The dog also leapt over the wooden barrier and tried to follow towards them however after crossing the barrier it was at a momentary loss there was confusion on its angry face for some time since it can see the thieves who had tried to infiltrate its master’s territory were running all on different directions so randomly decided to run straight towards the direction of three thieves who were running together towards the forest and the other two that ran on the opposite directions can be dealt with later however all of a sudden there was a stone which came flying and hit on its head from the direction of the mountain. The dog felt an excruciating pain on its head. How dare this thief throw a stone at him? So it decided to run towards the single thief who was running towards the hills to teach it a lesson.

On the other side Bharat saw that his aim was correct and his stone landed on the dog’s head which angered the dog to run towards him.

WOOF! WOOF! WOOF! WOOF! Grrrrrrrr! WOOF! WOOF! WOOF! WOOF! Grrrrrrrrrrr!

Bharat thought in his heart: “Oh God please save me. If this dog is able to reach me I am definitely dead meat. How do I save myself? If I am bitten by this dog I will get rabies and I will have to take a vaccine injection for rabies also I will be sick for a long time. I will not be able to study and prepare for the main Board Exam.”

Bharat kept running and running with all his might despite being tired and panting heavily not knowing what will happen to him if he is caught by the dog.

Badom Badom Badom Badom. His heart was pounding loudly on his chest and he was bathed by the sweat of his own body within a minute.

While running he could feel the breath of the dog on his legs since he was in his half pants and then he felt some wet thing on his leg.

Bharat was quite strong mentally and was very brave however after all he was only a kid and was going to give his board exam for class twelfth so at the face of the danger he really got scared.

Bharat’s face became pale and he thought: “I am not going to return home in one piece today.”

All of a sudden he found his leg in a ditch and then he fell on the ground getting a bruise on his elbow however he did not feel the pain at the moment due to the tension he was in since the dog was already over him.

Bharat turned over and found the dog’s angry face over him.

Seeing the dog over Bharat all of his friends were shocked for a moment. They thought that nobody can save Bharat now and he might get injured severely.

Abhimanyu was the most concerned among his friends since Bharat was his closest friend and he used to share all his secrets with Bharat and used to spend most of the time with him since they were eight year old kids. So their friendship was very old and very strong. So if one of them was hurt the other felt the pain. They have always helped each other from time to time in school and used to share Tiffin boxes with each other, always finding excuses to sit back with each other in the class. In punishments also they used to be together.

So he cannot see his dear friend Bharat get hurt anyhow and when he saw the dog was almost on top of Bharat he almost got heart broken for his friend.

Then there was a loud whistle blower and a shout from a large man was heard from the other side of the wooden barrier from the farmland. As soon as the whistle was made and the shout of the large man was heard the dog stopped in its tracks then and there.

Bharat felt like his life had already come up to his throat and after a moment it was going to leap out of his body however the dog just backed away a little after the dog whistle and it backed down.

Then he saw that the dog went to its master waving its tail showing it was able to catch the thief and was obedient to its master.

All of this has happened within one single minute since the dog came out hence nobody could understand the situation that the dog will end up attacking Bharat.

Abhimanyu came running at him after all Bharat was his best friend and his closest at heart so he was really concerned that if he was bitten by the dog.

Abhimanyu asked: “Hey Bharat! Are you all right? You are not bitten by the dog are you?”

Bharat could not say anything at first. He was lying on the ground shocked by the turn of events.

Abhimanyu asked again: “Bharat are you all right?”

Bharat came to his senses and then said slowly after the shock: “Huh! Yes I am alright now. I got saved somehow.”

Abhimanyu was much relieved seeing that Bharat was all right and said: “Good that you are alright I got so scared for you for a second.”

Abhimanyu helped Bharat to get up on his feet then turned towards the big man and saw that the man had a well built muscular body with a mustache and more than six and half feet in height. As per the attire dhoti and kurta which was worn by the man he looked like one of the locals from the Rajgarh village.

The man rudely said: “You guys what are you doing here? This is the farmland and strictly no trespassers are allowed here. If you were not kids I would not have restricted my dog so never try to enter anyone’s property without permission in the future.”

Abhimanyu said politely: “Sir, thank you for saving us from this dog. We were just passing by and got curious while looking at the farmland with such an abundance of cauliflowers on display at once so we wanted to look. However we were chased off by this dog. Today if sir would not have arrived in time my friend Bharat would have got injured severely.”

Bharat said hurriedly: “Sir, thank you again for saving us. We had just come here for a short picnic. We will go now.”

The man said: “Okay this time around you have managed to escape fine you can call your friends now and go home I will restrain the dog from attacking. Do not wander around anymore.”

Bharat and Abhimanyu thanked the man and turned around to call their friends since they had already climbed the tree by now and were scared because of the scene below and by the dog.

Bharat called out to their friends: “Hey guys!! You all can come down now we are safe finally the dog won’t do anything.”

So after giving assurance that the dog won’t attack all his friends were able to come down from the tree and decided to head towards home since it was already enough adventure for one day.

The children were able to reach home before the stipulated time of one pm allotted by their parents.
