I was in Base 57 a resistance base. The base was an old base from over 100 years ago during the Osara Civil War. Now it was being used to try and repel the Sinaran Marauders. The Sinaran Marauders keen interest in our home planet Osara was due primarily as Osara was the second closest planet to the Blue Star. Sinaran Marauders are from the planet Sinara, 10th planet from the Blue Star. Being the furthest planet from the Blue Star makes it much harder for such a race to mine or plunder such valuable minerals and resources from the Blue star.
The ten planets in the solar system connecting the Blue Star and starting with the closest are:
1. Primus
2. Osara
3. Kalba Republic
4. Urapa
5. Yarzan
6. Brenotala
7. Datara
8. Maronis
9. Relga Dor
10. Sinara
A day had passed since I arrived at the resistance base. I was kept in a darkish but comfortable unit. The unit had a small bed and attached to the wall was a Rico board, a popular game played by people living on Osara. I could hear loud voices coming from the corridors of the base.
The door opened and Das walked in. He was a tall and elderly gentleman.
“May I introduce myself” the elderly gentlemen was well spoken as he walked further into the room he smiled and added “Base commander Rufus Balo”
After I introduced myself I admired his red and black uniform. He was dressed similar to the guards except instead of wearing a face mask and hat, he wore a red triangular hat. His long grey hair flopped from beneath his hat and covered his shoulders.
“We need a pilot” Rufus spoke “I believe you can fly a vessel”
I smiled and truthfully said “Yes, but I am still training”
Das looked at me then added “She is a great pilot, almost finished training.”
Rufus walked slowly towards me and laughed “She will do”. He then walked out of the unit and down the corridor.
“She will do” I repeated and questioned Das.
Das walked over to me and looked me straight in the eye. “We are going fly a jump ship past the blockade”
“What” I shrieked.
The narrative has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
“Yeh” he glanced at the Rico board on the wall and then looked back at me “Easy mission” Then Das added “Osara has fallen to the Sinaran Marauders”
I stepped forward concerned “Then we have no choice”.
Das started to walk towards the door of the unit and then he turned round and uttered “We need to leave now”
Within seconds a loud bang echoed throughout Base 57. Das ran out of the unit that I was in, and then I saw him turn round and shout to me “Hurry”
The Sinaran Marauders had found Base 57.
I heard Rufus speaking to Das as we rushed through the tunnels of Base 57. Rufus explained that the defences won’t hold for long, but they will hold long enough for the resistance to launch the jump ships from the hangar.
All I could think was, we were deep underground. How could space ships even get underground? Rufus and Das explained to me that Jump ships were designed to teleport anywhere within a certain radius. Meaning that our plan was to teleport our jump ship out of the underground base and then re-jump out into space from within Osara’s orbit.
I carried on walking through the tunnels and then entered the underground hanger. The hangar was large, dark and gloomy. Sitting in the middle of the hanger was the jump ship.
The jump ship was big and circular, with three wings. Two wings coming out of the circular hull and the third wing attached to the large pointed tail end. The jump ship was decorated in white and red and on the hull wrote ‘Jurata 200’ The Jurata 200 was a military vessel with mining equipment attached.
As I looked from the hanger entrance I saw the loading bay doors open. A dozen to two dozen resistance soldiers were loading crates and running towards the Jurata 200.
Suddenly a loud siren rang. Rufus walked briskly forwards and announced in a raised voice our plans ahead.
Our mission was to breach through the blockade and fly to the Kalba Republic to plead for help from our allies. Rufus carried on addressing the resistance members.
“BANG, BANG” explosions came from the tunnels.
I looked at Rufus and then watched two resistance soldiers pull down the hanger doors.
“We don’t have long,” Rufus shouted as he ran towards the Jurata 200.
“Don’t let them breach the hanger” a young female soldier shouted sharply as she ran towards the Jurata.
Everyone in the hanger, it must have been a good fifty soldiers darted towards the Jurata.
I lost count of people rushing towards the ship as I ran as fast as my legs could take me.
I heard Rufus shouting “Quickly, quickly” as he and everyone rushed.
Das grabbed onto my arm from the side to help me run faster towards the ship. I looked at him and he looked at me.
This was it. Was it the end? Or would we make it into the ship in time?
I heard a massive explosion as I ran quickly towards the ship with Das. My legs moved as fast as they could.
Screams filled the entire hanger as the hanger ceiling started to collapse. In a big jolt I lost grip of Das’s hand as a piece of ceiling fell on top of me and another piece hit the side of my head. That was the last thing I remembered as I lost consciousness.
