* Dingdong… dingdong… * “what time is it so many” she was still missing the last few things ”MOTHER! do you mind opening up ”Lisa shouted in panic. She was still in the process of fixing the last few little things before she was ready for their evening. "Yes yes honey, buy you some time" her mother laughed out loud.
Her mother went out into the hallway and slowly opened the door for him standing out there. Out on the porch, Jack stood looking like something from a fashion show. He is wearing a blue shirt, with the top two buttons open. In addition, he wore his normal jacket and pants. How that he made the parts for a suit look both classy and casual would be the talk in the house all evening. "Good evening, madam. Klade, it's an honor to meet them. ” Jack started politely as he took her hand and bent down over it so he could plant a light kiss on the back of her hand. "Call me Dorte, you're going on a date with my daughter." she laughed embarrassed. "If that's what they want." he replied with a buttery laugh.
"That's it, but enough about that, come on in, Lisa's about to put the finishing touches on the work." she laughed and led Jack into the living room where Police Commissioner Klade was sitting polishing his gun collection. "Now behave nicely both of you, she's getting so angry if you can not figure it out together" Dorte growled almost, as she stared very eloquently at the pistols. "Yes yes darling" Lisa's father replied.
The living room was a warm little one of a kind, in addition to the old brown armchair Lisa’s father was sitting in, then there was a cream-colored 2-person sofa by a small wooden table, with a bowl of fruit on it. The television was set up against the wall and under it were a number of pictures of the family. There were a few pieces by Lisa’s grandparents and by Mr. and Mrs. Klade in their young days. On the bottom shelf were several pictures of a little girl who almost had to be Lisa as a little girl, Jack thought that even as a little girl she looked cute and he usually did not like children.
Jack sat down carefully on the sofa, and looked around the room. The silence dragged on until Jack could not stand it any longer, why was he nervous? He was too old to get nervous when sitting in front of a normal human man. There was nothing Police Commissioner Klade could do to him. he was so much faster and stronger than him, but why did he shake then? "Hi we've never been introduced, the name is Jack Morningstar" Jack started and held out his hand. "Hi Jack, the name is Kim Klade" he replied and took his hand in what he himself thought was a firm handshake. Jack could barely feel it, but he could see the effort in Kim’s eyes.
They sat there for a while looking at each other. Jack did not know what to say, the only thing he could think of were ridiculous things such as what Kim thinks about the weather or other ridiculous things. Jack’s eyes wander around looking for something they could talk about. "where are you going?" it suddenly sounded from Kim. "Have booked a table at a Chinese restaurant in the center" Jack replied. "So you are not going out to the east quarter?" Kim asked hard. "No have spent the last few days looking for a place where we would not get too close to some leeches" replied Jack happy to have something to talk about. He could see that Kim was relaxing right away when he heard where they were going to be.
When the ice was first broken, Kim put her gun down and they just sat and talked for a few minutes. The conversation died out quietly, but Jack had found a topic he thought they could talk about further. "May I take a closer look at it now that you've polished it so nicely?" Jack asked quietly as he pointed to the gun on the table.
"Of course" Kim replied happily, "I did not know you were interested in weapons" exclaimed Kim as he took the gun and passed it to Jack. "A little, I've tried a little of everything in my life" Jack replied and took the gun. He sat for a while and studied it until he noticed a symbol cut into the metal. On the side of the handle, there was engraved a ham and cross that lay at a cross.
Jack froze at once, gently raising his eyes to Kim. There had been no doubt that it was the symbol of the Paladins. Now that he was aware of it, it was also engraved in the frame of a picture of what almost had to be Lisa’s grandparents. Jack was panicking now, what was he messing up. "I see you have found the symbol" commented Kim. "My father was a paladin and I also have the training, I just never went actively into it" explained Kim and Jack became insanely nervous. Before they could speak any more, the sound of footsteps came down the stairs.
She had put on a blue t-shirt and a half-length black skirt, her hair was made in a braid, and when it lay over her shoulder as now, it very discreetly led one's eyes down towards the half-deep cut of the t-shirt. Jack glanced at Lisa's mother and confirmed from her smug smile that she had been gossiping about his color combination. But he had to admit that it looked really good. "When you're done staring, I think you came to take me on a date," Lisa said sarcastically, unable to stop laughing. "Yes I think I was" Jack replied with a big smile and could not help but enjoy her father's reaction. Jack could see it tingling in his fingers to take the gun and shoot Jack. "So let's get going before my dad decides to see how fast he can empty a magazine in your head" Lisa laughed completely out of control now.
Lisa’s parents made a big deal out of showing them off and waving goodbye so they could see what Jack had planned of transportation. Out in their driveway there is a silver colored Tesla Roadster. "Do your parents let you drive around in their sports car?" Dorte asked in astonishment. "Nope it's mine" Jack replied with pride in his voice.
"How the hell can a schoolboy like you afford such a car?" Kim asked, raising an eyebrow, "if I ran your fingerprints through our system, would I have responded to some of our unsolved bank robberies?" Kim asked half jokingly. "Only if it's like robbing them when I own a good deal of shares in them." Kim and Dorte completely lost their jaws. "Y .. y .. y .. y .. y .. y .. you… you own a bank" got Dorte stammered out. "No I have a majority stake in 5 of the world's largest banks." Jack replied cheerfully. "How did you get them?" Kim asked completely speechless. “Some I have inherited, others I have won, but most I have bought myself, I am really good at trading my way to the best price. Have a few times heard the expression that I could sell sand in the Sahara. ” explained Jack with a smile on his face.
"Honey, have you checked him in your register" Dorte asked as she turned to her husband. "Yes, there was nothing, never a fine or anything" Kim replied automatically, he did not seem to quite run on all the pistons right now. "He is rich, looks good and has no criminal record." here Dorte turned to her daughter. "Forget everything I taught you not to give it up on the first date, you use every trick you can to keep him here" she commanded Lisa.
"MOTHER!!" shouted Lisa so loudly that they must have been able to hear her throughout the city and shone completely red. She could be used as a traffic light right now. Lisa took a deep breath and Jack could see her counting to ten. "Shall we see to come on that date before my parents make me more embarrassed" Lisa asked as she walked towards the car. "Why are they so cute" Jack laughed and could almost feel the killer look from Lisa.
Jack got into the car and a mechanical voice suddenly sounded from the radio. Good afternoon Jack. I see you have a guest with you today ”Lisa was about to have a cardiac arrest. "Hi James" Jack started "yes I have a guest with. Lisa and I are going on a date down to the Chinese we found yesterday ”Lisa only now noticed that the radio was on. "Good day Lisa" it came from the radio, "since Jack can not afford to introduce me." "Hi, I'm just having fun with her reaction to you" Jack laughed, "then I have to introduce myself. I go by the name James and am the artificial intelligence of this car. I can do everything from controlling the seat heating for you, to driving the car myself, I just do not become popular in that, people are not safe with a driverless car. ” explained James. "He's Fie's masterpiece," Jack explained as he watched Lisa look at him strangely. "He's installed in all our cars." at the same time turn on the car. "I would suggest you put on the seatbelt, Jack likes to drive fast," James said, while the lights on the seatbelt and where it was to be attached were turned on.
"Hi, I've never been in an accident," Jack defended. "No, but we're just outside the police commissioner's house, do you think that's a good idea?" how that Fie having been successful in making a program sound complacent and knowledgeable Jack did not grasp. "Well let's get going" Jack said and stepped on the gas.
This tale has been pilfered from Royal Road. If found on Amazon, kindly file a report.
The Chinese he had chosen, was nicely centrally located in the city and was made in two floors. In the living room there was a large open traditional Chinese restaurant, but lots of nice carvings and pictures with text on which Jack could tell were not Chinese. He had talked to the owner and they had very quickly agreed that Jack and his date should be shown directly up to the slightly more private tables that were on the first floor when they arrived that evening.
When they reached the restaurant, Jack stopped the car right at the entrance, and got out and went and opened the door for Lisa. "This way my Lady" Jack laughed as he kept the car door open for Lisa. Lisa reached right out of the car when Jack closed the door and patted the top of the car 3 times. Jack stood looking at Lisa to see her reaction as the car drove by itself and parked in the first vacant booth. Lisa looked like someone who had just seen a ghost. "James was not kidding when he said he could drive himself" Jack laughed out loud as he took Lisa's hand.
Inside the restaurant, they were immediately shown up on the first floor and into one of the private booths. The small stalls were made as two red sofas with a table between them. The tabletop was adorned with dragon engravings. To make the extract private, some light curtains hung between the stalls also in the red color, with some yellow characters embroidered in them. There immediately stood one and wanted to hear what they wanted to drink. Jack looked very tellingly at Lisa and waited for "just a Fanta" she replied before the waiter turned to Jack. "Nothing to me." now Lisa looked at him strangely while the waiter just shrugged and left. "Why don't you have something to drink?" She asked wonderingly. "I do not need to drink anything to survive" he replied and could not quite keep a smile from his lips over Lisa's shocked face.
"So you do not need food, nor water, what do you need?" Lisa asked. Okay so start the questions thought Jack. "We do not need much to survive, we can eat and drink like normal people, but we do not need it and do not feel any urge to do so. it's like chewing on an old chewed gum, no taste or pleasure, ”Jack replied as Lisa's Fanta arrived. "Are you ready to order?" Asked the waiter, finding a pen and notepad. "What do you want" Jack asked, "I think I want to try the chef's favorite" Lisa replied tamely, she had completely forgotten that they were on a date. "What about you?" The waiter asked. "Nothing to me" Jack replied quickly.
After the waiter had left, Jack could see that Lisa had only just begun to ask questions "you do not need water and food, the next thing will be that you say you do not need air." started Lisa, "we do not need air, there are only two things we need" Jack interrupted, "what are they" Lisa asked and looked Jack in the eyes, they must have started to fade now, he thought. "We need the vitality of others if we want to stay here and we have to go out and experience the blood moon, we can survive without being hit by the light of the blood moon, but we become incredibly weak if we do not do it once in a while." explained Jack. "Wait, you did not say you died if you do not take the life force of others, what happens then?" Lisa asked again wondering.
"We can go for many months before something happens, but if we go long enough without taking nourishment, then we are pulled back where the original came from, have seen it happen once." Jack replied and could feel the pain in his chest in fear. "He who made me a demon was held captive by the paladins for several months, and I only managed to see him one last time before a blood moon drew itself on the floor below him and he disappeared in a red glow, it is a long time ago now but it still haunts me if I close my eyes. ” told Jack with a trembling as if he had just experienced it again. "We do not know what is on the other side, but no one wants to leave this world that way. Jack concluded.
Lisa seemed to feel bad about where her questions had led the conversation. What about sleep? how old are you jack? sat today and found some texts that said that you do not age and that you do not sleep. ” Lisa asked gently.
"We do not need sleep either, we can go to sleep, but we are forced to revive the feeling of our transformation when we do, I am a little over 500 years old" Jack replied. "How did it happen?" Lisa asked. Jack could see she was really curious. “I was an experiment, my creator toyed with the idea that since the first was usually only seen at the blood moon, how strong would someone made under the light of the blood moon be. His hypothesis was right, I am strong, much stronger than anyone else I have met. ” Jack replied quietly as the food came.
"How do you do that?" Lisa asked. Jack sat for a while wondering what she meant and was just about to ask when it dawned on Lisa herself that it was a very open question. "How do you do that when you take life energy?" she asked. When that was what we had reached, Jack thought “we can do it from a distance, but the life energy leaves people in a form of smoke. We usually do this by close contact, so we can avoid being seen. ” Jack replied calmly. "does it hurt?" that question he was not prepared for, "no people usually do not notice it" he answered a little confused, where would she go with these questions. "are you hungry?" he begin to sense a tendency now, “yes a little, but I have almost just had eaten a little. keeps me from eating my fill. I can't stand the feeling of not taking the last glow out. " dam he did not quite suffocate the bitterness in his voice, now she would surely flee.
"The last glow" Lisa just asked, "yes the last glow. We can drain large amounts of a person's life force and get full of it and our eyes, become just a copy of theirs and they recover. If we take the last glow, then our eyes turn red and they die. The others have no problem not taking the last spark, but I find it incredibly difficult. I get so strong when I do it, and it tastes so good. ” Jack admitted. They sat in silence for a while after that. Jack did not know where to turn the conversation now. "Well can I see" Lisa asked between a few mouthfuls of noodles. "Why not" Jack replied and came up with a fun idea. "You might also want to try to be a victim?" Lisa sat for a while looking at Jack as if he was not really smart.
"No thank you do not think it is something I want to try" she replied after a while. "Good answer, would assume there was something wrong with you if you were willing to give your life energy to someone else." he laughed and thought back to a girl he had found on a bridge that was about to jump out, which he was convinced was better to give him her energy. It has been like any other time food. Nothing special about it. The waiter came and asked if everything was as it should be and gave Jack a look that could only be interpreted as "what the hell is wrong with you have you seen the food we have here and you do not want anything?" "Everything is fine" Lisa replied and ate on. The waiter reached just around the corner before Lisa came up with another question. "How do you become a demon?"
Jack began to sense a theme for the evening, "would you like to be a monster" he asked with a lot of scorn and contempt in his voice. "No, I do not want to be a monster, I want to be a creature that does not seem to need to harm people, but is far superior to us." Lisa replied and almost looked like a small child trying to seem determined towards him. why did she need to look so cute and make so much sense at the same time. "Okay you do not want to be a monster, but you want to be infected with an energy that forces you to drain people of their vitality to avoid being drawn who knows where and being chased by a group of religious fanatics" Jack asked this time and felt reasonably confident of the answer. "Yes" came promptly, just as he had expected.
"It's just a shame for you so you have to go out and find someone who will do it for you, knowing that there are not some of the others here who will do it against you. We all wish it had never happened. ” laughed Jack, though he felt some bitterness at the thought of not having been struck with this curse. He could have lived a normal life then. Lisa could not come up with any clever answer to that, so their conversation stalled again. After a few minutes the waiter came with the bill and they left. Out in the parking lot, they quickly found Jack's overly expensive car. They sat down and James welcomed them. "Hi Lisa hope he has not been too brutal on your date, did you get any good food?" he asked, sounding like a real butler welcoming his master home from a long journey.
"You don 't have to pretend, James, she knows it all," Jack interrupted. "If Jack's done being rude, it's just changing my question of whether you got something good to eat Lisa." Jack really had to have a conversation with Fie about how sarcastic she had programmed James to be. "It tasted good, but now I think I'm ready to go home," Lisa replied. "Must happen miss" James replied happily and turned on the car. "Jack the police are out on ring 3 so take another road home" was James' last comment before he became silent. Jack did not answer but just turned out of the parking lot. "Now it must be my turn to ask about everything personally" Jack fired off with a big smile. "Yes it must be, though I probably have lots of new questions tomorrow." Lisa replied happily.
What was full was a drive where Jack did not look at the road, but spent the whole trip sitting and looking at Lisa and asking questions about everything from, her favorite color to music tastes to childhood memories. When they reached the driveway, Jack stopped the car and they sat in the dark for a while. "It's been a nice evening," Lisa began. "Yes it has" Jack replied. "Do you mind if I come and drive you to school tomorrow?" he asked, and could even hear how desperate he sounded. "You can do that" Lisa replied happily, "but it's still my turn to ask" said Jack "then you can be allowed to ask again tomorrow afternoon." Lisa was just about to get angry until she heard the last thing. "Ok" then see you tomorrow she said and got out of the car and went up to the porch, with a little more turn in the hips than was really necessary, and Jack took it upon himself to follow them with his eyes.
