorway. “Your safer here Crystal”

I walked through the doorway. “Safer?” I asked as the door closed automatically.

“Much safer, this place is impregnatable” Das spoke as I followed him.

We were continuing to follow the passages underground. The tunnels were much lighter and some had steps going down deeper underground.

Suddenly we came to a massive door. A bigger door than the last one. The door was metallic and thick. Two guards were posted outside.

The guards both stood still. They both wore a dark red uniform. A red military top and trousers. Covered in a black armour on their torso. Both wore a black helmet and a mask.

As Das approached the two guards I heard “Stop” and saw the two guards point their guns at us. The guns were large laser guns, used by the military. A blast from the laser gun would be lethal to anyone caught in the laser beam. The laser guns were special crafted guns meant for lethal combat only.

Das stopped suddenly and put his arm in front of me to make me stop too. “Number” the guard on the left said. The guard looked straight into my eyes.

I was confused. Who were these people? I didn’t know that these tunnels existed.

“8183456912345643” Das spoke “Ultra Zero”

The guard nodded in approval. I was relieved. Then both guards looked at me. “Who is this?” the guard on the right uttered as he stepped closer.

“A friend” Das spoke “She is very useful”

I started to speak. I introduced myself and then I told the guards that the surface had been invaded and taken over by the Sinaran Marauders. I told the guards that I was a pilot at the flight academy.

The guard was intrigued and wanted to know how I knew Das. Das explained to them that he was a weapons and mechanical engineer and he met me at the Osara academy before he graduated a few years back. He also went on to explain that we both kept in touch and that during my pilot training missions he was recruited as my weapons and mechanical engineer.

Eventually one of the guards unlocked the large metal door and myself and Das walked through into the secure area. The large door closed behind us.
